Here we go ladies!!! Tomorrow marks day 1 of the whole life challenge!
I am excited to live in here for the next six weeks. I hope you all will share your meal plans, workout tips, successes, struggles, supports and hacks.
My first hack: I am filling up my 32 oz water bottle tonight and placing it next to my bed so that when I wake up, the first thing I do is drink water.
Here is the Wellness Practice for the week:
This Week We Create a Golden Hour for Ourselves Simple Instructions:
For one hour each day, shut down your electronics (things like phones, email, texts, TV, and social media) and be with yourself. This should not be during a time when these items would be off by default anyway, like your commute. Use this “Golden Hour” to mine the gold in your life: do things that are personal and enriching for you. This could be meditation, journaling, reading, taking a walk, or spending uninterrupted time with loved ones. We recommend starting the day with this practice, but if the morning is impractical, you can do this at any time during the day, even at work.
Anyone who hates everything about this practice I encourage you to share about it here. What we don't like can inform us just as much, if not more, than what we do like.

I love your water strategy yoginikiki. Stealing that.

I love your water strategy yoginikiki . Stealing that. It makes a big difference in my day if I start it with water vs. coffee. If I start it with coffee I usually have to finish my coffee and re-fill it before I drink water!

I’m so pumped!
And already nervous about the phone thing. But I’m embracing...I’m embracing.

I’m ready! I’m taking the idea above and filling my water bottle and putting it in the fridge to get nice and cold. I’m still going to have my morning coffee but only one cup.
I’m ready for the golden hour. I’m going to use it to get some quiet crocheting done this week.

I always have water by my bed but don't always drink it in the morning. I might start that. When I'm in good health and well-being practices I always chug a glass while I up first thing in the morning though. I need to get back to that.
We're going to be snowed in this weekend so hopefully I can stay on track.

I'm annoyed with the practice, but I know I need to do it. First thing in the morning definitely won't be it.
I still haven't figured out what I am doing for nutrition. Should probably get on that today.

I took my “golden hour” at the pool today. I swam for a full hour. I didn’t keep track of my laps. I just focused on how my body felt, and let my mind wander. It was really nice, actually. The time went by quickly. (Having a lane to myself also helped.) Afterward, I did a 25 minute guided meditation run on the treadmill. (So, technically plugged in for that. But not in the way I’d usually be.)

Good morning! I am at work and used a ten minute break to get my mobility in. Started strong with water but need to get more in me.
I'm headed to the store for some snow day rations. I have to fight the urge to go with my usual snow day traditions of drinking beer and eating snacks so I'm thinking of other healthy options.
I think I'll use my golden hour to get my seedlings started and spend some time playing (like actually playing) with my little guys.
I'm feeling pumped guys!

Ok. I did my golden hour this morning by gong back to bed and sleeping for a bit. I hit my sleep goal then too and now I feel terrific. That feels like cheating the system but whatever, I feel good.
I’m kind of at a loss of what to do for myself for the rest of the week for this. Probably legos with my oldest. He’s going to love this.

I did my golden hour this morning playing with my kids. I'm embarrassed that there was a few times I felt like checking my phone. My gosh, I need to learn to enjoy the moment more.
I got in five miles on my treadmill. My nutrition will be off. We're getting snowed in but plan to venture to my brother's restaurant as a means of getting out of the house since it's less than 3 miles from us. So yeah. I can't make my usual order fit my macros but I can still be under calories so that will have to do.
I'm getting close to my water goal too. And including being up with DD1 for a stretch last night I just squeaked out my seven hours of sleep.
I'm hopeful this will help center me a bit more. Baby Boot Camp's 8 week wellness challenge starts the first week of February so the overlap will be helpful.

GhoatMonket , not going to lie when I saw the practice last night I was like...damn...GM is going to hate this. At least we are getting this one out of the way early on?? At least it's not a complete ban like the one time. Because LOL no. The bulk of info for my nephew is coming over FB so they could FRO with that. I plan on doing an hour later tonight. I think it's actually going to be a useful thing right now.

Workout and stretching is done - with the help of the 4yo who thinks there is nothing funnier than watching me exercise. But whatever, it makes it easier to do when I see him watching me.
I need to start chugging the water though and figure out a meal plan because right now I have no idea what I’m going to have for lunch

They have matched him with recipients for his heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, and pancreas. Skin and eyes aren't usable unfortunately.

Thanks everyone.
Honestly I am probably taking a FB break other than a couple groups for a bit after the funeral. I find myself doing stupid things like scrolling through his photo albums after a couple beers. I want to yell at people constantly and I can't tell if it's PMS or this or a combo (probably that) but I'm just so done with stupid shit at this point. So self care and what have you.
I think writing out a plan for how I am going to handle things for this challenge and maybe rough planning for meets this year will be on my non-tech checklist to tackle tonight.

I did my workout. Fit test. All the things. I feel like crap. I think this is probably the most out of shape I have ever been...like, my teeth hurt and I want to throw up after not so much activity.
I am really glad that I committed myself to this because I can't continue letting this baseline be my baseline. Here's to the upswing guys!

XP from Daily Reflection WLC Feed:
Hello everyone! I hope you all had at least one positive takeaway from the first day of the challenge!
I noticed today that I dread exercise. I never have dreaded it before, but I have never been this out of shape before. It sucked to work out today, but at the same time, I am glad that I am forcing myself to do it. If I feel this crotchety at 33 -- I can't continue this path and expect to be a fit AF 90 year old.
So yeah, I have some serious work to do. Instead of getting down on myself for needing to do so much work....I am going to be proud of myself for getting started on it- and not just pretending it away.

Don't forget to log your scores!! Scoring opens at 7:00 p.m. in whatever time zone you are in!

If it helps Kiki, I felt the exact same when I did the fit test (I started like 2 weeks ago). Like crying, pity party for how I ever let myself get back to this out of shape dumpy person who had no strength left. It was sad.
Anyways, my point is that I feel like my strength has come back quicker than I thought. I already feel some difference and I know it’s faster than when I originally started. All that matters is that you did it today - right? Lol. That’s what I tell myself anyhow

Ok, scores are in. I only gave myself a 2/5 for food. I follow macros, I'm not doing their food plan. I followed my breakfast and lunch plan but did poorly at dinner. My brother changed his menu so we got a bunch of new stuff to try then stopped for dessert on the way home. So I kind of just scored that by feel. Is there a better way to judge that one?

I think this is totally fine. I mean, scoring for all of this is based on the honor system anyway. I like to think of it as choices vs. an overall assessment. I like this approach because it helps me to feel in control and really think about what is worth using a point for. Sounds like your choices were totally worth it!!!!

Still fumbling food wise, but have a rough plan going forward thanks to the forced tech break. I know it was mentioned that I usually push back at those, but it was a nice break. I have a book I bought a year ago that I hadn't touched that I made some decent progress on tonight.
I actually started my time tonight with DS and playing a game with him on his phone (yes, electronic, whatever). But I ended up getting caught up in my book a bit and read for over an hour anyway.
I'm giving myself a bit of leeway on things until after the funeral (Tuesday), then tightening up ship a bit on that front, then in early Feb I will get things back on a better track. I have some other goals I need to get nailed down as well and some timelines for those too. I originally did some goals at the start of the year and included for this challenge. I will hit my sleep and water goals the first two weeks. For me in past challenges, if those two are off track, everything seems to go, so keeping those on course if my best bet for keeping everything else in line too.
