L is currently shoveling puffs into her mouth because I'm too lazy to dig out a pouch and cut up fruit for breakfast. She's gotten really good and actually getting some of them into her mouth. She seemed so uncoordinated with this yesterday, but today she's got a bunch actually in her mouth. I guess she takes after me; I have zero issues putting food in my mouth.
No big plans today. Our deck should be finished by the end of the day. H works till noon. It's supposed to be almost 90 today so some type of water play will be involved.
Happy Saturday!

Seems like everyone is getting a new deck/patio this year! Now I want one... Do you have a water table tjanca22? My big one loves splashing around in ours! I'm getting DD down for a nap now and need to work on getting our house presentable. DS's bday party is next weekend and we have a lot of projects/reorganizing/cleaning to get done before that. But it's suppose to be nice so we will probably go out back to our park at some point. Eta: I had to add numbers to the tag. I just assumed everyone dropped their numbers! Lol

Yes! Our water table could be an all day long activity for DS hangry. We have a kiddie pool too, I just need to decide if I want to blow it up or not. Apparently I'm lacking motivation to do much today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I leave tonight. I really don't want to. It's been nice having help with the kids, even though H has been sick. He threw up last night while I was at dinner.

sophiegrace How's your past night or two been? Any improvement from M with MOTN? We had a decent night last night and I immediately thought of you and have everything crossed thinking maybe M gave you a good one too?!???? tjanca22 It's supposed to be really warm here too! What kind of water play (if any) do you let L get involved in? I've been trying to think of ways to get the babies involved bc they love bath time so much and I want them to have good water relationships.

For tgrimes and the others of us that have kids in daycare, as you know I'm going to have to either go back to the office FT shortly or give up my job. I'm curious to others input regarding daycare, if you had/have the option of an in home nanny instead at the same cost would you do it? If no, why not? Regarding the babies getting sick, do you attribute it to daycare or just kids being kids? Throw it all at me, I'm weighing my options of daycare v nanny v giving up my job.

kleigh dd isn't in daycare yet but DS is. I don't think it matters much at the babies age now but I think there definitely comes a time when daycare benefits them more than staying home with a nanny. They learn organized activities, listening to other adults, playing with and respecting peers, standing in lines, cleaning up, they get exposed to more germs, learn to sleep in other environments than their own crib, I could go on and on. Right now, it might be easier to have them home because you won't have to pack them up every day and they will get sick less often. Just a few thoughts that came to mind.

kleigh You're probably going to get a variety of answers here. There's pros & cons to both sides. I personally LOVE our daycare. If given the option for a full time nanny now, I wouldn't do it (unless they also cleaned & cooked, which some do!). M loves the other kids and the socialization. They also teach her way more than I ever could. Not everyone has an awesome daycare though. H's last daycare was not that great. So if my option was that daycare or a nanny, I'd choose a nanny. Cons to daycare, they get sick a lot. Cons to a nanny, if they get sick or want a vacation, you may not have a back up. Pros to a nanny, you don't have to worry about too much illness or getting the kids up & ready to go before you go to work. Also if one of the kids gets sick, you don't have to take off work, unless it's too bad.

kleigh B goes to daycare full time and J will go Nov 1. I prefer it because I don't want my house a mess everyday, using the utilities etc. I also would HATE to be on another persons schedule for vacation, sick days etc, with a daycare they worry about the ratios in the rooms and move around employees. I also like that the kids are learning to listen to other adults other than myself, that there are activities planned, crafts etc. I could go on and on. As far as sickness, I honestly dont think it's better or worse, as soon as kids start interacting with each other, it begins. All you can do is your best to try and keep them healthy so if they do get sick they fight it quickly. Give a daily vitamin, wash hands, and we do a full change of clothes as soon as we get home everyday and throw the clothes in the wash. Also, on a very selfish note, I like that if i want to take a personal day i can drop them off at daycare and either get shit done around the house, or just be in my home and relax, and with in home care that's impossible.

Oooh, good one vino. I agree. If I want a personal day or if i'm sick, it's nice to be able to take them to daycare.

No experience with daycare, but I will echo what other posters said...as soon as they start interacting with other kids, they WILL get sick. B had a runny nose/cold for literally the first half of the school year last fall when he first started preschool. It's gross and I hated it, but it's life. This year was a lot better, though, and I think each year will get better the more they're exposed/build immunity to various ick.

kleigh, I scrounged up the motivation and put up the kiddie pool, so I'll let L sit in that. Either I'll sit in there with her, or plop her in and hold her over the edge. If your worried about them being in the water, try a water blob, they are tons of fun without having to worry about them being actually in the water. You can either DIY one or just buy one. I got a really cheap one from Walmart last summer and E loved it because he couldn't quite walk yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I had the choice now for the same price and same hours, I might pick daycare. Believe it or not we are paying less right now for a nanny who gives us way more hours than daycare. To me that's the biggest drawback to daycare: the limited hours. Idk how many hours you work kleigh so maybe this wouldn't be a problem for you, but it definitely was for H and me. I loved our daycare; it was small, DS was so loved there, and the socialization was awesome for him. He got sick once in a while but not a ton; maybe we were lucky. I also love our nanny but you guys know the issues we've had there. If she is sick or goes away we have trouble finding backup.

Both E and L go to daycare and we love ours! E spent the first year at a in-home sitter (their home, not ours) and I almost wish we would have gone straight to daycare from the start. Live and learn. PP have given really good pros and cons, so I'll just add this kleigh, there are different types of daycares. Some are more focused on a Montessori setting, some are large, some are small. Just do your research and take tours and ask questions. We toured a few places before settling on ours. Not all places are the same, so find one that you will love now and love as the kids get older. Ours doesn't allow more than 16 kids between both rooms. They want to keep the small environment for the kids and they only have 2 rooms (6w-2yo and 2-5yr). We were able to negotiate price with them and only pay for days we send them. Not every place operates like that, but that's why we chose the place we did. Wow, that was way longer than I meant for it to be. Basically do your research and find one that works best for your family!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I totally agree with tjanca22 visit a lot of them and you'll find a good fit. I toured 4-6 for B in 2013 and I just went through it again, they are moving daycares Nov 1, and I toured another 3-4 before I picked their new one.

kleigh We're lucky to have both of our moms home right now to take care of C but I always planned to put him in daycare part time once he's old enough to socialize with other kids and for the learning aspect. I think it'll be around the time #2 comes so that would also help take some pressure off our moms. tjanca22 Those water blobs are so cool! I've never seen the huge ones!

Hi all.
Rough morning for me. My stomache has been off all morning. Not sure if I ate something that didn't agree with me or what. I sucked it up and we went to our towns farmer market and the grocery store. It's gorgeous out so I'm hoping to get the kids outside this afternoon. I'm also thinking water table and plastic pool.
Hoping I feel better later. We have lots of alcohol calling my name and I would like to enjoy part of this weekend!

Bummer waitwhat, hope you start feeling better and can enjoy your weekend! Hi! We've had a lazy morning; DH just took B up to the pool for a bit so C and I are hanging out. There's some laundry to fold and I should probably tidy up, but right now I'm enjoying just sitting here farting around on the internet and watching Fixer Upper re-runs.

kleigh I honestly don't know. Since with twins they get some socialization just being together. Nannies do make the parents life a lot easier in terms of getting out the door..you just have to get yourself out the door. Granted your house has to be acceptable and you probably can't work from home. I do like daycare for 1 year plus. Also would want a nanny that went to story hour, classes etc. And yes, sickness X2 will totally suck. N had had 2 ear infections, HFM, and several colds since March... The receptionist at the pediatrician recognizes my voice when I call.
