Thank goodness for the swing working some kind of magic on the baby. My toddler has been fighting naps and I never broke the habit of laying down with him till he falls asleep. It took me over half an hour to get him down today, but somehow the baby slept the whole time. I wish I could break this habit, since I know I’m going to be in huge trouble when the baby isn’t as sleepy during the day.
Thursday is my toddler’s third birthday, and his first day of the special ed preschool program. I’m excited for him, and emotional too.

ArielMermaid Could your H help with one of the baths? We’ve been doing bathnight for both kids the same night. I bath one while my H does the other. He usually chooses DD because she can mostly wash herself, he just needs to supervise and wash her hair.

So yes, I put my foot down to make him help 😂

I’m sorry mintyblueair. Hoping it heals better and easy. ArielMermaid is there any chance baby could shower with your H? We did that with DS1 and they both loved it. It was H’s time to bond and one less baby thing I had to do. We just wrapped him in a Muslin for “grip”. I tried bathing the toddler and baby together. Nope. No good. I should try that. I’ve never thought of it. Thanks!

I'm sorry mintyblueair, that really sucks. I hope the surgery isn't too bad!

Also, if anyone could tell me how to have these waves on a daily basis I'd really appreciate it. I'm hair inept. Love the color!! When I want to do my hair (like once every six months) I use a tapered curling wand (no clip). That gives my hair really good waves. You can also control the type of curl by how you twirl your hair on the wand (tighter curls vs beach waves). I learned a lot from YouTube videos!

mintyblueair, I’m so sorry, that sucks. I hope it’s a quick and easy fix. I haven’t decided if it’s worse to do baths on the same night or alternate kids. We have decided it’s easier to give the baby a bath when DS1 is either on a nap or down for the night because he loves to “help” (spoiler: he doesn’t help). I love that he loves his brother...but sometimes it makes things so much more difficult.

Lol we do bath every night for the toddler - we wash hair every couple of days but it’s so hot and there’s so much pollen we really need to. The biggest benefit is that she eats a popsicle in there and it kills 20-30 minutes of her witching hour. We have a ton of toys in there and she’s pretty content to play by herself thank goodness.
Every few days I get in the shower with DD2 and just soap her up and rinse quickly before DD takes her.

I had my 6 week check up yesterday and found out my stitches (there were only 2) didn't heal properly. I had taken a look down there before my appointment and thought things looked off. My doctor said I need surgery to fix it so I had a good cry about that. I will be distraught if it doesn't get back to normal 😣 Also, the doctor who will do the surgery is a friend of my dad, so that's awkward. My dad is a retired doctor but he assists this guy in the OR every week so now I have to be like, please don't work that day dad! Oh my gosh no kidding! Take a break that day Dad. I’m sorry the stitches didn’t heal right. Hopefully surgery won’t be too terrible ❤️

Same dizzycooksMy bigs get three showers or so... Sunday Monday Wednesday...the baby? Every 10 days and in the morning... Anyone else have a baby who doesn’t poop but once a week? Alina is BF and was pooping every feed - around the end of week 2, she went to a couple of times a day, then she’s going once a week or so now. She’s a month old tomorrow. Her gas STINKS. She also has reflux - so getting meds for that tomorrow at her well visit. But the poop concerns me. I even took her temp to try and get things moving - it didn’t work.

auri, my lower back feels weird too. Like really sore and very weak. I’m sure it’s because my core is like jelly. I hope the stretches work. Also, is anyone else having pains in their uterus? Mine is often a dull ache but in a localized spot. It got a bit sharper today but it’s so odd

My midwife thought it might have been my cervix opening to try and get everything out. Did you ever get your ultrasound results?

But I also had bleeding again the last few days so maybe I better call

yianna Re: poop. That’s not an issue here, but I have heard that bf babies sometimes poop very little and can go up to 10 days between bm. I wouldn’t be concerned as long as she continues to have wet diapers.

Is this where I admit I bathe the baby once a week and the big kids twice a week? 🤦♀️ I'm on this team. Older kiddo (3.5 years old) showers 2-3 times a week and shampoos once a week, mostly supervised by her dad. I've been bathing baby during the day when he is the calmest once a week. I do wipe his face, neck and hands with a washcloth daily, if not more often now with the spit up.

Is this where I admit I bathe the baby once a week and the big kids twice a week? 🤦♀️ Same. DD1 is afraid of the shower and the bath gives her a bad diaper rash so we do once or twice a week for her butt’s sake.

L has pooped max 3 times a day even as a new newborn. Around 3-4 weeks, he spaced out to every 2-3 days and now every 4-5 days, although we just had our longest stretch (6 days). His gas is pretty stinky too, especially after it’s been a few days. Pedi said it’s fine to go days in between, but to call if it’s more than 7, if he seems uncomfortable, or if his belly is distended/tender. It doesn’t seem to bother him at all.

yianna my first was like that. at one point, when she was around 2 months, she went almost 2 weeks without pooping. i was stressed but she didn’t seem uncomfortable so🤷♀️ i had even tried giving her diluted gerber apple juice per pedis advice and nothing. re: baths. we give dd1 one every night. it’s been almost 2 weeks for the baby, but i shoot for weekly. i figure as long as we keep diaper area clean she’s good? she does seem to like it way more then her sister ever did. i can’t wait until we can do the 2 together.

Well. Today is my last day of maternity leave. I was doing fine up until last night when I just bawled rocking L to sleep. I’m trying to enjoy today as much as I can, but I am so sad. I’m having all these guilty feelings like he’s going to be upset that I’m leaving him for so long and I’m still really worried about bottle feeding because it’s going terribly.

just got home from daycare drop off. had to drag her out of the house screaming that she didn’t want to go to school today. dd2 just had a blow out in the rnp. really trying to not finish the leftover piece of chocolate cake in the fridge right now. i think she is finally feeling better though - those probiotic drops worked like magic! we had an appointment with the pedi yesterday for feeding issues - i was so stressed about her nursing strike. i never had issues with dd1. everything seems to be going better and it was really reassuring to find out how much she gets from me when she feeds. i need to catch up on house stuff and get some groceries today.

clementine enjoy all the baby snuggles today. I bawled all the way to work and at work the 1st day with DS1. People understood and gave me grace. The worry is the worst. As we found our groove over the week it got easier, but there are always tough days. I go back to work in 13 days. I know I will be sad again, but I know it will all work out. I will be thinking of you tomorrow.

polson I hate the days DS1 decides he doesn’t want to go to daycare and I have to take him screaming. I saw the HDBD post and was really confused because I thought today was Tuesday. My sense of days and time is all screwed up.
