1. How far are you now? 25+4
2. Symptom check: Same as always plus so much heart burn!
3. What and when is your next appointment? Monday is a placenta a check and growth scan.
4. Anything you’d like to share with the group? I ended up having my scan last week despite the snow. Baby Girl looks perfect, but my placenta is a jerk. Apparently I have complete placenta previa and between that and other risk factors including an anterior placenta and prior c-section, they are concerned about possible placenta accreta. I have a scan at the hospital Monday to evaluate my placenta further. I’m trying not to panic right now, but it’s scary.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this, too!

birch113, I really hope you don't have an accreta. Are they doing an ultrasound on Monday or a MRI? It definitely scares me as well but after reading a lot of research studies (because apparently that's what I do when I'm worried) and talking with my MFM (whose specialty is accreta and is involved in several research studies around them), I feel better. From what I've gathered (and you might know all of this already), outcomes are much better when it's known in advance, outcomes are also good with a planned hysterectomy (unfortunately), and the 7% mortality rate is based off of older research and the newer data shows a much lower rate. It still scares me but I'd rather they over plan for it and not need any of that preparation.

It still scares me but I'd rather they over plan for it and not need any of that preparation. I have an ultrasound Monday with a MFM at the hospital. I’m similar when it comes to researching to (hopefully) ease my panic. I did read a few newer pieces of literature that essentially hinted at the 7% maternal mortality including unknown cases and not separating out those with nearly immediate access to their hospital vs those in rural areas much further away in the event of a bleed. It is good to hear confirmation about the 7% being an older stat, though. It also sounds like once the proper interdisciplinary team is in place, issues are far more manageable, which is comforting. Does your MFM prefer MRI to u/s for diagnosis? I’ve read recommendations for each and am not sure if I should push for MRI.
