I knew a Sir in real life. He went by his middle name but his legal first name was Sir. I'm not a fan of Rumi, but for some reason I don't mind Sir, it seems to fit with Blue Ivy. Really?! So maybe it is just me then. :Kicks rocks: Lol, no I'm pretty sure it's just me in this scenario.

waitwhat I'm thinking that Sir may keep the Carter last name and Rumi is meant to be a singular name. Complete guess ? jubilantsquirrel I'd bring YH and the kids, let H be DD. danib I let AV taste my ice cream like a week ago lol.

I don't think her music is that great either. I have a former student that's been in a couple of her videos.

Trying to enjoy our last day off of work but is raining here. Not fair!! Babies are napping, I'm watching Price is Right, and H just ran out for fast food bc we haven't shopped yet.
I'm so bummed about the knee because I really really want to kick up my running but right now I can barely even walk. Of corse I'll be better just in time for work Monday.
We tried putting the babies in cribs in the nursery last night. That lasted < 20 minutes before they woke up crying and holding on to us for dear life. Maybe we shouldn't have started the transition the first night back after being away from them 24 hours (?). We're going to try again tonight. We plan to do it for the first put down of the night for a few nights. Then we'll do it for two put downs. I think I'm just as upset as them about it, I'm gonna miss the snuggles.

I've never used it, but I think you can google it and then just copy and paste into the notes or memos or whatever on your phone. I think some people have it set up as a shortcut on their keyboards, but I'm not smart enough for all that.

tgrimes I found this for you: First, copy the shurggie guy to your phone, then: To create one of these shortcuts, go into settings and navigate to General > Keyboard > Text Replacement. From there, tap the "+" icon. The Phrase field is where you'll copy-and-paste your shruggie… for the last time. Then, in the Shortcut field, type the phrase you want to activate your moment of "bemused resignation." I use "shruggie," but you could go for something even more succinct, like "shrug" or just "sh" (sadly, emoji aren't allowed). Now that you've got your shruggie shortcut, it should work whenever you type your activation phrase.

kleigh how did the cribs go over for your mom? How's your knee? The knee is a little better today in that some swelling has gone down but now I feel pain on the outside of the leg/knee area. Thank you for asking! So the cribs for my mom went..."meh". They had napped before we left at 11:30-12 noon. Then MIL never put them down for their pm nap. So when my mom took over at 5 she noticed they were exhausted and put them down. They slept til 6. Around 9 they were ready for bed.. So she rocked them both to sleep in the rocking chair with bottles, one on each lap/arm. Luckily my brother stopped in and went upstairs and helped her transfer one to the crib and she transferred the other. They stayed that way until midnight when AB woke up screaming and woke AV up. At that point she realized she couldn't console two at once and brought both to my bed and laid them on her until they fell back asleep and slid both off onto the bed, they spent the rest of the night that way. She also confirmed what I thought, that ABs screaming is not actually teething, she thinks it's night terrors too. He's like asleep and fighting the air and inconsolable and it only ever happens at night, never during naps. I have to look into that.

waitwhat M's first little part poke through Sunday morning and yesterday the whole bottom was finally cut through. All I'll say is that my H had already bought multiple wine bottles in preparation for the second top tooth. I hope J is better with it. he's been so whiny today. Part, I'm sure, because he is tired and part because of the tooth. B was a champ with teething. Like he would wake up and have a new tooth. He never cried, never was in pain. He had 11 teeth by his first birthday. I'm thinking I'm not so lucky this time around.

I'm missing my tiny little newborn babies today. Just a wave of emotion over how big they are, how it happened so fast. I see how people like my mom end up with tons of kids.

sophiegrace We put them down asleep already, dare we try putting them down drowsy? Edit dare not date I was putting her down asleep too because it was just easier, but then she was waking up terrified and inconsolable. It became a battle for the rest of the night because she was fighting sleep and scared of going back in her crib. But then I came across something that made sense. Imagine falling asleep your bed and waking up on your lawn. You'd feel pretty freaked out, right? Now imagine this happening over and over. Eventually you'll be scared to go to sleep because you don't want to end up on your lawn, you want to stay in your bed. Once I got M to fall asleep a few times in her crib from being awake (not drowsy) it started clicking. But I had to be strong and do it for every single time she sleeps. So no more mom naps. Which hurts my heart, but she's napping so much better off of me so I need to KOKO with it. You can take this all with a grain of salt though because we're nowhere close to STTN, but I feel like this alone was an enormous step for us.

kleigh, re: the wine festival. I thought about that, but the wine area is 21 and over only. There is also a street fair with vendors and food trucks, but I would still be in the wine area all by myself drinking. I texted my one friend to see if she wants to go, but she gave me a "maybe" which is her way of saying no. Re: moving to cribs when asleep. I've read the same thing sophiegrace posted about them waking up in a different place than where they fell asleep and getting freaked out. DS1 was a great sleeper, but we did go through a phase for a couple months when he would wake up screaming and it took a while to get him back down. I was putting him in the crib completely asleep each time, so I started putting him down awake. It took a few nights but he eventually would just watch me walk out the door and then pass out on his own.

Well night one of vacation was not good. The kids did great, but you know what the most terrifying and annoying thing in the world is? Being woken up at 12:30am to a fire alarm going off. It stayed on for 5 mins then shut off, then 5 mins later it went off again. H and I both grabbed a kid and headed down to the lobby. Some fu*ktard kids pulled the alarm twice. It took them 20 mins to turn the alarm off the second time. Got back to our room just after 1am and E didn't fall back asleep until 3. 5am rolled around and the fucking alarm goes off again. H stormed out of the room and I sat with my fingers in my ears praying the kids wouldn't wake up. Thankfully they both slept through it, but it took them over 40 mins to shut it off. H even offered to help them silence it while waiting for the FD, but that didn't work.
LSS entire family is tired and cranky and even the coffee isn't helping.
