Ugh, the 4th of July is upon us. All my drunken hick neighbors will be shooting off fireworks for weeks even though our houses are barely 20 feet apart. The people next door shot some directly over my yard this weekend and hit my windows and fence... followed by a drunk “woooooohoooo!!!!”
I am really hoping we are able to move before next years events.

PA just legalized aerial fireworks, although my neighbors have been using them for years because the cops don't care at all. Thank goodness DD isn't terrified of them like she was last year, but the random bangs and booms all damn week at 10pm are super obnoxious! Went to visit a friend who just had a baby and someone on her street set off a firework so loud it shook her living room at 4 freaking pm. What is the point of that???

Our law says you can shoot them off the night before, on the holiday, and the day after...I've been hearing the neighbors shoot fireworks around me since last Friday night...Super annoying. Thankfully my kid sleeps through them.

Dramaphile Maybe it’s because I grew up in a state where fireworks are illegal or maybe it’s because I’m old but I just don’t get the excitement over blowing stuff up in my backyard like these people do. My neighbors set them off year around and on any random day. They are the worst. I love being woken up at 11 pm on a random Thursday in October with a loud boom that shakes my house and wakes up my kids. Organized large displays of fireworks held in other locations are ok. I don’t have to worry about my house catching fire or picking up debris in my yard with those.

I don’t have to worry about my house catching fire or picking up debris in my yard with those. Same! I grew up in San Diego where non-professional fireworks are super illegal due to wildfire hazards and my dad would buy a few fountains while on road trips to other states and set them off on the 4th in the middle of the cul-de-sac where there was nothing flammable nearby, and even that was scandalous lol. People here are obsessed with having big, loud fireworks and I don't get it in the least. Last year, one neighbor was setting off huge aerial fireworks like 3 doors down, and we live literally next to a ton of power lines and that just doesn't seem like a good idea. Plus, my kid was terrified of them last year, so that didn't help. Luckily my dogs don't seem to mind them, it would be awful if they were scared. I like going to fireworks shows where professionals are in charge, anything more than small fireworks at home is a no for me.

We had our A/S scan today and baby is healthy and growing on track. Also, it’s another boy! I’m so glad I saved the clothes. In fact, when the tech told us it was a boy, the first thing I did was turn to my husband and tell him, “I told you I was right to save everything”. Lol. DS will be slightly disappointed that I’m not having baby Margaret Tiger though as he was convinced this was the case.

We saved everything from DS & now we're having the opposite sex during the opposite time of year lol Luckily sleepers and pants we had for DS should still be usable for DD. Oh and congrats on another healthy boy!!

I grew up in backwoods Louisiana and we had fun shooting off fireworks. But, we did it on my family’s 60 acres in the middle of nowhere, not a neighborhood. Now, I live in San Antonio and fireworks are illegal and my neighborhood doesn’t shoot them. Maybe I’m old and cranky, but I prefer it that way. Get off my lawn with your loud fire starters, lol.

Our 4th will be spent moving a couple of loads of stuff from our house to my mom's (moving in with her) before the movers arrive Thursday so we can cut down on cost. I still have a closet I need to clean out and some stuff under my bed I need to go through. I don't want to.

It’s funny how Pa. made fireworks legal but, also, nothing has changed. People have been shooting off illegal fireworks for.ev.er. So many friends would hop the border for the good stuff and come back. You just don’t feel so scandalous about it now. lol.
I went to Sam’s Club last night and, just from walking to the truck and loading the groceries, I wanted to die from the heat and humidity. I had such swamp butt that I had to change when I got home. SEXY.
Also, tomorrow will be the 4-year anniversary of DD being conceived! Haha. I remember being in labor and yelling, “No more July 4th shenanigans! EVER!”

Dr. Cox Congrats on the healthy little boy! I saved all of DD's clothes and such, but we have changed climates and the girls are opposite seasons. Bring on the newborn baby girl clothes shopping!

Of course it is going to be 99 degrees tomorrow. The festival/fireworks we are planning to go to is like 30 mins away and I’ve heard it takes over an hour to get out of the gridlock traffic after the fireworks show. Blah.
I am pretty sure DS won’t get to bed until nearly midnight if we go, and he has daycare & swim lessons the next day. But I feel like I need to take him because chances are much lower I’ll do so next year with a baby.

Gross, but..
Why does pregnancy have to have so much discharge? I’m over here slightly paranoid that it’s more than what it actually is. Rude.

Congrats on your little boy Dr. Cox! So my dogs have been acting out so much lately. They are 9 and 11 and have ruined two rugs and my mattress in the last three days on top of countless other accidents done in front of my face and when I’m not looking. That have never been this bad with my other pregnancies. Has anyone else had this happen and then the dogs go back to behaving? My H is about to send them to a rescue and I cannot stomach it due to their age so I’m hoping to hear any positive anecdotes. Also, fireworks can suck it. They are illegal here, but no one cares and it has already been a long week of celebrations.

summerrain I second the above question. Has it just been recently with the fireworks going off or long before this? Are their accidents due to nerves or can they be linked to diet? Would you be willing to take them to a vet and just check them over? My dogs are both jerks so they have continued to be jerks and I assume they will KOKO after baby is born. I honestly can’t count the amount of stuff they have torn up or eaten together... parts of our couch, baby toys, a plastic lawn chair, I can go on.

lolacachia and sarcaztic10 it has been going on for the past month, so not due to fireworks. They also just had their annual vet appointment last week and the vet said they were fine and most likely just acting out. He said to try walking them longer and I just don’t see how that will happen. They still get 2, 1.5 mile walks and a .5 mile walk everyday already (they are not a big breed) and I really can’t walk them much further with my kids. I’m just at a loss because this is the first time they have acted this way. It was mostly one dog, but now my other dog had one upped him and started peeing on beds. My daughters bed was thankfully fine, but my mattress pad failed and it soaked right through before I could get the comforter and sheets off.

Congrats on the baby boy, Dr. Cox! My A/S was today too. We confirmed that it’s a girl, which we already knew from the genetic testing in first tri. But, the ultrasound tech was telling us they saw someone last week whose genetic testing came back as a boy and the ultrasound showed it’s a girl! We lucked into the fact that this is our second girl and the seasons line up almost exactly - like their due dates are within 3 weeks. Glad we saved everything too! But, I may need to do some bonus baby clothes shopping, just for fun...

I’m sorry summerrain. I don’t have advice, but one of my dogs does that when he feels like he’s not getting enough attention. I hope you can get some answers.
