How old is your LO? 9 weeks
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Almost exclusively nursing. I do pump once a day so daddy sometimes will give a bottle.
0-3 mo Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I was worried about nursing in public, but I found that I'm actually less stressed about it than I thought. I do try to find myself the quietest most remote spot to sit, and I cover up for my own sense of modesty, but I had to nurse F in a large open airport terminal (5 gates use the same terminal when I fly home from Toronto) and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
Questions/AW?
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently I haven't really done anything just for myself for a while. I do have a hair appointment next week that I was considering postponing, but I think I'm going to go anyways. I'm going to be getting my hair bleached in preparation for doing sunset hair

How old is your LO? -11mo
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? -nursing and pumping
9-12mo Do you have plans to TTC that affect your BF plans? -NOPE
Questions/AW? -No questions really. I'm a little nervous about weaning off the pump soon, but I can't wait!
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? -I try to take one night a week where after I nurse DS, DH does the rest of the bedtime routine and I LEAVE. Run an errand, get some dessert, window shop, whatever. It's the best.

How old is your LO? 6 weeks
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing- going fine
0-3 mo Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? Frequently- I usually throw a light swaddling blanket over DS3.
Questions/AW? need to start pumping for a stash/bottle practice. it was so hectic this week that i didn't get a chance to start. needless to say, i'm not looking forward to it.
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? With a newborn, not much. I try to get out for an hour sans baby 1-2x a week.

gingy I need to do that more often after I get ds2 in bed. That's a great way to get some self care!

How old is your LO? 10 months old.
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing and he gets solids at least once a day. I'm trying to introduce a sippy cup.
9-12mo Do you have plans to TTC that affect your BF plans? God no. Dh is getting a vasectomy sooner rather than later.
Questions/AW? Ds2 can sign for milk now. He seems to be doing it whenever he wants food of any kind but it's a start! Any suggestions on night weaning? He's still up at least once a night and I'd like to night wean him when he's a year old.
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? Blaaaah. I'm in need of self care. My mom keeps saying she's going to come over to watch ds2 so I can run out but it never works out. So I basically just need to pay a babysitter so I can get a couple hours without a grumpy, teething milk monster.

LO is 7 months old
I'm nursing and pumping. It is fine but I'm already counting down to a year.
Ds2 gets purees and baby cereal at daycare. He gets snacks and usually part of dinner at home. He loves it. His daycare teacher said when he won't drink his bottle, she mixes the milk with cereal and he will go to town. Self care: I got home from work early last week and took a nap. It was glorious

How old is your LO? - 2 months Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? - nursing. Hand expressing or manual pumping on occasion. He’s had a few bottles with good success. 0-3 moNursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? - GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? - I need to do this, hence the question. We just bought a rower & set it up so now it’s just figuring out when working out fits in my day.

Hi!!! May I come back to play, I’ve been a terrible HIH participant but working and babying is hard How old is your LO? 11 1/2 months Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing mornings, evenings and weekends, pumping at work for daycare 9-12moDo you have plans to TTC that affect your BF plans? Newp.... every time I think I may want another, I realize how tired I am and this won’t get easier with age Questions/AW? I am at such a loss of what to do with bottles for daycare in 3 weeks, do I just go cold turkey sippy, do I introduce WCM for during day? So confusing, I think this is the hardest part so far! GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? It wasn’t me for myself but since I was still waiting for DD to make her entrance on my 40th, MH threw me a surprise party 2 weeks ago, it was so sweet!!

Questions/AW? I am at such a loss of what to do with bottles for daycare in 3 weeks, do I just go cold turkey sippy, do I introduce WCM for during day? So confusing, I think this is the hardest part With ds1 I sent 1 bottle per day for the first week or 2 and then stopped sending bottles. They provided food and WCM and do this transition all the time so I'm not sure exactly what they did but it was smooth.

Questions/AW? I am at such a loss of what to do with bottles for daycare in 3 weeks, do I just go cold turkey sippy, do I introduce WCM for during day? So confusing, I think this is the hardest part so far! We sent a sippy cup to daycare for water when DD was around 11 months. At 12 months they used those for her breast milk, and told me to stop send bottles. I kept pumping and DD is happy to drink breast milk from her sippy cup. If you want to stop pumping, you just need to cut down nursing during work hours. Whether you start WCM is up to you - if you want to keep nursing mornings and evenings, you don't need to introduce WCM. Or you can give her whole milk yogurt, cheese, oatmeal with milk, etc. instead of a cup of milk. I've slowly cut back - we cut out her 12pm milk first, and I just sent more lunch. Then we cut the 3pm milk and she gets a bigger snack. I think in a week or so we'll cut the 9am milk and I'll be pump free

We have been doing the water sippy for a few months when she dropped from 5 bottles at daycare to 3. She already has a cheese snack and either full fat yogurt or cottage cheese so this may not traumatize me as much as I anticipated.

Hi!!! I’m just joining!
How old is your LO? Almost 3 weeks
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing is going great. She is gaining weight like a champ. She has an obvious lip tie that is giving her a lip blister. I have an appt with an ENT next week to check it out. Part of me wants it revised and part of me feels bad. Tough decisions.
0-3 mo Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I didn’t do this much with DD1 but need to figure out a system with DD2 so I feel comfortable leaving the house. I have huge boobs and usually hold it up the whole time taking a hand so I need to figure out how to do this discreetly.
Questions/AW? I can’t remember the “rules” on wine and breastfeeding?
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? I painted my toe nails and shower daily. That’s about all I have!

westiemom you can experiment with propping up your breast with a burp rag underneath. Football position using your diaper bag as an arm rest? A baby carrier may help when LO is less floppy. Re: wine, if you’re safe to hold the baby then you’re safe to nurse. Alcohol goes in and out of your milk the same way it does your blood so no need to pump “drunk” milk out so your body can make “sober” milk.

How old is your LO? 5 days
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing, have pumped/supplemented a tiny bit. We’re struggling (see my separate post).
0-3 mo Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? I have no qualms about NIP. I did it a lot with DS1 and if I manage to get BF well-established for DS2 then I’ll happily do it again.
Questions/AW? Not really...
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? Ummm... I took a nap when the baby was sleeping this morning? That’s all I got.

Hope it’s okay to join in over here!
How old is your LO? 12 weeks, almost 6 weeks adjusted
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing with the occasional bottle. So far it’s going much smoother than last time.
0-3 mo Nursing in public: questions, experiences, anecdotes? Since this is my second, nursing in public doesn’t really faze me. I had to nurse her on the plane coming home Sunday which was a little interesting but she did well.
Questions/AW? We’ve haven’t had to supplement yet! With my son, we started supplementing at 8 weeks. I’m hoping her weight check goes well in about a week. Since she was a preemie, I’m hoping her weight gain is still good now that we’ve dropped all bottles and fortifying.
GTKY: What is something you’ve done just to take care of or treat yourself recently? My sister and I got pedicures a week ago and it was relaxing.

pepperpottsj, one of my kids never wanted to drink BM out of anything except a bottle (he would happily drink water out of a straw cup or sippie, but never BM). and the other one didn't really like WCM and refused to drink it at daycare. so just drop one pumping session at a time, sending less bottles and more food, and then roll with whatever your kid wants to do. you can mix in BM with WCM to try to transition to WCM if you want... but, if you are still going to be nursing at home, there's no reason LO HAS to have WCM at DC. LO can eat a variety of foods at DC and drink water, and that's fine!

westiemom, here's a post from dr. jack newman, a lactation expert, on exactly how much alcohol is in your milk after drinking... for comparison's sake, orange juice can naturally contain up to 0.5% alcohol.

Does anyone have any knowledge about the composition of breast milk changing? My milk has always had a pretty thin layer of fat when it’s in the fridge but the past few days, it has flipped and has a super thick layer of fat, most of the time anyway. DD has also been wanting to nurse for shorter periods of time so I’m wondering if the two are related?
