I love the sit me up, was my fave bit of baby gear with DS1 hands down. He was small and happily sat in it while I showered or prepped dinner or vacuumed until he was 1.
This baby doesn’t love it, he has some seriously nommable thighs that are close to getting stuck in the leg holes and he’s only five months. He’s wearing 12 month size clothes and they’re tight in the belly.
Looking at things like bumbos, I think I’d have the same leg hole issues.
He can’t sit unsupported yet, just kind of folds in half or tips over.
He’s a needy dude and wants to be held all the time, but not worn. He’s no longer loving laying on the activity mat.
What other baby holding/containing devices do you have that I could look into? I’m really missing being able to shower without a baby yelling at me. He doesn’t nap either so have to shower when he’s awake. ::sobs::

I should add he’s also grown out of the swing too. 😭

Does your high chair have a 5 point harness? That's what we did with my (very chubby thighed) DS.

Exersaucers? Love or hate? Depends on the baby. DD1 loved it. We also use a high chair for containment. I also have the rock n play that I ferry her about the house in.

I would not be surprised if he hates it. I’m lacking in local mum friends too so don’t know anyone with one I can try. I guess I can just buy one on Buy swap sell and on sell if he hates it.

Exersaucers? Love or hate? We do the exesaucer a lot. He loves the toys it comes with and the annoying song it plays

Would a little bouncer chair work Shoes? Or something like that infant to toddler rocker by a fisher price?

DD2 tried to sit up in the RnP now 😭😭 She has HUGE thighs (got it from her mama 😂) and fits just fine in the bumbo! I really want one of those mama and papas seats (similar but with a detachable activity mat in the tray) but there aren’t any near me on Facebook marketplace and I’m not paying full price LOL. There are tons of bimbos for almost nothing though! It might be worth the $10-15 to try it out. We also have an exersaucer type seat on both floors. This fisher price rocker is great too! I like that it vibrates, has different recline levels, and can be a toddler seat.

I’ve not seen that fisher price chair here, I’ll get looking!
The high needs thing right now is breaking me, you should see the state of my house at the moment.

N is big and has chunky legs and fits fine in the Bumbo. My DS was even chunkier and also fit. I think it's great, so if you can find one for cheap you could try it!
I also have a cheap, foldable jumper/activity centre. It has very few activities lol, but I actually love it and I can attach toys to it. Both my kids have been happy to sit in there for 20 minutes at a time. It's the Summer Infant Pop N Jumper.
N is just starting to figure out she can actually jump a bit in there so I'm going to set up my Jolly Jumper soon, too.

***Whispers*** sometimes I put Sesame Street on and plop DD2 in her exersaucer thing so I can shower/pee/drink coffee while it’s still hot. She really likes it.

I can only talk about the Bumbo since that's all we have got DS. I won't highly recommend it, but I'll share some thoughts:
-baby fitting as mentioned. My SIL says my nephew didn't fit when he was a baby but he's two now and went and sat on it and apparently fit. 🤷 😂
-using chairs before they can support their torso. This is a concern and the shape of the Bumbo is not good for their development. I know sometimes you need to sit your kid in something, no judgment, but maybe something to research a bit. I already had a used Bumbo before I knew all this and we use it a little. DS can now sit in it without leaning sideways and can move his torso around quite well so we use it just for mealtimes. Also depending on body strength they can pop themselves out by straightening their torso. Maybe not when the tray is properly stretched though?
-the tray. It's great that it has an attachable tray, but for BLW it's kinda small, plus has next to no ledge around it so he sweeps his food off way too easily.
TL;DR -have and use Bumbo, but wouldn't buy again. Be aware of developmental concerns

That toddler rocker that Leaf 🌱 posted is awesome--lou uses that at daycare sometimes and always goes bananas for the toys.

I hate paying full price for baby crap but may pick this one up bc it’s so nice and neutral. Less painful on my eyes 😂😂

Plus it can convert to an activity table once baby can stand, and then just a regular table. They make chairs to go with it, sold separately of course.

We have the rocker Leaf 🌱 posted at our house. N hates it because she can't reach the toys yet. We have the sit me up seat at my parents that she LOVES. Like stares at it longingly when she's not in it. ...I should switch.

Any ideas for what to set up to keep DD2 away from DD1’s stuff? Do I just put a pack n play up? We are pretty good about picking everything up but DD1’s toys have little pieces (FU LOL DOLLS) and it will be much easier to just separate them some how.
