I had my induction scheduled for 11/13 and went in to my OB for a cervix check. I was 1 cm still and soft. They then told me to come in to the hospital at 12am to start my induction.
H and I arrived at the hospital at 12 am and got checked in. They took us to our room and we waited until 3am for them to place the cytotec to soften my cervix. At 4am I started contractions every 5 minutes. Those continued until they checked me at 6:30am. I was 3 cm and 50% effaced. I asked for the epidural at that point which was kind of a gamble because I thought it might be to early. I waited too late to do it with DS2 and it was really hard and painful to place.
After the epidural was placed at 7:30am I was feeling ok for a bit and they had started.my pitocin drip. My OB came and broke my water too right after I got the epidural. Then at about 8:30am I was feeling the pressure from the contractions more and I called my nurse in to check my cervix even though she said I wasn't due to be checked for another 3 hours. I was dialated to 5 cm then.
At 9am the pressure of contractions was super noticeable and my nurse had just walked into the room again so I mentioned it to her again. I think I said that I kind of wanted to be checked again but I know she just did it so I felt crazy asking her. She humored me and checked again and I was 10 cm and was ready to push. Then she disappeared for what felt like forever to get the OB and everyone that's supposed to be in the room. Then people started to arrive and get my legs up. I think my body was pushing on it's own at that point because my OB looked a bit panicked and told me to just let her get some gloves on at least.
3 short pushes later Felix arrived with his cord wrapped around his neck twice. He started crying just a few seconds after that and they laid him on my chest. Short after that I started feeling really dizzy and told my OB I had ringing in my ear and that someone needed to take Felix away from me. They did and threw an oxygen mask in me just as I started to pass out. My blood pressure had bottomed out and I was in and out of consciousness for a bit.
I eventually started to perk up and was begging for them to let me nurse Felix. They told me not until the anesthesiologist cane back to give me some meds for my BP.
I eventually got to nurse him and he latched great and did really well. It took forever for the numbness from the epidural to wear off. I couldn't feel my butt at all until like 2 pm.
All said and done it was a lightning fast labor and delivery but it ended well and I am recovering really well too. No narcotics needed and I only took the 800 mg ibuprofen the first 24 hours after.
ETA: pitocin was started after my epidural.
