Can I take Sudafed? I'm 11 weeks pregnant.
My RE said no - they specifically said psuedoephedrine and phenylephidrine were not allowed. My OB, however, says I can take psuedoephedrine but not phenylephidrine. I'm super congested and Sudafed would make me feel a lot better, so I'm tempted. My husband says the doctor says it's fine so I should just take it, why am I even still nervous. But why was my RE so against it? I'm not a patient there anymore so I don't feel comfortable calling my RE on a weekend to ask for their reasoning, plus maybe it depends on how far along you are?
What do your OBs have to say about it?
Thanks!!

Hot (but not too hot) showers and Little Remedies saline spray helped. Little Remedies is for kids, but there are no additives.

birch113 Thanks! A hot shower did help, but I'm still pretty miserable. Sounds like Sudafed isn't too bad (otherwise how could my OB have it on the "safe" list??) but maybe it's better to wait as late as possible. Once I'm out of first tri I'll feel a lot better about all this stuff.

Hi, late, but present. Your OB is the expert at keeping you pregnant, so I would defer to the OB over RE when it comes to tetrogenic effects of medication and what is safe. FWIW, I had a nasty sinus cold in first tri. I used Afrin (a nasal spray) and that shit cleared my congestion fast. Just don’t use it for more than 3 days (or sumshit). Hopefully this is totally pointless and you’re feeling back to normal again!

ketchup thanks! Believe it or not I'm still congested! Although I think (hope!) I'm just starting to get better. Today is the first day since last week that I could breathe enough to taste my food. I didn't even think of Afrin; I will definitely have to keep that in mind!
