Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well! J just finally fell back asleep. I wish this kid would sleep more than a few hours at a time. I’m exhausted... always.

Happy Sunday!
I’ve got to head out for my long run in a bit. The snow yesterday forced me to put it off until today, which sucks. I like getting it out of the way on Saturday.
We’re looking at another 6-8” of snow over night tonight, so we might actually get a snow day tomorrow. I’m anticipating at least a delay.

Morning!
Just finished blueberry pancakes and are bumming around before church. We have a 1 y/o birthday party later so that will be fun.

Good Morning! DD2 just jumped into our bed, H is still sleeping, J is on the boob and she is very upset that he’s between us. Today we’re going to cheer on our friend and his son. Our friend (he’s like a brother to H) is the coach of his son’s basketball team and today is the championship ship game. As a bonus we get to meet their new baby! J and DD2 have been sick so We haven’t been able to meet him yet.

I’m in a weird Sunday night limbo. I’m about 90% sure we’re going to have a snow day tomorrow, but it’s 5:30, so I really need to get lunches and stuff ready for school tomorrow just in case. I’d rather just be lazy.

Hello! DH and I are on our way home from Vegas. It was a fun few days but super exhausting! I took the day off tomorrow to chill with the boys and get our lives back in order- probably the best decision I’ve ever made. I hope all you ladies and babies are doing well!

Busy weekend here! Just been trying to tackle our mess of a house and get everyone situated for the week. Dh starts his new job tomorrow! Yay! He's excited and nervous. Ds1 has his junior kindergarten readiness testing tomorrow too. Hopefully he will be agreeable.
One exciting thing that happened is that ds1 is crazy into art lately. He wanted nothing to do with coloring or drawing up until recently. His therapist had said that when kids feel safe, they start to create again. So I'm taking that as a sign as he is making progress. ❤️

Our fridge conked out on us this morning. Discovered it after church when I went to make lunch. Threw out half the freezer contents and some questionable fridge stuff that was mostly just long past it’s shelf life 😂. But now trying to live with stuff in a cooler and praying it won’t freeze outside. And praying the freezer stuff will stay frozen outside as well. I have a small apartment size deep freezer in the Garage so I was able to rearrange and fit some stuff in there.
My biggest annoyance is that I can almost guarantee I won’t have a fridge for at least a week. That just doesn’t work. I’m already stressed about it. I will have to bring DS1 Lunch tomorrow and I’m already dreading that too. I have nothing now to make for his lunch. I had to throw out his usual stuff. Blah.

That sucks cdnfarmgirl, a huge annoyance! Good job bethkate, now you don't have to worry about what to eat at home for lunch tomorrow 👍😂 We're good over here. Had a fun day yesterday going to ikea and a soccer game. It was good to see my sister! DD was a champ, even with much less nap time and a late bedtime. Tonight she seems to be a bit snotty and coughy again, but what's new I guess. She was in a fine mood, just you can tell she was still a bit tired from yesterday. This weekend felt way way too short though. I'm not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

Hi, everyone! We had a lovely day and lovely weekend. So relaxed. It was a very nice change of pace after some busy weeks/weekends. I have tomorrow off, too, which I am very excited about. I have to do errands but oh well.
H is getting some work done so I’m playing Kingdom Hearts 3. 😄

Snow day! I’m glad they called it last night because we’ve got 10” out there now and it’s still snowing. H is currently trying to get the snow blower going so he can head into work a little late. I was hoping he’d just stay home, but he feels like he shouldn’t. Oh well. Lazy day for E and me!

Hey all! Glad you got your snow day, bethkate! Apparently N tried to bite 3 kids and sat on a baby on Friday. The DCP was fairly breezy when she mentioned it because they know it's SO out of the ordinary for N. I know it's normal for this age (which doesn't make it right, but at least it's understandable), and my mom sent me a copy of Dr. Karp's Happiest Toddler so I can read up on how to discourage this behavior at home - any suggestions/advice? (I also think his routine was basically obliterated last week between teething, being sick, three doctor visits in four days, etc. and that he was just over excited to get back to his buddies at DC. Hoping getting back into regularity this week will calm him down? I talked to the DCP who actually saw the behavior this morning and she/they will keep me informed if the behavior continues.) I'll find out this month if my promotion went through (ideally this week or next but I'm not 100% sure).

Hey all, sorry I didn't check in this weekend. We had multiple birthday plans for MH and a kids bday party yesterday. I will never again go to a party at gymboree unless I know all the kids are within a smaller age range, it was pure chaos. I stayed up too late "prepping" things for the week. Had a mini meltdown this weekend because I've been feeling very overwhelmed lately. Gonna make an appt with the counselor but also spent my commute brainstorming how to take things off my plate and fit in more self care. So far I have ordering groceries, tasking MH with packing H's lunch, getting to at least one yoga class a week, working from home 1 day a week. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know (a cleaning person is out for now since we have no good place to put the dogs).

cakewench we just do "no biting" and remove ds2 from the situation. I don't think there's much you can do at this age but redirect. They understand NO but not much else. A lot of kids will bite when they are teething or if they are annoyed/frustrated. 🤷 It's a form of communication lmao. In my experience, they grow out of it as their language skills develop. Eta if it is teething, you can always redirect him to something that he CAN bite. A frozen washcloth, my mother in law swears by frozen bagels, etc.

Self care looks different for everyone but I think you've hit the main points. How can you take some responsibilities off of yourself and what relaxes you? Prioritize the activities that relax you or make you feel calm. Adult coloring is popular, mediation (there are awesome apps), going to bed earlier, reducing blue light, etc. For me, it's going for a walk outside. I love being around trees and nature. I try to get outside time every day even if it's just refilling the bird feeder. Eta meditation not mediation 🤦

We got the book teeth are not for biting which helped, though she was a bit older. It also has tips. At this age, it could be teething and the routine change. Try to keep an eye on him getting overly tired or hungry, because fuses are shorter then (dc I mean).

Everyone in my household is currently (mostly) healthy and we leave for vacation tomorrow. Is this real life? Where is some wood to knock on? I do have a meeting I am working at until Friday but the rest of the family is on vacation and I will be come lunch time on Friday! I just need to make it through today. I am not sure if I mentioned it here, and if I did, sorry for the repeat. There is an awesome tattoo artist in my city (who happened to go to high school with my H) and she only opens her books 6-8 weeks out. She opened emails for requests on Friday and before end of day closed and said she had more requests than appointments. She got me in and I am SO excited. I am going to be doing a 1/2 sleeve in mid-May. ( quinn since I know she is our resident tattoo lover) My birthday is at the end of this month so I am going to be saving all of my birthday money for it. I am looking forward to it but just hoping I can sit for the whole 4-5 hours. I sat for 3.5 with my foot so I am pretty sure I can!

laurensc927 I’m sorry you’re having a hard time. One thing that helps me is just giving myself the permission to let things go a bit. I used to feel really anxious if my house was even a bit out of sorts, but now if I’m tired and there’s 3 loads of laundry to fold, I just let it go and go to bed. I also make food as easy as possible- it might be more expensive but sometimes it’s so much easier to buy things like precut fruit, salad kits, marinated chicken that you can just throw in the oven, etc. I also buy lunchables (the cracker, meat, and cheese kind) for ds1. I feel like that may be a confession? But idc. For some reason making his lunches is the bane of my existence so this is just much easier and he loves them.

You guys I went to bed at 8:30 last night, got up at 6:30 this morning, and still feel exhausted. Vegas is no joke. It’s not like we even partied really hard or anything but we definitely stayed up late and got up early every morning, and got almost 30k (!) steps every day. I think my next vacation needs to be a “relax on the beach” one. We’re actually going on a family trip to FL with the in-laws in a couple of weeks- but with the little ones, idk how relaxing that will be.
C has learned some animal noises. He can do a monkey and an elephant. It’s so cute. He also learned how to climb up on the kitchen chair by himself. He just climbed up and sat there while watching me put away all of the groceries this morning- I think that might be the longest he’s sat still ever since he started to crawl lol.

Ds1 is doing his readiness assessment for junior Kindergarten and I can overhear a little bit. He knows exactly how old ds2 is, down to the months. I know he's heard me say it, but not at all frequently. His memory is a steel trap. 😯 He also told me that he felt a little scared. That's the first time he's said that about a "new" situation. He usually just acts out. I'll have to send his therapist an email! He's been asking about going to see her too.

Would fitting in a monthly mani/pedi or a blowout at Drybar work? Those are things I love treating myself with. Basically someone else to do my maintenance for me. 🤣 Would a cleaning person be able to come on the day you WFH and you could keep them in the room with you? Do you and your H split day care pickup and drop off already? If not, could you start? Most days, h drops the girls off and I pick them up. That gives me the early mornings to work out and shower at the gym and go straight to work. Plus I can get ready without kids needing anything. I do have to wake up early, but it really sets my day off to a good start. Of course, that may not work with your schedule.

I love Vegas but not for the Same reasons I did in my early 20s. No more nightclubs for me. But give me all the great restaurants and fun shows!
