Has anyone put hooks in their front hall closet for kids to hang jackets and hats on? I cleaned out the closet when we painted and now I'm thinking I want to add small shelving on one side (depending on measurements) or a shoe rack, and three or four hooks for jackets, hats and back packs. Basically I'm tired of the kids handing me jackets to hang up and we don't have room for hooks outside the closet. So shelving like this: Hooks similar to this, not sure on the baskets on the back of the wall and the side: What does everyone else do? Have you tried hooks? How did it work?

We have a low coat rack like this: on the wall below our stairs. I'm still mostly the one who hangs up her stuff, but that's more my issue than hers. I love having a separate place for the kids coats.

We have a ton of hooks in our house.
Each kid has a designated backpack hook in their room, plus 3 jacket hooks behind their door.
In the garage, we have hooks (same one maple posted) where they can hang wet towels after the pool, wet rain coats, etc.
In their bathroom, they have hooks to hang their bath towels on since they can't reach the towel bar.
We are all about the girls being self sufficient.

Our hall closet that is for hanging jackets is actually at the far end of the hallway that leads to the master and guest bedrooms, so not anywhere near the front door. It is also crammed full of jackets and coveralls, with sleeping bags and tents crammed in above and below them, so we don't have room for hooks or shelves. Our front entry is really narrow so I put a thing with hooks on the wall there to hang jackets and things. We also have another one next to the back door in the laundry room. We use the front one for nicer jackets that we wear out of the house, and the back one for barn clothes. My girls each have a similar hook thing in their closet though, so I could see it working well. One of my cousins has a old fashioned coat tree thing and added extra hooks lower down so that her kids could use them.

I would put hooks at Nugget's level, but then she would want to wear her coat all day, even when it's hot... Maybe when she's bigger.
