👋🏻 hi!
It’s been 34 degrees and pouring for two days and I think I’d almost prefer snow. It’s so damp and ick. At least I can put off washing my floors today.
I have stuff to do but need to organize it into a list because it’s all just scrambling around in my brain and I can’t get any of it done.

I emailed Mara's GI doctor. When I got to work the majority of her labs were released in My Chart. We're still waiting on one of the poop results but everything else is normal. I just need to know about the x-ray and whether we should start the antihistamine or not.

I'm around. Still taking it easy. We bought the new car seats today. Picked 2 that looked really good. Got them home and started installing them. And nearly tossed them in the street. Good seats, just didn't work well with the shape of DH's car. I spent sooo long out at it (and its -16C today).

Home and waiting for the snow to start! Glad DH is home to deal with it! Lol I taught swimming, it’s my favorite day to teach because the kids are fun.
L is eating like there is no tomorrow!! He ate an entire ciabatta roll, some fajita green peppers and onions, an few ounces of chicken, 3/4c of black beans, 1/4 of a vegan turtle cookie, and a cup of chili!!

We got a bunch of snow this morning and some freezing rain. Now.. nothing. Like it’s literally fine outside. And now I’m pissed I cancelled the boys’ hair appts.
I should be finding out anyday now if B got chosen for the lottery for the pre-k in our district. Fingers crossed he gets in.

I am alive. I feel a tiny bit better today, but night tends to be worst time so we'll see how the rest of the day goes. It's like morning sickness where 5pm was puke o'clock. But obviously without the pregnancy. I've been wrapping a proposal to do a sexual violence reduction campaign so between that and feeling like shit I've just been heads down.

I was sick and congested last pregnancy from 18 weeks until delivery and the only thing that helped was the neilmed sinus rinse. I would do it in the shower to avoid any messes and once I got over the ick factor it was heaven.

I’m not in love with any of my choices, but I think she’ll do better with a few hours a week under her belt before dumping her in every day pre K class the following year. I hate this part of parenting. Thank you for the reminder!!

I’m so sorry! we didn’t even bother with the blood test because accidental exposure over the summer made it obvious that it wasn’t going away. It’s such a bummer because I know the longer we go on, the higher the chance of them never going away. Still hopeful though.

I have one really good choice that’s almost impossible to get into and one mehhh choice that I almost don’t even want to apply to. H thinks she’ll be fine waiting until the half day 5days/week the following year, but I really have no idea which way to turn.

goldenlove, no we have an appointment at the end of March. We just did this so it would be ready for that appointment. We were hoping to plan a baked-in test for that appointment but that’s not going to happen. So we’ll go, get updated epipen prescription, and updates on allergy medicine.

You can have my snow! I think we have close to 2 feet. I was shocked when I saw your IG picture. I haven’t seen that type of snow since we left PA. It's bad. It was supposed to rain today but it never really did (some rain/snow mix for a bit). It's just cloudy now and is supposed to stay that way until 3am or so when it's supposed to snow again. It does look like its going to warm up later this week, but it looks like it'll be rain during the day and snow at night. This is the snowiest (is that a word) February on record and the 8th snowiest month overall. And that's at SeaTac airport, which got less snow than we did up north.

Anyone have experience with kids and cat allergies? H is allergic, I'm not. My brothers got a cat that C plays with when he's there. I've noticed that he sometimes has red splotches on his face and this past week his nose has been running quite a bit. It could be weather related or just a cold but I'm worried that he's reacting to the cat. Not sure what to do. I don't want it to get worse if it is the cat.

M kept having similar reactions that kept getting slowly worse over the last year. It took me months and months until I finally realized that it was dog saliva. (Thank you kleigh for even teaching me that that was a things forever ago). The doxies don’t drool ever, even after drinking a ton of water or exercise so she never reacted around them. The bulldogs are a completely different story. Butttttt as the behavior issues got worse with our big guy they spent more and more time away from the family area and even normally they aren’t allowed on the couch, or in the play area and bedroom. Both bullies are/were completely uninterested in M anyway unless there was food involved and I vacuum daily, wash floors weekly. So these reactions kept happening and I had no idea why. And then I saw the English walk out of the mud room dripping water out of his mouth (gag) and Mia running around like she always does. About an hour later the sneezes and itchies started. I had to crank up the cleaning another notch, and keep very firm on her stuff versus the dogs’ stuff (with both parties). Between that and the big dog passing away she hasn’t had a reaction since my sister had her dog here on Christmas Eve. Is it instantaneous or does it take a bit to develop? He might be ok with just being able to wash his hands after playing with her and just reinforcing that he can’t touch his face after touching her.

goldenlove sophiegrace Yes! The allergist explained to me that the allergy is generally to the saliva. Which is also the reason more people are “allergic” to cats than dogs. Cats tend to lick themselves more than dogs. C’a reaction sounds similar to what AB gets (although it has improved). The splotchy redness, followed by sneezing, followed by runny then stuffy nose for several days. In the beginning, he also got tiny hives (perfectly round tiny dots here and there among the red splotches) and the sneezing. Now after exposure he doesn’t get the tiny hives really and seems to only sneeze once or twice, if at all (he also used to get very red watery eyes). He does still get splotchy and runny/stuffy nose for several days. Luckily no wheezing. C’a reaction, if to the cat, sounds minor but oh could always try Zyrtec or Benadryl and see if there’s a difference o narrow it down.

He might be ok with just being able to wash his hands after playing with her and just reinforcing that he can’t touch his face after touching her. I'm not sure how quickly it could be happening since I'm not there but I feel likes it only happens when he's there as opposed to being home or at ILs. And I didn't notice it until they got the cat about a month ago, but maybe I just missed it. I haven't even mentioned it to my mom yet but maybe I will. I'll ask her to keep his hands washed after handling the cat. It sucks because he loves playing with him and he's always playing with his toys so it'll take some work. My parents will eventually be moving out when they find their own house so if C is allergic, he won't be around the cat too much longer.
