How’s everyone doing these days? How are all the three-nagers?
We had our first snowstorm in 2 years last weekend and L loved every second of playing out in it! She especially loved sledding (down the slope into our neighborhood empty retention pond lol). She’s very much in the miss independent phase. Her favorite thing to tell me when I correct her is “it’s ok! I be safe” or “it’s ok! I fix it!”. I have to decide this week what I want to do for preschool next year- so hard with all the COVID stuff. I don’t know what to do with her when I don’t know what DS will be doing! He’s done kindergarten completely virtual all year. Our district will eventually phase into a hybrid schedule but who knows what the future holds for fall.
Hope everyone is doing well, safe, and healthy!

I have been wanting to start a thread so I’m so glad you did pennylaneHi guys! I miss hanging here and chatting with you. I’m totally in the same boat about preschool with M and figuring out wtf to do. The public town one is expensive and only offers 5 days a week and logistically would be a nightmare with D1 in school. Ideally I would rather her go a few 1/2 days a week so I don’t know. D1 has also been remote all year but all and all has surprisingly done great. I’m sad about it though and am really hoping she is in person next year. I’m so effin exhausted all the time but I think it’s just the Groundhog Day life going around and around. Work is a cluster and the kids are screaming and shrieking all day that my nerves are shot by 9:00 and then I’m just a grump and want nothing to do with MH. I’m clearly a ball of joy 🤣

Hey ladies, J is exhausting as well. Winter has been really hard staying indoors. Hos learning center opened last week thank goodness and thathad made a huge difference.
Im still teaching virtuay from homebut we start hybrid march 1 and im looking forward to seeing ky students. I have my first vaccine shot and my second is marcn 2 so im excited for that.
Potty training still sucks. J will poop on potty but not pee. He even poops on thebig potty. Its feustrating.
As for PreK i really want to hold him out. I know a ton of people held out the last yearand i nnowitsgoing to be a full PreK, J willbethe youngest, his speech still isnt good. Im struggling though because academically hes a champ. He can count ti 50, identify numbers to 30, reads at least 75 words, knows beginning sounds, etc so i think if we hold him out hes going to be bored, but i also think hes so immature. So... we wilk either keep him ag the learning center next year which is 5 half days a week or send to PreK. If we do the learningcenter thenwe can decide to send him tk PreK or K the following year which gives us anothet year to decide
J has been a wild man and i feel like we do a lot of time outs everyday. It sucks. Im ready for normal.

I took this week off, since T is off of school. R is still going to daycare. I’m trying to eat better, but I still can’t bring myself to exercise or exert any energy for a long duration of time.
I’ll send R to pre-K, if they’re in person and I can get her in the before/after program through the Y that’s at the same school. I can register her March 1st, so I’m super excited. I’m also debating on camp this summer if it’s at the same building, since it would be cheaper than daycare and hopefully they’d get to swim.
The kids were really awful in January and I ended up asking my MIL if they wanted the kids from Friday to Sunday the last weekend of January. We’ve been good about following recommendations, but it was for the benefit of all our mental health.
R is being nicer to H, but still loves me the most. He doesn’t really get how it’s exhausting since she’s such a bitch to him. We started watching Dinosaurs on Disney+ and now the kids get the “not the momma” joke. Of course, R’s favorite character is the mom.
I started working with R on writing her name again this weekend. She’s got such determination. My goal is to have her write it once a day in the morn ing, but usually she wants to write it like 15 times. She ended up taking a practice sheet to daycare, because she didn’t have enough time before H had to leave to drop her off.
Did I tell y’all that my kid takes a lunch box to daycare? It’s been since like June because she was jealous that T took a lunch to camp. I wouldn’t let her fill it with food, so it’s got all these tiny toys and trinkets. She sleeps with it and I often have no idea what’s in it because she switches it out. At first, she used to take it on the playground and for walks, but they got her to leave it in her cubby after a month or so.

Hi everybody! I feel like I am in a time warp, I thought I posted last week, I think it was actually December! J is getting so big, already in 4t shirts and he is confident now that they are in a daycare center and he has his own school friends. My girls are super bossy and he usually takes but recently he is trying to run the show which makes me happy. Covid needs to go! The weekends inside are hell, and out one playmate family had an outbreak at their center so no break. With the weather plus random illnesses with the kids i cannot even remember when we had a full week of childcare. king26 which vaccine? My second Pfizer dose is currently kicking my ass. But better than covid. Speaking of which some bitch who refuses not to go to bars and always takes her mask off at my sisters work gave her covid. This has indefinitely delayed her frozen transfer. I think I am madder than she is about it all. She had a mild case and is ok now, but wtf?

yellowcat i got the moderna. Second dose is next week. Im worried. I went back to work monday and its just weird. The kids come back next week. We've had some potty training break throughs. J is now peeing every night before bath and before bed. Somedays he will pee 4 times but everyday at least 2 so we are getting there. He is always amazing us with his skills. The other day he breaks out his letters and starts spelling his color words. He was super proud of himself. His teacher at school says he spells his name, colors, and some a few other words then just laughs. She says he wont write for her though. I told her he hates to write. I dont know what to do with that. He doesnt like to color much, he wont trace lines or.circles, and he freaking hates to write though he has a beautiful tripod grasp. Its frustrating as he will use his letter tiles to spell things but refuses to write anything. Im not worried abiut fine motor thougj because he does puzzles, he uses tweezers to pick up things, and he has other fine motor skills. So we are going to register him for prek at my school ( its hard to get in but because he had an iep for speech he is a priority 2 which will usually get them in to school) and at his learning center then we will decide july 31 where he is going in the fall.

yellowcat It is like being in a time warp! I can’t keep track of what day it is, since I am just always at home with the kids. Man, I’d be pissed in your sisters shoes. Hope she’s all recovered soon. king26 My DS was obsessed with spelling and letters at 3 too, and then completely dropped it for a while. Now in Kindergarten he does just fine, we’re actually having to walk back some of the stuff he’s memorized so that he can sound it out/write phonetically. I wouldn’t worry about not wanting to write/color yet, personally. bsouls R is so cute writing! L is a lefty too and hasn’t quite worked out how to do much more than scribble.

I’m stuck in quarantine with the kids. DS went to one day of hybrid school and then they were both sick a few days later. We got COVID tests, so just waiting on results. I hope that’s not what it is. They just are really snotty/had a low fever. H and I are fine.

Helooo
DD has been in person PK since October. This is the first week she’s gone remote because of a positive case. Zoom class is for 30 minutes. She can’t sit for 30 minutes. DD doesn’t like to color her teacher even brought it up in her conference.
DS 21 months uses the potty sporadically, He’s too young so I’m just letting him go when he wants to. Anyways he always just wants to take his clothes off and touch his penis. How do I stop him ? I say that’s private and go to your room. But that doesn’t work. Help. I don’t know how to boy mom yet.

Hi friends!!! Same old, same old here. Busy working, DH is working but he’s transitioned one day a week for clinic and doing procedures and then the rest of the time is doing research in lab for his post-doc. A bit more flexible schedule which is nice!! And helpful with N, whose still in school 5 days/wk half days. We both got vaccinated ✔️ Our nanny got vaccinated ✔️ And her H will get his first dose this week ✔️ My parents got fully vaccinated last week and I will see them in April for the first time since December 2019 and I’m so excited I could cry.
I had jaw surgery last week for TMJ pain and holy fuck it hurts and I’ve been hangry a lot and just exhausted. Being able to eat slightly more soft foods than just liquid has helped my pain and mood so that’s a plus.
DS is just wild. 3.5 is tough. He talks like crazy but is very stubborn. Desperately needs a nap but refuses 6/7 days. Bedtime is fast but he still wakes up and comes into our bed at some point. Maybe once a month he STTN. He’s very demanding and DH thinks having another kid will make him less of an asshole and I think that’s a terrible idea lol.
I’ve reached a good point with my meds and I feel significantly happier than I have been in a long time. Less anxious. Less stress. Took me 3 meds to get here, plus weekly talk therapy, but it feels nice. Like I get annoyed with N for normal reasons, not bc my brain is being an asshole. 👍🏼

I’m soooooooo happy you will see your parents soon! addymac. Fuck about the surgery though ugh how miserable. MH deals with TMJ but nothing like you. How did you actually know you needed surgery? I’m glad things are improving though. Awesome about your meds and getting to a happy place. M also sucks at sleep so I feel you there 😴😴😴

addymac I often bribe R with doughnut holes, if she stays in her own bed at night. Or, if I don’t have any, then I say no yogurt in the morning. It works about half the time. Also, R is the second, but she is the one that’s demanding of my time and won’t share me with her sister. Not sure another kid would even N out or make him worse.... R comes to us a lot crying that T hit her, because she hit T first.

I got the J&J vaccine last Thursday. I took my mom, so she’s pretty pumped that she’ll be able to see the kids in about another week. I’ve become obsessed with checking for appointments and trying to get everyone I know scheduled.
R goes to her first dental appointment on Wednesday. It’ll probably be awful, but hopefully not since T goes too. They were supposed to schedule T at 8 and R at 8:30, so she could see T getting it done. But when they confirmed last week, they both were scheduled at 8:30 - so they’ll probably be in chairs next to each other.
R got her first haircut on Saturday. She wouldn’t sit down and it took like 10 minutes to pry her off of me and get her to agree to stand while I held her hands. She was so proud of herself after that the whole way home she kept talking about what vehicle she’d sit in next time... I told her “you didn’t sit this time...” so, yeah, she’s not going for a long time.

I am exactly the same, I have become the vaccine fairy trying to get everyone an appointment since I am not eligible 😂

Yay for everyone who’s getting vaccines! I’m not eligible yet but I’ll be signing up so quick once I can.
My kids did not have COVID last month- hooray. But DD already has a cold again. So that’s annoying.
Nothing new to report, I’m just at home playing referee between these kids who are polar opposites. I’m hoping the grandparents get fully vaccinated soon and maybe they can come give me a break.
