Our doc said a few months to make she he's completely trained since it can relapse easily.

Hi all, yesterday we hung out in the morning and then went to my mom's and helped get her tree up and then went to a boat parade of lights. It snowed and it was so pretty! J had a ball and I'm hoping there's enough snow left today to take him sledding, since we didn't get much last year.
My mom made lentil soup, but apparently it was a bit undercooked? I felt miserable when we got home and eventually puked. I'm feeling okay now, but oof. Apparently it can be like food poisoning if not cooked long enough..the things you find out after the fact.

I’m assuming as long as she’s been vomit free we’ll slowly reduce the dosage. I’m glad it has been working for J!

We went to a party with a white elephant yesterday and MH's cousin gave C the little drone he got in the exchange. C is looooving it. He wants to invite everyone over to show it off.

I'm up by myself, drinking hot coffee and stressing about everything that needs done today. If I make a list, which I'm doing next, it makes me feel better.
I have turned into my mom and grandma with the damn list making.
I met my mom at Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday and picked out new dishes she's getting me for Christmas. I'm really excited to get them. I can't believe I'm excited about dishes...this is being an adult, huh?

Lentil soup is so good! I had no idea they were dangerous if undercooked. Thanks for the tips, @ tallb

I'm annoyed at SD this weekend and I need to vent here. Since her mom started letting her pack for weekends when she was 9 it has been an issue that she doesn't pack appropriately. This weekend she didn't bring socks and justv intended to wear the same pair all weekend. Her mom told her to bring a coat incase she broke down on the 3hr drive. It has been around 25 with flurries all weekend. Turns out she brought a thin jacket, no hat, no gloves, no long sleeves. Then yesterday her and E got pjs and socks for "pj day". She didn't even take them out of the package. She claims the 4 times we talked about it she doesn't remember. She spent the whole day texting her mom about random stuff instead of being present here. I want to say "teens" but it has always been this way. The thing that bothers me most this time of year and with this crap is that MH doesn't contribute to the finding of gifts for her or teaching her to be responsible. So I sirens lots of time to include her in our family and she spends the time texting her mom. And I get to be the B that tells her she needs to be more responsible and dress appropriately.

I know nothing about drones, but it's this one: m.bedbathandbeyond.com/m/product/atom-1-0-remote-control-micro-drone/3277585It only lasts like 5min once charged though. Takes about 30 min to charge.

Cinnamon rolls, hot chocolate coffee and a lazy morning on the couch while MH works. Just how I like it, minus MH working. We have no plans today other than to fix the tree lights (I plugged too many strands in together and they won't work now, oops) and do laundry.

Thanks! That is a left gift from SD to E, especially at that price. Also a nice idea for secret Santa gifts for any age.

I was up til 11:30 making cards on walgreen.com. I submitted my order for pick up this morning. One of the things I lay in bed stressing is my card list making sure I get everyone.
I didn't order enough, I just had to submit another order for 20 more.

Sunny41 kids your SDs age are hard, even harder when you're the step parent. I never treated my step parents with much respect til I was 18. So you can try all you want, but it likely won't make a difference. Not saying to give up, keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure she's noticing, but she's at the age where kids are just ungrateful shits.

Morning! S was a nightmare at bedtime last night and took an hour and a half to go to sleep. It was 9:45 before she finally crashed and I was sooo tired so I went to bed as soon as she was out. Usually when she goes to sleep late, she wakes up earlier. So I was dreading a 5am wake up. But she is still in bed at almost 8! It’s a Christmas miracle. Tonight she’s getting a little sleep helper (melatonin).
Today we will probably go see Santa in town. But other than that, low key day here.

Just finished french toast and coffee with eggnog in it, and delaying cleaning up the kids. Our only plans are grocery shopping and playing outside in the snow. I'm tired, DH is probably more so, and the kids are hyper. It's going to be one of those days!! LOL.

Morning!
B seems to be feeling back to his old self and the sun is out for the first time in a week, so hopefully we can get out today.
I got some wrapping done yesterday but need to sit down and make a list of everything I have ordered/am waiting on and see if there are any holes.

Agree with this, and some kids unfortunately will only learn when they experience the consequences of their actions. You can tell her (or a lot of kids) to bring a jacket, dress warm, whatever, but she probably won’t actually heed the advice until she finds herself unprepared and freezing. Also, WRT the cell phone and texting, I think that is largely the age, and why we plan to hold off on the personal electronics for as long as possible, and set major boundaries with them. I’ve seen it in our extended family (teen cousins). Maybe y’all can ALL put the phones away for some activities next time she’s with y’all—don’t single her out or anything, just make it a thing that everyone is doing. Just a thought.

I've told myself for years that when she is 30 she will look back and realize what I did for her. I think the same can be said about non step kids too. MH gets to be the aloof parent while I do the hard work and get unrecognized but that's not why we do it.

I don't know if the surge will be a good kick start after the baby or if it will be too much and I should do 5.0 over again first then do the surge. Let me know how it goes.

Cher, are you doing a lot of renovations before moving into the new house? I would like to but we only have 4 weeks between close and move-in and it’s over the holidays, oh and I’m out of money. So we’re doing a ton of painting/molding/wallpaper, 2 bathrooms and a closet.
