TLDR; A arrived at the 5am on the dot this morning weighing 6lbs 4oz and is 17.75" long after a 2 hour labor. She showed up less than an hour after getting to the hospital.
Well, another fast one!
Went to bed way too late after having some family over last night for dinner. I held their baby for two hours and oh man, it did a number on my back. I couldn't fall asleep and eventually got out of bed and took a hot bath to make it feel better, which it did. Went to bed at 12:30 and finally fell asleep. I had been having diarrhea all Monday and so when I woke up at 3, with some mild low back pain, I figured I just needed to poop. About 20 minutes later, I decided the couple contractions I went through on the toilet were kind of close together so I started up the timer on my phone. Contractions started to increase in intensity but weren't necessarily painful and were happening every 2-3min, lasting 45-50 seconds. I walked around the house for a few minutes and got my water bottle filled and ready in case we needed to go. The contractions started to increase and got to where I could put them on the pain scale.
I woke H up around 3:30 and told him I was in labor but things weren't painful too much so I wasn't sure how long until we needed to leave. He called my parents so that they had time to come to the house so my dad could stay with the boys while my mom went to the hospital with us. DS2 woke up so we made him curl up with my dad and told DS1 we were going to the hospital to have A (although, I don't think he was awake enough to get it lol). I climbed in the backseat and hung out, draped over a seat but I spent most contractions on all fours on the floor of the car. I still felt they were really manageable when we got to the hospital and felt like things were progressing at a better, slower pace than with DS2. We checked into triage at 4:08am and my contractions were moan-worthy at that point and the nurse struggled to get the monitors to stay in place with me moving around. But again, it was manageable and I thought I was going to be there for awhile. But I was 8.5cm when I got checked and her head was pressed down hard against my cervix, enough so that she couldn't feel my bag of waters. I really thought I was only 6 or 7. We made our way to a room shortly after that and they paged the doctor on call twice before he showed up. I give kudos to the nurses for managing to get an IV and bloodwork done between contractions. The doctor finally showed up and checked me and I was just shy of 10cm but he was concerned that she had meconium in her sack so he stretched me a bit and had me start pushing at 4:54, my water broke at 4:56, and A was born at 5:00am.
Omg. Guys, I even asked for nitrous oxide this time before pushing and, bless her heart, the nurse took her time and I missed out (told them I didn't want pain meds and she complied). And I thought I was going to scream at the doctor when he checked me during a contraction but I didn't. I just mumbled "f-ck." And it was so weird to be coached through the first part of pushing. I felt like I wasn't contracting enough to be pushing but I must have been. I honestly didn't think my pushing was effective until I felt her crown.
ETA: And no tearing! Again, I was shocked because I really thought I probably did given the weird pushing.
