How old is your LO? 4 weeks, 1 dayAre you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing and going ok. my nipples are still kind of sore but i think it's just from constant nursing.0-3 mo Getting through growth spurts okay? There was definitely one around 2 weeks, and one just now at 4 weeks. The past few days have been brutal. then yesterday he actually slept during the day for a couple hours- my nipples felt sooo much better after the break. not sure yet what things will be like today but i hope he's done growth-spurting. Questions/AW? Can't think of anything.GTKY: if you could be an Olympic level athlete for a day, which sport would you choose? Hmm, I dunno, track? Running super-fast seems appealing.

LO is 4 weeks today.
Nursing only right now, although if her reflux doesn't slow up, the pediatrician wants us to supplement.
I have no idea what's a growth spurt, because she tends to spit up everything all the time, we've been constantly nursing pretty much since day 1. We both fit the signs of her having a tongue tie of some sort, so we have an appointment tomorrow with a doctor/IBCLC to get her evaluated and revised, if necessary. I'm really hoping that's all it is (because I don't want to supplement and wash all those bottles haha). My oldest had a minor tie, but we were able to work around it, but this one keeps sliding off the breast every 15 seconds or so and I've already had one bout of mastitis last week.
AW- NIP is so much more comfortable this go around. Not necessarily easier, because it's hard to keep her latched properly, but I feel more comfortable with it.
GTKY- either snowboarding or running. Snowboarding because I've always wanted to do those tricks, and running just because I wonder how it feels to run and actually enjoy it haha.

How old is your LO? 4 months
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing. Occasional pumping. Going great!
4-8 mo How do nights look? This little one sleeps soooo much better than my first kid did. By about 7:30-8 he is ready for bed. Wakes up once, maybe twice a night, and then is up for the day around 7.
If you’ve returned to work, how is that transition going? I work one day a week in the office (and occasionally at home) and LO gets to come with me.
Questions/AW?
GTKY: if you could be an Olympic level athlete for a day, which sport would you choose? I always enjoy watching curling. Or snowboarding.

kaeguri glad you’ve got an appointment with an IBCLC! I’m a little confused as to your pedi’s recommendation to supplement because of reflux. Is LO on reflux meds? kellymom.com/hot-topics/reflux/“breastfed babies with reflux have been shown to have shorter and fewer reflux episodes and less severe reflux at night than formula-fed babies [Heacock 1992]. Breastfeeding is also best for babies with reflux because breastmilk leaves the stomach much faster [Ewer 1994] (so there’s less time for it to back up into the esophagus) and is probably less irritating when it does come back up.”

Breastfeeding is also best for babies with reflux because breastmilk leaves the stomach much faster [Ewer 1994] (so there’s less time for it to back up into the esophagus) and is probably less irritating when it does come back up.” Her thought process was that DD's reflux is caused by her drinking too fast and gulping too much air along with the milk, so mixing my breastmilk with formula to thicken it may slow down her drinking. But my thought process was that bottlefeeding usually has a much faster flow than the breast, right? So even if the milk is thicker, she's still getting a faster flow. She's not on any meds now. I was told to try upright nursing, and feeding DD in smaller, more frequent amounts to see if that helped first. But neither really helps, she still spits up if I nurse her upright or reclined with her tummy to tummy, and she nurses every 30 min to 1 hour sometimes because she keeps spitting it up. The LC I chatted with suggested that DD may still be gaining weight even though she's not keeping much down just through sheer determination on my part lol. I have no idea, my first didn't have any issues with reflux at all.

I have no idea, my first didn't have any issues with reflux at all. Spitting up and frequent nursing are typical newborn behavior. Pain from spitting up is not typical. Poor weight gain is not typical. Miserable baby most of the time is not typical. Projectile vomiting is not typical. Have you tried unlatching once letdown occurs, allowing the fast letdown flow to go into a towel or cup, then relatching once that initial gush subsides? Overactive letdown can cause reflux like symptoms too. Hope the IBCLC appointment is helpful! Way to go reaching out for support when you think something’s not right.

How old is your LO? 9.5 months old
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing. Going well! A baby sitter tried to give him a bottle the other and he was so not into it.
9-12mo What’s your favorite tip for dealing with a hungry yet distractible baby? I wear something that he can grab onto while nursing (like a bra strap or sweat shirt string). I also talk to him.
Questions/AW?
GTKY: if you could be an Olympic level athlete for a day, which sport would you choose? Ice skating.

How old is your LO? 7 weeks
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing. DS is still spitting up all the time, poor guy. I did start pumping here and there to build up my stash for when I go back to work.
0-3 mo Getting through growth spurts okay? Yes we are cruising right along.

How old is your LO? - 7 weeks
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? - nursing. Pumping every now and then with the manual pump. DS2 had an oz from a bottle the other night while I was doing bedtime with DS1.
0-3 mo Getting through growth spurts okay? - my higher producer side had so so much oversupply when we came out of the 6w spurt. Like waking me up MOTN in pain oversupply. I think I’ve managed it back down now.
GTKY: if you could be an Olympic level athlete for a day, which sport would you choose? - I also used this question for my BMB and I said gymnastics. But I think I’d also like a crazy winter sport like luge. I don’t know how it would feel to be that brave.

How old is your LO? -11mo on Thursday
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? -Nursing and pumping, going well.
9-12mo What’s your favorite tip for dealing with a hungry yet distractible baby? -We rock and turn on white noise. I talk to him and try to get some eye contact. It's rough lately.
Questions/AW? -AW: I did some calculations, and I will be done pumping at the end of August! I'll have enough milk to send to school until his first birthday and enough to mix with WCM for a while if he needs it.
GTKY: if you could be an Olympic level athlete for a day, which sport would you choose? -Snowboarding.

Any suggestions on how to get my boobs to even out ish in size? My over producer (and his favorite side) is easily a cup size bigger than the other. It only bothers me when I'm in a bathing suit. I stick him on the little boob first but he gets mad because the let down is slightly slower.
Also, he is teething again. I know because he nipped me. Grrrr.

Hi Everyone,
I have a question, my son is almost four months old and I have had a sudden extreme dip in supply. I nurse and pump, and I was getting about 5 ounces per pump (x3 at work) and it's down to about 3- 3.5 if I'm lucky.
I went on a girls overnight this past weekend and pumped as much and as often as I would feed but then come Monday my supply has tanked. I changed all of my pump parts but I'm at a loss as to what to do right now. Water and calorie intake are good. No sign of my period returning.
I haven't done anything different or changed anything but I'm really concerned. I had a huge dip when my daughter was about 7 months and managed to make it a year (plus 6 months of just nursing no longer pumping). I'm really worried I won't be able to keep up with his appetite for 8 more months... Help me, I'm stressing.

grumpycat, have you seen this page at kellymom? kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/lopsided/basically try to nurse on the smaller side to get the supply up. you could let him start on his preferred side to get a letdown, then switch him to the non-preferred side. have you tried one of those little gel chicken cutlet things in your bathing suit to make things look more even? mnniceish, did things bounce back for you? did you check through this list for possible causes? kellymom.com/hot-topics/pumping_decrease/i would've guessed your period or getting sick.

It did come back some, I'm getting about four ounces per pump at work now. Thank you for the link! Lots of good information.
