Age- 5 weeks
The Good - I got my first smiles! I also got my kitchen cleaned and decluttered (for the most part). I won a nice diaper bag from a drawing at a local baby store. I’m kinda glad I haven’t made up my mind and purchased one yet. V took a nice long nap today so hopefully that’s the start of longer sleep stretches.
The Bad - DD1 is still acting out, I’m ready for that to stop. My baby is growing up too fast. I’m trying to soak up every moment but the next thing I know another week has gone by. Oh, I’m also still bleeding and so ready for that to be done with. It’s way lighter but I know the second I switch to a pantyliner it’ll be like the scene from the shining.
Milestones/Appointments - nothing for a few weeks
To Do List - continue to deep clean and declutter the house. Post pics on fb marketplace of things I want to get rid of. Ask friends that are expecting if they want to buy some of my baby gear.
Pic - Poof

Age - 2 months + almost 2 weeks (5/15) Good - still sleeping well at night and I’m getting more long naps. He’s also getting more interactive and smiley while awake. Bad - still hates his car seat. It seems crazy to me that car rides put some babies to sleep since he seems to hate it so much Appts - none for baby till four months, but S/O vasectomies in another thread, DH had his consultation today and scheduled the procedure for 8/24. To do - I joined our local Buy Nothing Facebook group and I’ve been enjoying giving away stuff. I gave away some girl and boy baby clothes, pregnancy and ovulation tests, pads, and maternity clothes so far. DD gets to move into her own room for her 8th birthday in a few weeks, so DH moved his home office into the garage, and I need to clean out the room more and move some stuff to the attic. With four kids and the pandemic meaning we both need home offices, were using every square inch of our house. Pack for our vacation that starts a week from today. Should be interesting traveling with four kids!

Age- 15 weeks on Thursday/3.5 months
The Good - still sleeping through the night, we have a good routine now of 7:30pm-7:00 am. They are such happy babies most of the time. So close to getting real giggles out of them too. I go back to work next week! That is a good for me because I am more than ready to go back. If l just had a singleton, I would probably be ok with a few more weeks at home but man I’m tired and ready for work lol.
The Bad - H officially qualifies for a helmet based on his head measurements. He’s 1 cm away from the minimum size they like to fit the helmet for and they also like to wait til they are at least 4 months old so we set up a follow up appt for next month. It isn’t required that he get the helmet but I think I am leaning that way. Poor buddy.
Naps are definitely getting harder now that they are sleeping through the night. I’m happy I only have a few days left of it because I feel like most of my day is just triaging naps. I also think they sleep better during the day when not in the same room based on a few observations which sucks because we don’t have enough space for them to have their own rooms lol.
Milestones/Appointments - 4 month appt on August 17 and then H’s second head appt on the 24th.
To Do List - Get ready for back to work next week.

I first want to start by apologizing for basically abandoning you guys a few weeks ago after asking about pacifier use! I did start using them, but he only accepts it about half the time that I offer so hopefully it won't develop into too bad of a habit. Age- B was one month on Sunday! The Good - at his 2 week appt (which he was actually 3 weeks for) he was 8lb 9 oz, which was up exactly 1 lb from birth weight, so Dr was happy about that. The pedi said, "you must have some really great breastmilk!" which is probably the weirdest compliment I think I have ever received, lol. I don't have a scale at home so I'm not sure how much he weighs now but he definitely feels like a solid 9 lbs when I pick him up! The Bad - I have to move this kid out of my room soon. He is the loooudest sleeper. Constantly grunting and groaning and just generally noisy. Although I think some of it him protesting because he doesn't like his bassinet. He settles as soon as I pick him up. He does seem to like his crib (I lay him in it after diaper changes for a few mins while I wash my hands and stuff) so I put him in it for a little while last night and he slept in there for about an hour! I don't have the monitor set up in his room yet though, so I slept in the recliner in the corner so I didn't get a ton of sleep, but oh well. Milestones/Appointments - my 6 wk check is next week, B's 2 month check is a couple weeks after that. I go back to work this month! I've been off since freaking March (thanks to pandemic & pregnancy) and weirdly I'm not ready to go back yet? I just don't want to give up my lazy days, haha. Also, I'm nervous about catching covid (I'm a dental assistant). 🥴 To Do List - decide on a childcare plan, either in home or center. This is stressing me out big time right now. Pic - one month pic (pdq)!

So cute twopeas! We have used a licensed in home for all our kids as babies and have been happy with it. I feel like it’s a good combo or socialization and less sickness. It feels a bit like going to Grandma’s house

So cute twopeas! We have used a licensed in home for all our kids as babies and have been happy with it. I feel like it’s a good combo or socialization and less sickness. It feels a bit like going to Grandma’s house I'd be fine taking the baby to an in home, because he doesn't need much "care" right now but I want DS1 to be in some sort of preschool/pre-k program because he starts kindergarten next year. And all the licensed pre-k in home providers are super hard to come by. But I also don't really want them in separate places because that's a lot of picking up & dropping off time and I already work until 6:15pm two nights per week, plus live 35 minutes from my work, so it'd make for really late evenings. And the centers that I've toured are $$$$$$ for 2 kids... like more per month than our mortgage. 😬 So my only choices are to pay a shit ton for a center, or send them to an unlicensed home which, while I'm sure there are good ones out there, DS1 had a bad experience in one a couple years ago and it makes me nervous to put them in an unlicensed place. Anyway, I'm sure it sounds like I have a bunch of excuses but this is why the decision stresses me out! Lol.

Age- 2 months
The Good - she was awesome at the beach last week. She just chilled out in the shade in her bouncer and napped. She also has been giving longer stretches and slept from 7:30-5 one night this week!
The Bad - C had her 2 month appointment yesterday and has fallen from the 45th% to 23rd % for weight. They aren’t overly concerned yet. I’ve been telling them since her 2 week appointment how much she spits up. I’ve tried so many things and it’s improved some. They now want me to try slowing down her nursing sessions by only feeding for 3-5 minutes then taking a break/burping for 5 minutes and repeating until she is done. That did not go well last evening. She screams because she is still hungry during the rest period. The other recommendation was pumping and adding 1 tsp cereal per ounce or her bottles. I’m going to keep trying the breaks while nursing because I HATE pumping.
Milestones/Appointments - She’s been awake a lot more. She is smiling a lot and cooing.
To Do List - Prepare for going back to school and back to work in 2 weeks.

twopeas ITA re:older kids and in homes. I think kids age out around 3. My DS2 recently turned 3 and is starting preschool in a few weeks, while baby is going to the in home. When DS2 was born I toured every place in town that would take both a baby and a 3-year-old because I wanted one drop-off and pick-up. But ultimately we decided to keep them at different places because that worked best in terms of their development and our costs. We’ll do the same this time around (preschooler at YMCA preschool and baby at in home).

magaroni I also HATE pumping. Do you have any traveling with four kids tips? We leave Monday. We left early early so they would sleep for part of the trip. I also recommend taking a potty chair and toilet paper because we could find a bathroom on the way during the 6 hour trip. They were all closed so we ended up going outdoors. I also left each older child pack a small bag with toys/color wonder books and markers for the trip and to have something to do at the beach house. The bouncer was a lifesaver both on the beach and at the beach house. Ours was easy to take apart too so it packed nicely.

sdlaura DS1 hated the car seat as well. I'm pretty sure this LO does too, but we hardly go anywhere now, so it could just be that he hates doctor appointments since that's the only place he's really gone. It's awful to drive places with a screaming baby, so I hope he gets over it. DS1 didn't until after he was turned around and even then it was touch and go on if he was going to be happy or not.

magaroni Do they think she has reflux or is just a happy spit upper? I hate pumping too, so hopefully the burping breaks will help.

The main concern is her dropping on the growth curve. I’ll be starting back to work in 2 weeks so if the breaks don’t help then I’ll likely start at least adding cereal to the bottles she takes while I am working.

Age- 6 weeks
The Good - According to H and my mom she is sleeping a six hour stretch at night, she isn’t picky about food.
The Bad - I started having left shoulder pain Tuesday and by Friday I was in severe pain, couldn’t breath and was coughing up blood. I went to the ER and was admitted to ICU with pulmonary embolisms, fluid in and around my lungs and pneumonia. I got out of the icu on Monday but I’m still in the hospital. This is insanely hard.
Milestones/Appointments - 6 weeks I guess
To Do List - Get well and get home

Radley that sounds awful, I’m so sorry. And I’m sure being separated from your dd is hard too. Sending good vibes for a quick recovery and discharge.

I decided yesterday to get V’s upper lip tie checked out. To me it looks like a level 4. So I called and they happened to have an opening this afternoon.

Oops I forgot to reply lol
Age- 10 weeks tomorrow
The Good - not much has changed since last week. I love his little smiles and coos.
The Bad - sleep went to hell after his immunizations last Wednesday. Of course DH left Thursday so I've been dealing with it all on my own. I feel like we're over the worst of it now and slowly progressing back to normal. Not there yet though.
Milestones/Appointments - we had an assessment this morning regarding his flat spot. Good news is it isn't severe enough to need intervention, and he HAS full range of motion (just prefers one side) so he doesn't need physio for that either. So we just have some exercises to do and increase tummy time and turn his head as much as possible. Reassessment will be in another month or so.
To Do List - start exercising. sell newborn clothes

Radley I hope you feel better and can get home to your family soon! trtlcrzy who did you take your DD to, just a regular pediatric dentist? I really want B's lip tie looked at but his pedi just kind of brushed it off so I'm gonna try to get it handled myself but not sure where to start since his Dr was no help.

I was going to take her to a dentist that is highly recommended here but he was booked out until 8/12. So I called the ENT that I’ve taken my other girls to and they had an opening the next day so that’s who we ended up seeing. The snip was quick, but man she didn’t like any of it. All of that to say, call your regular dentist and see if they do it otherwise an ENT should be able to take care of it.
