Age - 4 months tomorrow
Updates - I think we're in a growth spurt/sleep regression. Feeding schedule has been really off this week, and he's been having more night time wake ups and just wanting to be nursing even when asleep. Last night he had 5 or 6 wake ups (normal is 1 or 2) and wouldn't go back to sleep after the last one at 4:45. I gave in after about an hour and brought him downstairs for some swing time while I made the biggest cup of tea. Hopefully I'll get to nap later, if the bigger one cooperates.
Milestones - he's been rolling belly to back consistently all week. I keep trying to get a video to send to DH but he will not cooperate.

Age - 13 weeks tomorrow, 3 months on Wednesday!
Updates - V is really starting to chunk up and I love it. I just want to eat her up. She is getting a lot more chatty and is generally a happy, smily girl. She can roll tummy to back occasionally but doesn’t do it every time she’s on her tummy. I have started doing some light exercise and can really tell how out of shape I am. Uffda.
Milestones - V has slept from 9:30ish to 5:30ish for multiple nights in a row!

Ugh, danib, that’s a ton of wake ups! trtlcrzy I also love the chunky baby stage! It looks like Ben has rubber bands around parts of his body with his tiny rolls Age - 4 months + 1 week Updates - Ben loves his blankies and would prefer to have them in his mouth versus a pacifier (though he’ll take those too if we give them). Of course he only has blankies for supervised naps - like if he falls asleep in the car seat when we’re out. He had a fabulous nap schedule on Saturday (9:30-11 am and 1-4 pm) but had no good naps Sunday. Oh well. Ben seems very happy at our in home daycare and daycare provider seems to love him too - Ben is the only kid that goes on Fridays and another family asked if they could send their son Friday (their son normally goes only Tues/Wed) and I guess daycare provider told them no - she likes just having baby time with Ben on Fridays. Milestones - lots of rolling. Trying to decide when we’ll switch from snoo to crib but he sleeps well enough in the snoo that I’ll probably put it off longer. 4 month appt next week. Question for moms of older babies - have you tried any solids yet? I think I’ll pick up some Puffs soon to see in he’s interested.

sdlaura I didn't give my boys solids until roughly 6 months. I know the guidelines have changed over the years, and at one time they said 4 months, but there's some pretty good evidence that their digestive system just isn't ready yet.

Age - 3 months
Updates - she sleeps pretty well at night. I think she may be sensitive to dairy. I’m not certain but she had some of the symptoms so I’m now a week dairy free. She is sleeping better but that may be age or a growth spurt. Who knows. We saw some concerning behaviors (shaking, darting eyes) and took her to the pediatrician who thinks she is having seizures. We have a neuro referral now. My anxiety is eating at me right now.
Milestones - big smiles regularly, holding her head up, attempting to reach and grab things on purpose.

I'm sorry Radley, that must be stressful. Hopefully it's something really minor.

G had his 4 month check and immunizations today. He's 14lbs 8ozs. Dropped some percentiles, but we're not concerned.

My babies never had teeth before 6 months anyway. I can’t remember where I read that, it may not be accurate.

We do BLW, so it's more up to their skill level at getting the food to their faces than anything else.

I’m sorry Radley, I hope it’s nothing! Re:solids - my babies are really late teethers - so I think 9/10 months is longer than I’d want to wait to introduce solids. DS2 did everything super early - including wanting to at least play with some food - I think from watching his big siblings. We’ll see what happens with Ben!

Solids is just 6 months plus signs of readiness like sitting unassisted.

Age - 4 months
Updates - We have her 4 month appointment tomorrow and I’m anxious to see how much she weighs. I’m just hoping she doesn’t fall any lower on the growth chart.
Milestones - She’s starting to reach for and play with toys. She loves seeing herself in the mirror. She found her feet this week too.
She doesn’t get much tummy time because as soon as I put her down she spits up. It doesn’t matter if she just ate or ate 3 hours ago because something is coming up.

magaroni when G does tummy time he just farts and farts and farts, and spits up maybe 1/3 time. The farts are funny, spit up not so much.

Age - 5 months!
Updates - we have a urology appointment tomorrow to investigate why he’s had 2 UTIs already. So an US and then maybe another test, depending on the result of that. I’m not worried yet, since I dont even know what to worry about. I’ll worry after I have more info 😆. Sleep is still a work in progress. Still 2-3 wake ups a night. And he averages 2 x 1 hour naps during the day. I have a very hard time to get him asleep for that 3rd nap, which makes the afternoons not great. He’s doing a better job getting himself to sleep though, so I’m very happy with that.
Milestones - T is rolling back to belly all the time and therefore spends a ton of time on his belly. His belly to back is still hit or miss. But he’s now rolling onto his belly to get cozy to sleep, which seems to be helping with sleep more. He has no problem lifting his head and complaining if he doesn’t like his position. He has mastered grabbing onto toys and bringing them to his mouth.

Radley that sounds scary! Is there any family history of seizures or epilepsy? I suspect my husband had absence seizures as a child based off of what his parents have said and his experience, but I have no proof. My son had seizures that he grew out of.

C had her 4 month appointment today. She only gained 15 ounces in 2 months and has fallen to the 4th% for weight. I’m so frustrated with her pediatrician. I just feel like they are not listening to my concerns.

Oh magaroni, that is so frustrating. Were they concerned with her slow weight gain? What did they recommend?

I just feel like they are not listening to my concerns. What are they saying about it? My niece was down around the 6th percentile as a baby, but for her it was just that she's small, no other red flags. Still is, she's like 70lbs at 12 years old. But if there are additional reasons for concern that's a whole different story.

hangry and danib she started out as an 8 lb newborn at 38 weeks so she’s been falling on the growth curve. They are just now becoming concerned because she’s fallen so low on the weight curve but she’s also started falling on the length curve as well. I know she’s intolerant to dairy and have eliminated soy as well. I feel like she’s likely intolerant to more given the amount she still spits up so I’m eliminating eggs next. Her pediatrician recommended that we start fortifying her breast milk bottles with formula or if she is nursing to give her an ounce of formula afterwards to try to get extra calories in. I feel like the doctor is not listening though because she completely ignored the whole dairy issue and recommended we start with any basic similac or enfamil formula.

magaroni yeah I've heard of adding formula for calories when there is growth concerns. But if there are allergies (especially DAIRY!!!) then the majority of formulas will just make it worse. I'd definitely be frustrated with the pedi just glossing over that fact. Is it possible to get referred to a allergy specialist or nutritionist?

She did ok with the little bit I gave her this afternoon. I’m going to see how the next two weeks go and at her follow up ask for a referral
