We started kindergarten and 3yo preschool here today!
Question - Do you let your kid wear stained clothes to school? I’m not talking horribly stained, but like ‘I tried my best to get something out but I can still see it a little and hopefully no one else will notice’ kinds of stains. Because that’s like... a lot of my kids’ clothes!

That’s a yes for me robinanne. As long as it doesn’t look too horrible I don’t worry about it. We are in week 3 of school here. DS started public pre-K so it’s his first year out of daycare. He just misses the cutoff for kindergarten - he’ll be 5 in a month. So far he seems to enjoy it and told me today one of the boys in his class is his best friend 😊. I’m so happy he took the transition to a new school well.

My kindergartener gets hot lunch every day so I figure she is likely to spill on her clothes during the day anyway 😂 I am pretty lax on their appearance. If I changed clothes for every little stain I would need to hire a laundry worker. I already do a load or more a day as it is!

I do laundry daily too and they’re so hard on their clothes. Plus my washing machine is actually leaving gray stains on clothes. I’ve tried everything to solve it and it’s driving me batty!

robinanne yep. Most of the stains are acquired at school anyway, so no point in sending him in nice clothes. friendofdobby same...week 3 of pre-K and 3 weeks shy of the cutoff for kindergarten. DS is staying at his daycare for pre-K though. His teacher in the 3-4 year old room moved up to be the parapro for the pre-K class, which really helped the transition.

robinanne I definitely send O to school in slightly stained clothes. If I didn’t he wouldn’t have any clothes. I do my best w stain removal but it’s constant.

Thanks! We started school in kind of an uppity district, so I was doubting myself. But I know I can’t be the only one dealing with stains sticking around!

D has grown out of his newborn sleep and play outfits! The 3mo fit him just fine now! It’s amazing how fast they grow.

I tried to mentally prepared for the leaks & spit up but it definitely is affecting my self-esteem about my appearance. Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of it and need less outfit changes and not feel like I smell like old milk.

Mine wear stained clothes. a lot of our onesies have baby food spit up stains on the front from like 12+ months size. I'd have to throw out over half of them if i threw them out. Poop stains that don't come out after two washes get tossed though.

I’m sorry @kore! Are you taking a daily shower? Even something as little as that can refresh me.

How’s sleep going for everyone? I recognize we have varying ages of babies since some are July babies and some are August.
July moms, have stretches gotten any longer for you?
We are getting by over here. 2-3 wake ups per night but she’s usually the last wake up is for 1-2 hours 😴.

cookswithwine No, so that’s probably why I had a 40 minute shower yesterday. 😆

friendofdobby, she actually sleeps through the night most of the time now. Unfortunately I’m spending my evenings painting our house in preparation to sell, so I don’t get to take advantage of it.

Now I can put him down around 8pm after his bath every night and he stays asleep until 12 or 1. Then he sleeps until 330-4 and again around 7am.

Our normal schedule is nursing at 8p, 10:30p, 1:30a, 4:30a then at 7 or 8a. I go to bed after the 10:30p session so I’m counting it as 2 wake ups per night.

@kore get that shower daily! It definitely helps mentally. I take one every night after all the kids are in bed and wash away the day. Let your H take the baby for 15 or 20 minutes a day and take some time for yourself. I also listen to my audiobook while I'm in there lol.

I am sooooo touched out from nursing all the time on top of a very clingy 19 month old who literally climbs on top of me constantly plus random physical affection from my older two kiddos. DH is typically a very understanding guy and he has been a rockstar this postpartum period, but I will tell him "I'm so sorry, it's not you, I just am at my limit of physical touch for the day" and his immediate response is "can I just have a quick hug and kiss?" I feel like I'm an asshole if I say no but the whole time I'm like internally screaming 🤣

We started getting real smiles today! I love it. peachesncream I can relate to feeling touched out, just from the baby alone. Lately all she wants is to be held. By the time MH gets home from work I am so ready for a break.

We’ve been doing tummy time on the mat because DS has great neck control. Today he rolled tummy to back twice. 😧Will I ever have a chill potato baby?

cookswithwine I hadn’t even thought about that. We barely swaddled because he would get so angry. The swaddle up is the one he doesn’t hate (ironically same as DD), I wonder if that would be okay? DH thinks it doesn’t matter since it wasn’t back to tummy.

Pediatrician mentioned that this one is safer for longer because they can use their hands to push up.. so in my mind I think you’re probably ok.

Hey guys. We are doing pretty well over here. Baby girl is 7.5 weeks and we’re settling into some routine. I do still feel sometimes like I’m wishing away her infancy because I’m just not loving the newborn stage. I’m trying to appreciate it, as she will very very likely be our last.
I feel like our board has died. Miss hearing from everyone.
