How old is your LO? 6 months tomorrow- where did the find go!
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing when at home, pumping while I’m at work.
4-8 mo Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF? He sure seems to be teething but nothing has popped yet- I wouldn’t be shocked if he has a tooth in the next few days/weeks. My first got one around 6.5 months. He clamps down occasionally and has since day one, so I’m hoping he cuts that out when teeth are involved!
Questions/AW? Not really, but I did forget how nasty their poop gets once solids are introduced lol.

How old is your LO? 2 months today!
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Mostly nursing but pumping some because I’m going to back to work tomorrow and because he’s sleeping a long stretch at night.
0-3 mo What positions/props are working for you? What are you struggling with? I do the cradle hold all the time. I feel like an ass for “complaining” about this but DS is sleeping a 4-5 hour first stretch. I feed him when he wakes up but I still have to pump because I’m so full. After all this, it’s usually around 4 am and I cannot fall back asleep for a long time. Any suggestions? If he starts sleeping through the night, will I still have to get up and pump every night or will it regulate? My first never slept that long until after we weaned so I never had this issue.

smilesp hope your first day back at work goes smoothly! Re: nighttime supply If you keep pumping as much at the same time MOTN, then yes you’ll keep needing to. If you scale back the pumping your supply should adjust accordingly until you don’t have to pump. That said, the transition to work may change LO’s sleeping & feeding patterns anyway.

How old is your LO? 8mo
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing and pumping. Supply has been a little low since having mastitis last week. I'm struggling with that mentally.
Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF? Two teeth. Hasn't affected us much except he likes to bite to signal he's finished.
Questions/AW? I guess just the above re: supply. I don't want to overdo it with herbs while I'm trying to flush out the rest of the infection, but I also don't want to have to give him more formula at school. Thoughts?

How old is your LO? 5 months on Thursday
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing when at home, pumping while I’m at work.
4-8 mo Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF? Not yet. DS1 got his first tooth at almost 9 months so I'm not expecting any yet.
Questions/AW? I'm having trouble getting him to accept my dud boob even at night. So now righty is huge and lefty well isn't. It really isn't a problem except cosmetically for me but I hate it. I do pump both sides of course and usually get only an ounce or 2 from the left. If I have time I even pump extra in the left. Other suggestions?

I was able to get her to latch to dud boob sometimes after she finished good boob. If I tried to start with dud boob when she was really hungry, she would get super angry and then all would go to hell. I did eventually quit even offering dud boob (I think around 8-9 months) because it just wasn’t worth the battle anymore to me. She made it on one boob until 14 months. I never noticed a huge aesthetic difference but have larger boobs anyways.

How old is your LO? 9 months next week. Eek!
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Nursing only. I WFH PT so I'm always around lol. It's going well. I had day-weaned DS1 by this point, or, he weaned himself because he didn't want to sit still to nurse, so it's kind of nice that this kid is still a boob monger. Although I'm slightly nervous for actually weaning him when the time comes.
4-8 mo Any teeth or signs of teething? Is it affecting BF? No teeth yet. DS1 cut his first tooth at 9 months on the nose so we'll see what this one does. His bottom incisors are rightthere and have been for some time though.
9-12mo What’s your favorite tip for dealing with a hungry yet distractible baby? I'll answer this too since we're so close! This kid will definitely want to stop eating if H or DS1 are around so if anyone's home I need to just take him up to his room and close the door. Then he's fine to nurse for a bit. It's been s while since I've had to NIP so....I don't know what that would look like now. He'd have to be super hungry on which case he'd probably be good at ignoring other people to eat.

Oh you know what, I will AW DS. He slept last night from 7:30 until 4:30 which was fucking aaawwwwesome. Then he nursed and slept til a little after 7.
Of course though DS1 woke up at 2 with (I'm aasuming) growing pains in his leg. H got him Tylenol and an ice pack but he wanted to lay in our bed so....yea. I ended up carrying him back to his room at like 3.
I feel like I can't.get.a.break with sleep.

gingy hope the mastitis is gone & your supply has already recovered. You could add a pump session or do some power pumping (20min pump, 10min rest, 10min pump, 10min rest, 10min pump is a common pattern). Also my son was a bite to be done nursling. I kept my pinky finger near the corner of his mouth & when his suckling slowed I’d break the latch and say/sign “all done.” Sucked to have to pay that much attention sometimes but it broke the habit pretty quickly. flippinchica when there’s a big flow difference, some babies do have a marked preference. You can try nursing through letdown and then switching to the dud- that way LO isn’t starving but also not full & letdown has been triggered both sides (most likely). Breast compressions on the lower flow side can help get the milk flowing to hold his interest. But in the end most women can nurse from only one breast as westiemom pointed out. thechickencoop FX for continued great sleep from baby & better sleep from your big kid.

Thanks lily. My supply seems to be on the way back up. I was considering some power pumping, so I might try that tonight before bed. I've been doing a normal pump session then anyway to help build my stash back up.

Power pumping is like cluster feeding- maybe not a lot more output the first time you do it, but after a day or two supply ramps up.

I started antibiotics for mastitis Wednesday and have noticed way less output when I pumped yesterday and today. I’m hoping once it resolves and I’m off the antibiotics it will start to go back up?

It was around a week. It's still not back to 100% yet at 10 days out. I've been drinking all the tea and eating all the oatmeal and lactation muffins to try to get it back to normal.

I think some of my supply issues are also stress related. Work is nuts right now. And having the hit to my supply is stressful in itself. I tried to spend some quiet time last night de-stressing in hopes of a mental reset.

How old is your LO? 3 w 2d
Are you nursing, pumping, supplementing? How’s it going? Ebf. It's going pretty well.
0-3 mo What positions/props are working for you? What are you struggling with? Whatever works at the time. I've been doing a lot of reclined/straddle position to help with gas issues. She's a lazy latcher. We probably have to relatch at least 3x every session. I can hear her swallowing air when it's wrong which leads to awful gas and screaming
Questions/AW? Trying to figure out if her gas is all from swallowing air/not burping or if there might be a food intolerance. So I'll take advice on that. It's better than it was a week ago but still happens a lot.

jessila bloody mucusy stools are a classic sign of food intolerance. Anything like that you’ve noticed?

Have you asked your pedi about a probiotic? Sometimes that helps. It’s a rough road as their little newborn bodies figure out what to do with gas. “Symptoms of food hypersensitivity, intolerance, or allergy include: -skin problems, such as eczema, dermatitis, hives, rash, dry skin -gastrointestinal problems, such as vomiting, diarrhea, blood or mucus in stools -respiratory problems, such as congestion, runny nose, wheezing, coughing -crying during or after feedings (also a symptom of overabundant milk production and reflux disease) -difficulty going to sleep and staying asleep” Nancy Mohrbacher, Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple, c2010, p518

gustierx, how have you been doing with supply? Mine's gone back up a little more, but still not where it was. DS might also be to the point that it's just time to drop a pumping session, so it may not all be the mastitis shenanigans.
