Ugh. Do you know what sucks? Being a teacher on April Fools Day.

Ok, I was totally MIA at the end of last week but that's because the shit has hit the fan here at work. I have 3 parent meetings this week because my kids have totally been falling apart. The good news is that today is our last extended day and my dayacer provider can take E this week.

You know your kid goes to therapy when he requests meditation music and instantly calms the fuck down when you turn it on. 😏 It's like magic.

I am not a fan of April fools day. Just not my thing I guess. I hate April Fool's Day. I find practical jokes mean and not at all funny. Never am I amused. I also hate magic, so there's that. I'll sit over on my "fun hating" bench. I opened my April calendar and realized I have a pretty clear month...so far. (outside of work - work is a nightmare this month) I am hoping we can keep it this way. My ILs are coming back for a couple of weeks mid-month and I am not looking forward to it. They think they need to spend every minute with the boys when they are here since they are gone so much of the year. Sorry, we won't disrupt everything for you for weeks because you choose to winter away. I love them but they are super OTT. They will get some time with the boys, of course, because they boys love them but it won't be all day, every day for days on end while they are back. They've been gone since early November and we saw them once in December. When they leave towards the end of April they will be gone for another month. I should probably upload a few pictures of N to the private board. I haven't put anything on there in forever. I know most people see pictures on Insta so I forget to update here too.

roloma, My MIL is super over the top as well. Like every visit involves special arts and crafts. And she's always on Pinterest looking up ways to decorate cookies and do projects. They always have to go on hikes and go swimming. When she comes up our way (MIL and FIL are only 2 hours away) around Thanksgiving my boys have such a hard time once they leave because the Grandma hangover is bad (they stay at a hotel for a week). Also, she has said some things to my SIL and me that make bu eyes roll out of my head. Like when her boys were young, she told them they could never do anything wrong in her eyes. Or when they visit she makes comments about how worked her kids are taking care of their kids. When I was pregnant with E, I had such a bad pinched nerve in my hip that made it almost impossible to walk. She told my mom how hard my husband had it because he had to work and take care of N. I've never seen my mom so angry.

Ugh sarahandben108. That sounds rough. We are SO not arts and crafts people so that would drive me nuts. I love my ILs, they are really great people, they just are too much sometimes. Plus, they are old and it has been a long time since their kids were kids. They have no idea on the correct toys/interactions for my kids based on age. They usually treat my 3.5 year old like a baby and it makes me crazy. Don't gasp every time he falls, homeboy is tough.

roloma, both MIL and FIL are in their 70's, so they aren't exactly young chickens either. But my MIL is one of those people who seem to think that if you are not putting 110% in being a mother, you are doing it wrong or something. She didn't work when her kids were growing up. I have to work. I take care of my mom. I'm not about sacrificing every second of the day to be mom of the year. So some of her comments are ridiculous. I will say, they will bend over backward to help us whenever needed. And I know my MIL could be way worse but sometimes I wish she would just tone it down a little.

I am not a fan of April fools day. Just not my thing I guess. I know someone who legitimately toilet papered the inside of her house to get back at her kid who put toothpaste in oreos. I like don't have the words for the waste of TP, the amount of time spent on set up clean up, etc. It's just not a fun holiday 🤷 the Fisher Price thing cracked me up though.

I do like the Fisher Price thing. Also when I was pregnant with DD1, my parents got me a gift wrapped in this (fake) box, and it was hilarious.

Also, hi! I haven’t really checked in. I have the day off since I’m working Saturday. Today has been really nice. I worked out, went to Trader Joe’s and target, and have sort of cleaned up some things around the house (not enough, but meh). I’m watching This Is Us now.
I’m not ready to go back to work tomorrow. 😭

Hi all. I've been home since noon with a sick kiddo. Just a runny nose mostly. I just put her down to see if she'd rest some more even though she had a three hour morning nap! DH stayed home this morning, so that wasn't fair, haha. She's been pretty cheerful though. She just whined for like 20 minutes in her crib, but didn't get to crying and now she's quiet, so I'll let her have a short nap.

It snowed today! So much for Spring. Also not a fan of April Fools, but mostly because I’m the most gullible person in the world so I always fall for the tricks.

So DD2 has been coughing on and off since 545 (ie since I’ve been trying to put her to bed). If anyone has any tricks to help a toddler stop coughing I’m all ears. I have done saline/sucker, honey/lemon/warm water, steam, upright, Vick’s (on her back only since she’s not in footies tonight), Motrin/Tylenol.
Poor thing is just exhausted but she keeps coughing herself awake.

Hi. My preschool dilemma continues! More staffing changes, with a few leaving 2 weeks ago, but got filled yesterday. Yesterday we also got notice that they have an opening at our church ps for DD in May. That would be 7 months of double drop offs. Dh has concerns about some lack of supervision when he picks up, and thinks that there will be less bad things that our dd learns from other kids (like calling me stupid this weekend, and shooting guns at us) at a Christian PS. I’m not entirely sure I agree.
I wish I knew what to do!!!!

Also poor ds has had a fever on and off over the weekend, mostly from another molar, but it turned into a cold and we got the dc call at 4 yesterday, so he’s with ILs today.

Sorry your kid is sick too ldubhawksfan! I'm heading home in an hour to relieve my mom from looking after DD too. DD is okay, just really snotty, and maybe coughing more today. I figure if we keep her home when we can they might be more willing to take her at daycare when we both really need to work.

Hello! I’ve been posting on GD lately but wanted to check in. I was looking for an old post before and remembered how at this time last year I was in the throes of sleep training and you ladies were helping me hold onto my sanity by my teeth. So thanks for all of that.
Kids are doing great. DS is such a little dude now, his daycare teacher loves to tell us how he’s into high-fiving his friends and patting their backs when they are sad. Such a sweet friend.

I really hope things work out for you guys. I'm sure it will all fall into place when it needs to

So great to see you bazi! Glad things are going well 😊 gosh those days of sleep training were dark... c just started sleeping through the night in the last few months and I’m so thankful. quinn so cool! How did he do? (Not sure if your talent show has a winner or not?)

Good morning! C woke up coughing and snorting again but no fever and he’s in good spirits. His hair is starting to get a little long, but it’s still pretty thin so it’s just like little wisps poking over his ears and down his neck. Wondering if I should take him in for a cut. Maybe I could just to it myself? This would be his first.

(Not sure if your talent show has a winner or not?) He was the best one hands down 😉 Lol. Yeah they had placed prizes but, I mean, it's a hs talent show. There were seniors with amazing talent. This one kid solved 3 rubix cubes one-handed in less than 3 minutes!! Another girl did a breathtaking contemporary dance. So, while I believe with all my mommy heart that he won the whole damn thing... we are extremely proud of him for even getting up on that stage in front of his peers and their parents as a freshman. I didnt have that bravery at 15!

Hey all! Sorry for not checking in lately - N was a grumpy pill on Saturday for (seemingly) no reason. Fine on Sunday after sleeping 14 hours, so we just assumed he was tired. NOPE! Got a call Monday afternoon that his eyes were all goopy so off to the pedi again... ear/eye infection! He had no fever, no tugging on the ears, had no idea at all until it started oozing out his eyes. Explains why he was so grumpy on Saturday, though. After a day home with antibiotics, he's doing much better and back at DC this morning.
I'm just glad it's oral antibiotics and not eye drops.
My mom is coming to visit this weekend, so I'm hoping H and I will be able to escape for a bit to see Captain Marvel. (Even though I'm super annoyed with H right now, but I won't take a babysitting offer from Grandma for granted lol.)
