Does anyone make this from scratch? I was going to make some by juicing berries and adding the juice to freshly squeezed lemonade, but the recipes I'm seeing all call for cooking the berries in simple syrup. Do you think there's a benefit to cooking the berries or is it just to help them break down so you don't need to use a juicer?

Cooking them would concentrate the flavor and sweeten them and make it a bit more stable. It also breaks them down more obviously. But if you are just making a glass or pitcher for the day, I would just smash them and mix them in fresh.
