Hello new week. We had a pretty good weekend. And I woke up to a fb message that I won a free mini photo session with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Good way to start a Monday.

Ugh, the lying and sneakiness has started with DD1. My FIL told her about putting salt on her apple so I let her try it once. But she eats apples a few times a week as an after school snack and I don't want her having salt on it every time. So I specifically told her no today. I took DD2 upstairs for nap and when I came down, the salt shaker was sitting in her spot at the table. So I made her sit at the table then took away her afternoon playtime with my Inlaws before they leave for the rest of the week. (She usually walks them outside and they play for a few minutes)
At least she isn't smart about trying to be sneaky. 🙄

It’s only Tuesday and I’m ready for the week to be over. Work is stressing me out.
DD’s room at daycare has had every type of sickness going through it. HFM (which she just got over, RSV, pneumonia, pink eye and bronchiolitis. She just got over an ear infection in her right ear and her left ear started an infection a couple of days ago. I’m over this season of sickness and it has barely started. She has been clingy and much more irritable than normal. We had our 15 month well check yesterday and our pedi thinks the tube in her left ear is already coming out. It has only been 4 or 5 months! Anyway, I need to reach out to our ENT to get it checked.

cara will they need to put in a new set of tubes if they come out this soon? I have no idea but I suppose I should hurry and get any sort of operation done before the end of the year if that’s what we have to do!

I think it's supposed to bring out the flavor? Interesting! Never heard of this. My dad likes to salt melon, especially cantaloupe, for the same reason. It hides any bitter taste, but that's not usually an issue with apples, so I've never tried it with those!

I really like salt on melon, but have never heard of it on apples.
This week feels so damn long. I keep waiting for things to calm down a little, but they never do.
I'm feeling like we need a family vacation, but I'm not sure where or when to go. We can't do anything until at least February. I looked into the Great Wolf Lodge and it was close to $1k just for a weekend. No thank you.

Ugh, I'm so mad at H. J is sick. 101 fever, cough, and wheezing. I can't miss work today because we don't have enough coverage for clinic. First, H was going to go out in the middle of a snow storm to get his laptop so he could work from home. He decided that wasn't a good idea after all and instead lied about why he needed to stay home today. He said he was sick. So now if J is still sick tomorrow, I'm screwed because no way DH can stay home another day with his "bad headache." I have another clinic in the morning that I can't really miss so I'm probably going to have to medicate J to get through a few hours at daycare before I can pick him up. A sick kid is a legitimate reason to stay home. I told him he needed to think about his career choices if he felt the need to lie when he has a legitimate reason to stay home in the first place. So full of rage.

So full of rage. I know that H has gotten comments from his boss along the lines of "when is it your wife's turn to stay home with the sick kid" - we typically trade off taking days, but even though we work for the same company, H has more flexibility in his role and can work/charge time from home, so he usually takes the first turn on a sick kid. There's some bias that it should be mom's job to do that, rather than the parents' jobs, so I can imagine it's not always looked at the same way when a dad takes a kid sick day vs when a mom does.

I get that, but DH has never received comments about taking time off period whether it's for the kids or himself so really no reason to lie, but what's done is done and I guess I get a day off out of it. My supervisor was gracious enough to offer to cover my clinic in the morning.

I'm not mad anymore....
James has influenza B. He was vaccinated. We have to do tamiflu since he's at high risk for complications, which has awful side effects. I'm just hoping the rest of us don't get it.

DD’s butt has such a bad diaper rash from the diarrhea C loves baths so we did baking soda in the bathwater. Filled it high enough to cover his butt and just let him hang out for 15 minutes. It seemed to help.

J is way better after just a couple doses of tamiflu. It must taste awful though. He fights it and cries. He's fine with other medicine. Z just has a runny nose so I don't think he has it, at least not yet.

It’s making me nervous for this winter.
