For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation?

1. How old is your LO? 14 months
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 0-2 I always offer before bedtime and naps and he acts like he wants to but gets fussy when I get him in position (cradle). He doesn't want nurse side-lying and I've tried a few times with him sitting up on my lap. But then at random times he'll want to nurse and I can't get him to stop. He can go a full day without nursing and my supply's always been low so I don't think he is getting much of anything when he does nurse.
3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Nothing yet. I've been signing to him for a long time but he just recently made up his own sign to nurse (or is it a sign that I don't know?) and puts his thumb and index finger together.
4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? We started with him in a side car until he outgrew it, then he slept in a PnP next to our bed until about 10 months when we moved him into the crib in his room.
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? We've only been to the IL's camp with them so far and going back next week with the rest of H's family. I could maybe see us going on a kid-free vacation at some point but probably not until he is quite a bit older - I'm not sure.

1. How old is your LO? 2.5 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 1, sometimes more. 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? milkies 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? SHe started out in pack-n-play insert by bed. When she got big enough to roll, she moved into bed with us. FOr a long period of time, she started out in her crib and then would get in bed with us at first wake-up. About six months ago, she stopped sleeping in the crib and just slept in bed with us. A month or so ago, we moved a mattress in our room on the floor and she sleeps there now. She's pretty much out of the bed but still in our room. THe plan is to move her big girl bed into her big girl room (getting it ready now). We will see how that goes. I'm guessing poorly... ha. Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? 35 weeks. Doing great. She is mostly just nursing before bed. I'm starting to cut the sessions a little shorter. Mostly because she is obsessed with playing with my belly button and it's driving me crazy. Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? Question for other moms: How do you do this whole thing?!?!?!?!? I didn't know if she would still be nursing but it appears so. I mostly just nurse her at night so I'm assuming I nurse new baby first and then her around that time?? No clue because what if the timing of the sessions doesn't line up. Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? We went on a family vacay to the beach. It was nice and relaxing. I would like to but considering we don't ever even get babysitters, i doubt this will happen for years.

@kelltothekell, DS1 was a huge twiddler and i HATED it. he did either my belly button or my other nipple. your DD is definitely old enough that you can have a zero-tolerance policy for twiddling-- she twiddles, milkies are over.
you kind of have to play it by ear as far as tandem nursing. when your milk comes in, your DD will probably want to nurse all the time. be prepared to set limits (the baby needs milk first, you can eat big girl food, you have to wait your turn, let me read you a book while i nurse the baby, etc.). there's also the jealousy component at play. if you can tolerate nursing both kids at once, it's a little easier. i couldn't stand it, so i never did both at once if i could possibly help it. i always nursed the baby first, and then limited DS1 to maybe 3x per day. at the very beginning i let him nurse more often because a) he was crazed for milk, and b) i was really engorged and it helped to have him nurse bc he was more efficient than the baby. so yeah, you kind of have to wait and see. your supply will regulate to give you as much milk as you need for both kids.

1. How old is your LO? 2.5 (coming up on 2.75, what??!) 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 2-4 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Milky 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? She started bedsharing, then in a crib in our room, then in the crib sharing a room with her big sis, to a toddler bed, and now she is in a twin bed (she and her sister have bunkbeds).
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? Our big vacation is still a couple of weeks away. I'm practically counting the hours. We go up to the mountains/lakes of NH. DH and I would go on a kid free vacation. In April we did 3days/2nights a plane ride away (technically I was working, but I had some free time). In a few years we want to plan a longer trip.

1. How old is your LO? 15 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3 or 4 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Night even yet, he just follows me around the house being at me. We are working on sign language. 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? He is in his own room and has been since 6 weeks.
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? Currently on vacation with my parents and sisters. It's interesting because we all have completely different parenting techniques. Dh wanted to do an adults only vacation for our tenth this year, but I'm not quite ready yet.

1. How old is your LO? 17 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? I think we're down to 4, and I'm dropping a pumping session starting today! 1 more to go! 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Na 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? As a newborn she slept in a crib next to our bed. At 6 months DH and I moved to the guest room for a few weeks to try out having her in another room. And then we moved her crib to her room. We acted like it was a big change, but her crib is just on the other side of the wall - even though it's the next room, it's maybe a 6 inch move.
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? We went to the beach with friends and spent a week with DHs family on the mountains. I would go on a kidfree vacation if someone offered to watch DD while we were gone. Maybe when she's older and can be sent to her grandparents houses.

1. How old is your LO? 17 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 5 times on a week day, more on weekends 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? More 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? Bedsharing since he was 4 months. I'm in a catch 22: can't sleep train until he's weaned, but can't wean while bedsharing.
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation?
Yes we spent a week at the beach. DS2 was Velcroed to me 24/7. He's in a really clingy phase. I may have to request work travel to get some kid-free time.

1. How old is your LO? Almost 15 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3-4 times per day during the week. 6-7 times on the weekend. 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Doesn’t have one yet, but I knows what I mean when I say we’re all done with milk right now. 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? He slept in our room in a bassinet as a newborn until he was almost 5 months old (it was a large family heirloom cradle thing). At that time, we moved him to the crib in the nursery because it seemed like we were disturbing him more. I was nervous, but he did great. djs I’ve always call considered sleep training and night weaning to be two separate steps. You can always have him sleep in his own room at bedtime and then slowly reduce feedings overnight when you’re ready. Older kids (probably closer to 18-24 months) respond well to OK to Wake clocks too.

1. How old is your LO? 14 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? A lot 3. What is your LO's name for nursing? Nothing yet. She just points to it and goes “ehhh??” 4. What is your LO's sleeping arrangement (crib, toddler bed, twin bed, sidecarred crib, bedsharing...)? How has it changed (or not) since your LO was a newborn? Bedsharing. Been that way since the start. I did just buy a crib a couple months ago but haven’t used it yet except for a couple naps
Non-BFing question: Do you/did you go on vacation this summer? Would you ever go on a kid-free vacation? Yes, we went to Seattle and Navarre, FL. I would go on a kid free one but not until the kids are older and I’m no longer nursing.
