Because WWTFFYD is a bit much.
DS1 has been doing really well with PTing, he hasn't had a pee accident in close to 3 or 4 weeks. That being said, the kid can hold it very long and for the past week or so he's only going 2-3 times a day. Dry in the AM/after nap. Not complaining of pain. He will sit on the potty but nothing will come out. Fluid intake is normal but I'm giving him extra juice (which he never usually gets) to get him to pee more.
I think 2-3 times a day is really not average. I'm talking 6:30am into late afternoon with no pee. Do you think this warrants a call to the pedi? I'm worried he'll give himself a UTI or something.
This will be a post and run, I'll be able to check back tomorrow. TIA!

I used to be able to hold it like that when I was young. I could do an entire school day without needing to go to the bathroom.
I would keep an eye but I wouldn’t worry per se about it.

I have no advice. I have a ridiculously small bladder and pee a thousand times a day so my view of normal is skewed.
Does he go a lot when he goes? When DD holds it she then pees enough for an adult.

Ds1 (almost 4) is a camel too. We pushed him to go every two hours or whatever it was they did at daycare and he'd get mad at us and frustrated because he didn't have to go. Now he just goes on his own unless we are leaving to go somewhere or it's bed time. As long as his fluid intake is normal and his pee isn't like dark yellow, I wouldn't worry too much.

It's a decent amount. He doesn't really do the "dance" so I'm guessing he just can hold it like a camel. Thanks ladies, I'm going to bring it up when I take them in for their flu shots but since he's acting normal I guess we'll just go with it.

If he wasn't going that much I'd be worried about kidney function. Bringing it up at the flu shot appointment sounds like a good idea.

Lurker and late...but my kid is like this too any has been for a long time (she is 4 now but potty trained at 19 months). She will pee at wake up, after lunch, and before bed. Very occasionally once in the afternoon. She drinks lots and urine colour etc is normal, she just can hold it forever.

My 5yo only pees 3 times a day. She pees before bed around 8, and will not pee when she wakes and will go until about 10 before she pees, this is everyday. The pedi said some kids just do this, and up her fluids.
