I get why the Hollywood powers that be would want to make a Craft remake, but it bums me out. Leave my 8th grade teen angst alone!! Fun fact: my BFF and I did a "seance" in her driveway at a sleepover after watching that movie for the 800th time and made a "magic" spiral design out of nail polish on the asphalt. That was 20 (!) years ago and the magic spiral is still there. Her parents were (are?) PISSED Haha what color? Bright pink, because that is cery magical

I love classic stuff too pearbear. Did any of you watch Bates Motel? It was so good. It lost he plot a bit in season 3 but 4 and 5 were excellent. I love Vera Verminga.

I like a ton of horror movies but have a tough time with some possession movies. Saying that though the Exorcist is one of my top 5 favorites. I also love the descent, rec, Halloween, the witch, and lots more. The conjuring 2 scared the hell out of me. The Decent is so nuts. I almost died of claustrophobia. It was the worst. I made the mistake of seeing this movie in theaters. I had my bf at the time drive home because I was shaking so bad. Fuck that movie.

miawallace I've seen Orphan about 1/2 dozen times. I can get into the creepy kid angle. The Good Son, Omen, and Bad Seed are all great.

I watched The Faculty last night for the zillionth time and it got me thinking about alien stuff.
Do you guys remember the McPherson Tapes? It was a hoax, but I remember watching the video when I was young and I was scared as fuck.
Here's the vid.

I think it was one of the first attempts at found footage horror. There is a 90's version of this.
I'm in an alien hole today.

I watch The Strangers every year (once a year) during the month of October. I can't wait it after that bc it scares me so much. It's one of my favorites! The same also goes for Sinister. Not a favorite, but scares the crap out of me and I only watch it during our Scary Movie October month. Halloween is one of DH and I's favorite holidays Another "newer" movie I really enjoyed was Dark Skies. Halloween is sacred for my H and I. We have had to scale down on the actual horror because we have a 2 year old. But I absolutely love Halloween. We watch Halloween 1 and 2 every year. I have become a fan of James Wan recently because he does really good ghost movies. I loved Conjuring and Anabel. I loved the first 2 Insidious movies. Yes, these are my favorite! And hi, just jumping in here because I LOVE scary shit.

I'm really excited for the It remake. This movie terrified me as a child. For weeks I had to shower staring at the drain the whole time for fear that Pennywise was going to come through it. Washing my hair was the worst during that time. I was frantic for those 10 seconds I had to close my eyes. And yet I am still SO excited for this remake.

I like scary stories, ghost stories, creepypasta type stuff. I love shows about hauntings. Paranormal stuff is fun. I do not like gory horror films anymore. The Saw movies were horrifying. I hated it. The worst movie I ever saw was Strangers. That shit scared me for months, maybe years. I might still scare me Love thrillers. This is me too except I never saw Strangers. I used to be able to watch almost any horror movie but I just can't stomach them anymore. I definitely can't watch gory movies. No thank you.

Paging klong11, cagoldi, and xolastunicornxo. We're all horror movie fans. I also am interested in the other things you mentioned plus true crime. I think it passed on to my girls too because they are mini creepers. Two of their favorite movies are Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas. I don't have much time for it now, but I watch movies when I can. I used to read a lot of Stephen King. The Talisman is one of my favorites. I loved The Talisman. You are the first person I've "met" who has read it.

Did you also read the sequel Black House?

But I read Talisman several times, the first time I was maybe 10 or 11, and went through a phase where I wanted to be Jack. I keep trying to get mh to read it.

You're daily spook
not me. From my email subscription.
About ten years ago my 3 year old son and I moved into a new house. Well, it was new to us, but it was actually a very old house. The inside of the house always seemed to be just a little darker and a little colder than it should be. I had noticed that the first time I went to view the house but as it was summer I figured it would save on cooling costs.
Soon after we moved in a friend of mine came by. We were sitting and talking for a few minutes but she seemed uncomfortable the whole time. Then I saw in her face that something in the other room caught her attention. Her eyes got big. She said "I have to go." I asked her what was wrong but she said she didn't want to tell me. I kept after her because her reaction was kind of freaking me out. On her way out the door she finally said "This house is haunted" but she wouldn't tell me what made her think so. Still to this day ten years later she refuses to tell me what she saw.
About a week after that night my 3 year old son casually asked me who the old lady in the bathroom was.
One day I was leaving for work but once I got to the car I realized I needed to run back in the house to get something. I walked in to the house and as soon as I got inside this framed photo on the wall shot off the wall. Now, I don't mean it fell because of some issue with the nail or anything like that. It shot horizontally away from the wall, not vertically down. And it landed on a mosaic table with enough force to break some of the tiles off of it. I felt like whatever was in the house was pissed that I came back in after it thought I had left for the day!
After living in the house for about six months, I noticed a weird square cut into the boards on the deck. There was no handle but I was able to pry it up. The hole was just big enough to fit through, and there was a ladder going down. For some reason I went down and found myself in what looked like a homemade basement. It was basically just a room dug out of the earth, no constructed walls or stone supports or anything like you would expect if it was a basement that was built with the house. It was very dark but I could see over in the corner a suspicious-looking large stone. It looked like one of those light-colored 100+ year old headstones that you see in old cemeteries. Just then some camel crickets started jumping at me so I got my ass out of that "basement" as fast as I could and never went back.
Now, this is the part that affected me most and the reason we left the house. One night I was in bed but not yet asleep, laying on my stomach. I heard someone walk into the room. I heard footsteps come from the doorway over to my bed. I didn't realize until later that the fact that I heard the footsteps was weird because the room was carpeted. When the footsteps reached my bed, I felt someone put their hands on my back. Two hands, just gently laid flat on my back and kept there. I assumed it was my son. I said "What are you doing?" but no one answered. I looked up and no one was there. I got up and checked my son's bedroom but he was in bed asleep.
We moved out soon after that.

Creepy story. (Not mine obvs)
Out of context, this is an incredibly normal story, but it suddenly gets very creepy after a few months.
One night I went out with a friend near Liverpool St, London. We were in a pub and I wanted to draw more money out so we could get more drinks. I left the pub and walked down toward the cash machine, drew out my cash, then came back. As I went to enter the door to the pub a cabbie pulled up and got out and said “Hey, excuse me?” I said hello back. “I just won the lottery!” he said. “I’ve got champagne and I’m going to have a party, do you want to come?” I laughed it off and told him no thanks and went into the pub.
Months later I was reading the paper on the tube and saw that a serial rapist had been arrested. He was a cab driver operating in London and was luring women into his cab by saying he’d won the lottery and had champagne. I’m guessing it was the exact same guy.
