Laying low here. Dd1 still has to be low activity. So really, I’m just going to try to survive this weekend since she will ask to go ride her bike every 3 seconds

No plans really, just a haircut for me since I missed it last weekend and normal errands/chores. It's supposed to be really hot this weekend so if J is better, I'll set up the kiddie pool and splash pad for them. Daycare tells me Z doesn't like to play in the water though so we'll see how that goes.

Everyone told me kids are resilient and she'd bounce back quickly. That was NOT our experience. It was traumatizing for us all.
At least it seems to have improved her sleep so it was worth it.

PennyCandy DS2 never liked water day at daycare. He’d come home every time with dry swim clothes. A water table is still his preferred play feature over a sprinkler.

We're heading in to a few crazy weeks, kicking it off with DD's preschool graduation tonight. My parents are going to be here for that and until Sunday, H leaves tomorrow afternoon to go help his dad, we join him on the 4th for MIL's funeral over the weekend. Just trying to get setup to get through a few days of work with weird childcare, and then a flight with both kids by myself. (It's a direct flight out of our tiny airport, so once I haul all of our crap in to the check in, I think I can do it!) I laid out the next 4 weeks yesterday, just because there are a few times we're home for 24 hours before moving on to the next thing. Woo!

I think we’ve been lucky. The hardest part has been keeping her low activity. But I took your advice to heart and make her take her pain meds every three hours. The two times that she refused she became a mess. It gives me hope that you say it improved her sleep!

It was heartbreaking to see her so uncomfortable.

yeah kam3100 i think you lucked out! my 2 big kids had a horrible time recovering, especially DS1, who absolutely REFUSED to take the hardcore pain meds and was riding out the whole thing on OTC tylenol. UGH

UGH I’m counting my lucky stars. They gave us prescription Tylenol and ibuprofen and it’s been a struggle to get her to take them. I basically bribed her to take all of her doses. I think I’m glad you guys didn’t tell me your horror stories before hand

I'm going to be back at my house as of tomorrow! We pushed through today and made it so that we are only 6 hours from home tomorrow. I am so ready. But also sad because we are a little less than 30 days out from closing, and then we'll be in transition mode for a good 4 months.
I'm sure all I'll do is unpack.

We talked about going to a local ice cream festival, but they've changed the parking situation and you must park in provided lots and use a shuttle. DNW to deal with 2 kids, their stuff and stroller on a school bus in a 93* day.

Not a whole lot planned since we'll be going to visit family for the 4th next week. Just catching up on laundry, errands, and whatnot.

How did the rest of the trip go I didn't want to respond and jinx it but now we're home! The rest of the time there was whatever-H was more present and said he was busy earlier in the week making sure everyone else had a good time. Going somewhere like that, and especially with 2 little kids, just wasn't my thing. I think I was a good sport, and I knew it was mostly for H and his family. The kids, especially DD had a good time, so that's what matters. The ride went as good as it could have. I figured we could keep DD entertained, but I was so anxious that there would be hours of screaming by Charlie. I don't think we had more than 10 minutes of it consecutively. He didn't always nap that long, but we kept him happy between snacks and the iPad. Little Baby Bum (Netflix) is great if anyone has a trip coming up. It's like an hour of animated nursery rhymes. They are short enough to keep their attention.

doublestuf that's great that the rides went fairly smoothly! I hope next year/the next time y'all go is easier on you. L OH FREAKING L 🤣. This is not a yearly trip-not even for H who would love for it to be. There is no way my sanity could handle that. I did not grow up doing long car rides-we are no more than 3 hours from beach or mountains and all my family is local. H on the other hand did this all the time, so it's no big deal to him. I just cannot imagine doing yearly long car trips. That said, we will still go to the beach and his parents' this summer, but those will seem like a cakewalk now!
