I really want to eat more vegetables. I'm intimidated by the green smoothie thing, but intrigued. ("Green" meaning spinach or some other kind of base.) I have been pinning various blends.
Can I use my regular blender? (I also have a Magic Bullet, but I'm guessing it's not up to it, because it kind of sucks.)
Favorite recipes?
How often do you make them/have to buy fresh produce?

Any time I make a smoothie it is a "green" one bc I add a ton of spinach. Yes, you can use a regular blender, but make sure to stop and stir it frequently to ensure the spinach gets fully blended. The worst thing is if you end up with spinach chunks. That's not yummy. My Vitamix has been life changing in terms of my smoothie game.
I recommend always using frozen fruit. It makes for a better smoothie texture IMO. I usually do, in this order in the blender: spinach, frozen fruit (usually one frozen banana plus strawberries, blueberries or some other fruit blend...just depends what I have on hand), greek yogurt or protein powder, almond milk or water. I throw in a few ice cubes too bc I like mine extra icy. Blend like crazy until nice and smooth.
I've just experimented with various concoctions and found what I like over the years. I usually need about 1-1.25c of liquid to make sure it's a good consistency.

I make smoothies every day. I have a Vitamix now, which I love, but used to have a Ninja blender, which worked well too.
Here is my standard recipe, which makes 2 big smoothies: -Water (2 cups) -Chia seeds, hemp hearts, and/or ground flaxseed (2 tbsps) -Leafy greens: spinach, kale, collard greens, or chard -Chopped apple (1/2) -Chopped zucchini or beet (about the same amount as the apple) -Frozen pineapple or mango (to add sweetness) -Frozen berries -Frozen broccoli

I buy produce about 2x per week. Once over the weekend, and I also have produce delivered on Wednesdays.

I used to make smoothies all the time. But now anytime my kids hear the blender they want my smoothies and it's so messy that I just don't make them. lol!
My go-to used to be 1 c kale, 1 c spinach, plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 chopped apple, sometimes 1/2 frozen banana and water or milk. I find that a little banana came make the difference in these green smoothies!

I make my smoothies right in here with an immersion blender. A cheap cuisinart that I think my H got for around 25 bucks. Very little clean up and I prefer it to a regular blender for that reason. Also I can move it up and down to get out clumps instead of opening a blender and stirring when it gets stuck. My favorite smoothie is 8 oz almond milk, half a banana, half a cup frozen mango, a few strawberries (frozen or fresh), and a scoop of unflavored grass fed whey protein. Then I fill it up to the brim with spinach which makes it very green. Possibly unpopular opinion but I love avocado but HATE it in smoothies. I have no idea why but it seems to taste bitter to me when blended. I honestly can’t taste the spinach at all.

@stcyct I have an immersion blender that I haven't used since baby food days! I always forget about it. Thanks!

For my gateway into green smoothie life I had to use frozen blueberries in every one because a handful of those will turn everything purple. If it turns brown just add a few more blueberries and it will turn purple!

I have another question... I am currently following the blogger who makes smoothies every day. But she always adds some nuts' milk. I also want to try making smoothie, but I'm wondering if it is possible to add 'ordinary' (cow) milk for the beginning? Is this combination of frozen berries / fruits / leafy greens with milk is ok?

It's definitely ok. Also, if you were looking to forgo the milk altogether and wanted a green smoothie, one I've been loving is a handful of frozen mango, one banana, a tbsp of chia seeds, a cup of light orange juice, and a huge handful of spinach. Delicious. You could also sub the mango for pineapple and plus or minus the chia.

Spinach, banana, orange juice. This is what I make every morning. Because I don't really like anything else. I use a small blender, one that I can take on the road. It's more convenient because there's glass right there.

Right now I am sipping on a green smoothie made from three pears, bunch of kale and about 5 mint leaves and water. I like it alot. Though I found out I am iron deficient so I need online pharmacy supplements
