Kids are all better and I thought I was getting it yesterday but due to a crazy work day I think I was able to sweat it out. I love it when that happens.
I’m off work tomorrow and am planning on hitting up hot yoga for the first time in a long time and cleaning out my fridge since it’s over due. It’s all about balance on my days off while the kids are at daycare, I can’t wait to sleep in.

cythe thinking of E and you and your H and everything everyone said as well. I think it's much more traumatizing for us to see our babies being upset. Like bootsorhearts1 said they'l forget it soon after and be back to themselves and from what my sister tells me, they've only had good experiences and how great the staff members are with kids. Hoping E will continue to start pulling up. Big hugs. it's really really hard. We're here for you to vent or whatever.

CoachTsWife I am so so sorry you came back from vacay to the kiddos sick. Glad to hear DS1 is feeling better though and that baby won't get it and it's a fluke. Taitai I hate pumping too! yet I still do at night and there is really no reason to. Hope your work trip is going well and it'll keep you busy and be back home in no time. danvers we used to read a few books together a few months back but now lil fella's attention span is much shorter and he's particular about which books he wants to read. DS is able to sit still reading longer books ( he always had since he was a baby though ) plus he's also learning to read so now every night, him and I will practice reading and just to be sure he isn't just memorizing the books we have, we've been getting books from the library so I know he's actually trying to read. So it's hard when they are on different levels. We tried to get DS to read to lil fella but his monotonous and sometime slow read and stopping and spelling out long words isn't engaging for lil fella. I am hoping as he improves in time, he can read to his lil brother. Anyways it's really incredible now that DS is learning to read. I can't believe it!

Lil fella had his best day today! The weather was great so after lunch we went for a walk and lil fella was so excited to see the garbage truck picking up the trash cans... I was practically stalking the garbage truck around the neighborhood. Than as we were tracking back home, we saw the power company repairing the street light so he got to see a bucket truck in action...exciting times here. I am sure the garbage truck driver was and the power company dude was like WTF lady. Also I got an email and call about work and I am so bummed I can't accept any work currently...timing has just been bad...anyways hoping the contracts will get signed later than anticipated and that I can still jump on board in a month and a half when my folks get back - they haven't set a date but that is what they're thinking. Also I was informed the studio is moving locations and it will be closer to me so that will be pretty awesome to shave off 15 mins of commute time.

Bedtime Books: Does anyone successfully do some sort of “reading together” with little and big sibs? Or maybe I just need to wait until DD2 is older and can sit for longer books? I’d like to keep condense that part of bedtime down but right now that seems impossible. All tips and tricks appreciated here! DD2 tolerates board books (preferably with tabs and touch/feel or noise) and DD1 loves books like curious george, berenstein bears, etc. I don’t see this working but maybe it does with time and practice? How old is your DD1? DD1 is 4. She loves being read to and can usually sit awhile. DD2 loves flipping pages quickly 🤦♀️

DD2 loves flipping pages quickly 🤦♀️ If their bedtime is kind of the same I would probably just read in your DD2's room, shut the door, let the baby do her thing while you read to DD1. I definitely wouldn't think that they would both sit still for books at this point LOL. DS1 is almost 7 so his bedtime is an hour after DS2's. Sometimes he'll come in and read a book to his brother with me, but usually he just pops in to say good night and then is finishing up his homework and getting in the shower. 🤷♀️

We just did our first joint "story time" the other night. It turned into DS looking at his picture book while DD grabbed a 'real' book and pretended to read. It went fine but not much actual reading got done. At his 15 month check up, one of DS's milestone questions was "will he sit still for story time". And I was like lolno, bc he's on the go 24/7 when he's not sleeping. Just recently has he let me read him a story at bedtime, but mostly he prefers the picture board books.

The pediatrician question was exactly why I asked. And my response was very much the same. She loves exactly 2 books. So I don’t think listening to me read “happy” “sad” “hungry” for the 30 seconds it takes us to get through the baby faces story probably counts as “sit still for a story”

She didn't like to sit still that long until at LEAST two. I just think it's kid-dependent.

Well I just told a random kid to get her hands off my kid. DD1 was on the edge of the kiddie pool and a girl slightly older was trying to play and push her in. Her mother was next to me (looking at her phone) and I was livid. Not because my baby is perfect and precious but she’s FOUR and would freak if pushed in the little pool (all 20 inches deep).
I definitely have a teacher voice and a “teacher look” so I promise I wasn’t yelling but the girl knew I meant business 🤬🤬🤬 her mother did intervene after that and they left immediately.

I left my wallet in the car after hockey and DH took that car to work so I didn’t get to do anything I wanted today. I did get some chores done. Then daycare called and DD1 had a rash, so we are off to the doctor because it’s probably roseola and they want her cleared before coming back.

cythe So sorry that E might need an MRI. Like others have said, they would put her to sleep for it, but I know how hard it is just dealing with having your kid go under at that age. Big hugs and keep up updated. duskymonkey Whoa - that sounds like a really serious blizzard! Do you guys live at high altitude? So glad you didn’t loose power though! August Blooms Bummer you didn’t get to do the things you wanted to, and I hope that rash isn’t serious. When DS1 had roseola, he also had a super high fever. It wasn’t fun, but he was back to normal about a week later.

Work trip is done! I am soooooooo happy to be home. I really hate being away, and I’m so relieved that DS2 went right back to our nursing routine without missing a beat. DH said DS2 was drinking entire cups of warm cows milk MOTN in like 2-3 min while I was away. DS2 seems really happy to have his human pacifier back 😂
DS1 has also been really sweet and a good boy since I came home. It’s already Friday here, so now I have to think of something fun to do with him this weekend.

We had our appointment with the specialists at Shiners today. They were great, everyone was so kind ect. They did two more xrays and they didnt show much except that "she is constipated". She poops every day, so because an xray was taken before she pooped today I'm not sure qualifies it as constipation. Anyway, the doc said she looked good overall but the "constipation" in combination with her hesitancy to stand she thought warranted a referral to a neurologist. She said it could be like a signal failure between the brain and the lower extremities. But she also mentioned twice that this referral would be like checking a box, which to me means it could show something or maybe shes totes fine yadda yadda yadda. So I'm all up in feels tonight because she was so scared today during the xrays even though I was right there. If we do a neuro consult they're going to want to do MRI or CAT scans - whichever is which. More pokes, prodding and a loud, scary scan because maybe it could show something. Idk what to do. I dont want to do a scan without good reason to, I just dont want to do that to her. Hugs to you.

Can't help with the siblings part since we only have M, but we read probably 12 books before we go upstairs and lay down. It really calms her and gets her ready for sleep. i would probably just keep trying to make it routine!

Taitai, to update you on how to floss your teeth if you decide to do the invisalign/permanent retainer metal bar thing, floss threaders. Ugh. annoying and takes a little more time but it works. Also, if you don't want that, just get the tray retainer. i would have but i want veneers on top and the retainer would get in the way.

Thanks for the info about the flossing. Maybe I’d just get the tray retainer instead then. It would be a hassle to take in and out all the time, but flossing with a threader might be even more annoying! I’ll let you know what I decide!

DD1 needs to be in direct contact or beside me all the time. It’s starting to get a bit much because The baby (are they still babies or are we in the toddler phase?) gets mad at her. If she’s laying or sitting near me DD2 thinks DD1 is nursing. I am so close to weaning and can’t wait! I’m so done, 4.5 years of being pregnant or nursing, I need my body back to myself.
