Baby Sparky was born this morning at around 1 am - 30w1d weighing 3lbs 3oz. We were team green, and are now team pink

I was PPROM since about 27w and had a marginal placental abruption. There is a belief that the contractions were partly the result of an irritated uterus due to all of the bleeding from the placenta.

It was a crazy few days of contractions that started Saturday, but had stopped Sunday morning (likely due to the magnesium sulfate). They came back on Sunday night, but stopped on their own. I had some off and on Monday, but nothing measurable. Tuesday after lunch, they started up again, and my bleeding picked up with a number of large clots. By 4pm they decided to send me to the birth unit so that I could have more constant monitoring with a 1:1 nurse ratio. At that time, everyone thought that I would be back upstairs to the high risk floor before bedtime.

My contractions went from being mild every 8 minutes to being very strong and every 3 minutes by about 9 pm. At that point I got a small dose of morphine with Gravol. The OB team was not able to see me until 11 pm, due to the number of deliveries happening in the OR.

While waiting for the OB team to get to see me, I passed what looked like a clot but was actually a blob of merconium. Shortly afterwards I got very ill feeling and started shivering uncontrollably.

When the OB got there he seemed surprised that I was in so much pain, and that there was no cervical change. The decision to do a C - section was made at about 11:30 pm, and baby was born at 12:30 am on December 6th.

First off she’s gorgeous and so is her name! I am not crying you’re crying! Lol I hope you’re NICU stay is short and sweet! If you need to talk just pm me. I was in your shoes and it’s really hard, it still is. Be easy on yourself, I took advantage of not actually having a baby at home and just took the time to recover (I know it’s easier said than done), your baby is in good hands. Hugs!

We went down to see her earlier during rounds. She is on the CPAP at a level 7 with room air, which is amazing! They are going to start mouth care using my colostrum as soon as tomorrow, if I can produce any yet. I need to go back down and get my labels later tonight.
