I am doing a clutter challenge. Anyone can join or not. I posted about doing one after the holidays and some people appeared to have interest. So anyway...
Day 1 - Kitchen counters. Cleaning away the visual clutter just makes you feel better and more in control. Let's see your before and afters if you care to share.

I really need to do this one. My counter are out of control again. But I'm not sure if I can help it with baby bottles. I may need to come up with a better system.

The pipe to our sink froze and ruptured while we were traveling for the holidays and the counters have been full of tools, gifts, etc. I had an old food processor waiting to be donated so I filled a box from the cabinets too. We don’t keep a ton on the counters but the Keurig, blender, and Instantpot stay.

I can't show pictures, because I'm too embarrassed by the before. I may show the after.
However, I need to reorganize the pantry cupboards so that I can fit some misc items in a better spot first.
And I want to pull out everything under the sink and reorganize to fit a few things down there.

Day 2 - Containers!!!!
It's time to let go of the old butter dishes and Tupperware with missing lids. Go through your food storage containers and get rid of the old broken and missing items. Organize what you have left. Pics if you want to.

Easy! 90% of our stuff was missing its match and therefore never used, so I got rid of it. I don’t know where everything went. I used to have a good sized set of lock & lock containers plus various glad ware for kid lunches and it’s just gone. Now I have mostly just the glass containers that I like better than plastic, a cute little bento box, and a couple of tiny plastic ones for dressings and other toppings. All the stuff and before/after of the drawer where they’re stored.

Day 3 - Kitchen junk drawer - you know the drawer that's packed with all the stuff that just happens to find it's way to the kitchen and never leaves? Clean it out! Throw away the stuff you are no longer using. Take items to the rooms they actually belong in.

I'm following along. I'll finally be home Monday after too damn long and I'm ready to basically burn it all down and start over.

So far I’ve done all 3 days. The kitchen is looking so much better already!
That junk drawer was something! At least it’s tackled now.

The drawer wasn’t too bad to begin with but I cleaned it out and wiped it down.

Day 4 - Freezer Day
Clean out your freezer. If it's freezer burnt toss it. Mystery, toss it. Old as hell, toss it.

Completed day 4! And I used the opportunity to meal plan for next week with what I had frozen already and given that I have conferences 3 straight nights it’s a total win! Freezer is clean, organized and I’m making fresh ice.
Thank you for posting these each day. It’s so much more manageable for me this way.

I'm a day behind. And my counters look horrible again.
I need to stop having my husband cook at night.

I didn't realize that this was happening!
It just so happens that I did the freezers last week. We bought a quarter of a cow a few months ago, and all of the cuts of meat have been buried in the chest freezer under the ground beef and other frozen food. It feels like I went on a huge shopping trip because I can get to the steak and roasts now.

Day 5 - Whatever you consider your pantry. You don't have to have all cute containers and awesome organizing ideas. Start by getting rid of expired items and grouping like items. Post before and after pics if you feel inclined.

I need to learn the organization tricks of everyone who claims bottom drawer freezers are so easy to keep neat. We don’t eat meat so most of our stuff in there isn’t big and it all gets lost. On the plus side I prepped individual just add liquid smoothie servings which I’ve been meaning to do forever and pulled a couple things to prep for lunches this week. I need to figure out what to do with the 2 lbs of pepitas I unearthed. Before: After:

Pantry is finished! It’s certainly not cute, but I inventoried and reorganized. I have everything I need for a birthday cake I need to make next week too!
The snow days we’ve had have given me the extra time and it’s really helped. I’m back to school tomorrow but I’m hoping my momentum continues! My house appreciates this challenge!

Thank you for posting these!
I threw away all the leftover Christmas goodies and candy that was sitting on my counter, without guilt, a few days ago. I just cleaned out the freezer and pantry. Neither was terrible, but I still filled 1/2 a garbage bag.

I did my pantry last week, but I tackled the spice/baking cabinet last night. We had some spices that expired before my 4yo was born...

I was thinking about spices after someone in the "disposable stuff" thread mentioned bulk spices in glass jars. We only have one store that offers that, but if it would A) reduce waste and B) be greener, it would be worth going out of my way.

Day 6 - Utensils
Time to clean out those drawers. Do you need 10 spatulas? No. Do you need five slotted spoons? Do you have things you haven't used in years? Time to get rid of what you don't need.

Utensils are done! I took out everything and wiped out the drawers and only put back those we needed. I now have a small stash of reusable utensils for DS to use with his lunches and they’re organized so we can find them.
I have a small bag of stuff to take to school. They’ll love playing with the extra spatulas and plastic stuff I took out.

I’m ready to move on from the kitchen.
I really like how manageable these have been. Much more doable and I see results right away. I think it’ll be much easier to maintain this way too.

Day 7 - Fridge
Toss out the old shit. Check the dates. Reorganize. Use trays, liners, or other cute things if you choose to. Wipe that bitch down.
Pics if you choose.

Fridge is now done! Thank you snow day!
I’m loving how my kitchen looks! Trying to decide if I’m brave enough to post pics. My kitchen is pretty outdated...
