meggriffin I can’t really compare numbers because I’m in Canada so my numbers are in metric (fasting goal is 5.3 and less), but I do find that a bedtime snack helps with the numbers. I’m not always under the goal (it’s pretty aggressive) but so far my OB is happy. Yeah, I have no idea how those numbers compare. I was able to get the number right this morning. I had a handful of pistachios before bed.

meggriffin the snack should be about 15g carb (unless the dietician tells you otherwise) and also have protein, and IMO, fat. But for sure never have carbs without protein in general. There's a higher protein, lower sugar chocolate milk called Fairlife that's really popular. I buy our grocery store brand of that. A cup of that plus some low salt roasted almonds if I'm really hungry is what I usually do. It has the carbs, fat, and protein. A lot of people do ice cream at bedtime. A serving of many ice creams is less than 30g carb and also has protein and fat. It's more sugar though. Something between 15-mid 20s of grams of carbs works best I think. Also I've noticed my fasting numbers are higher if I've slept really poorly. Which is fabulous because pregnant sleeping is so easy to control. 🙄

Fasting is my issue too. You will want to test out different combos and see what works- everyone is different. Definitely pair carbs and protein, but try different ratios and combos. Last pregnancy, graham crackers with pb worked like magic, but spikes me now. I have had luck with a snickers ice cream bar paired with fairlife 2% milk or a cheese stick or fairlife, nilla wafers and cheese. 🤷♀️ the timing also seems to differ for people depending on the snack- try t sting at different spots within the 8-10 hours (or snack earlier/later)

So I failed my 1hr test with a 153 last week. I had eggs and toast with jelly for breakfast right before the test which looking back was definitely stupid of me. Anyone have any luck with asking to just have a redo on the 1 hr instead of going through the whole 3hr? Or should I just suck it up and get it over with?

Ugh that's a bummer killertofu. I can't imagine they'd let you redo the 1 hour though.

killertofu honestly what you had for breakfast is on my go to breakfasts now that I am on the GD diet. Except maybe you had white bread where I have whole grain or wheat.

Lol I figured that little bit couldn't have thrown it off too much I was just hoping to not have to sit in a waiting room for 3 hours if I could get out of it.

I don’t blame you, for the next one make sure you don’t have any heavy carbs the night before I was told that pizza and stuff like that can keep your sugars elevated for 24 hours. I don’t know how true that is but I would stay away from it just in case.

I'm sorry killertofu. Hopefully you'll pass the three hour and can be done with it!
