I think we had one of these threads before? But, in the vein of the other marriage/sex thread I think we all can do more self care to feel better about ourselves. Let's talk about what we are doing to accomplish that!

The first thing I did was make an appointment to get my hair cut and colored. I'm going today! It's been 2 years since I had my hair cut. I was very early in my pregnancy with DD.
I also ordered some new clothes, particularly for work. I have to travel this summer and needed professional clothes that fit. I'm not happy with the size but I know I always feel better when my clothes fit and I'm not trying to squeeze into something that is too tight and then trying to hide the resulting effects of too tight clothes.
I'm going to pack up my beautiful too small clothes into a storage bin. I don't want to get rid of them but it's really hard to stare at them everyday and not wear them. I'll be glad to have a closet full of clothes I can wear rather than sort through things that fit and don't fit.

I've been reading a lot while H has been off work the last week. Like I'm on my sixth novel since last Thursday night.
And that's about the lot of it. I need to get a haircut, but I haven't got the time or money. I think I'm going to grow it back out so I can get away with going longer between cuts. I gave myself a mani/pedi last week.

I just got a haircut. I should rush home to work on packing and stuff, but instead I walked across the street to a fancy ice cream shop and I'm having a scoop of ice cream all by myself. Rhubarb crumble with toasted anise flavor!

I'm going to get a pedicure this weekend. I may also try to slip in a date night with DH since my parents will be in town.

Since my husband signed up for a golf league for the summer without telling me ::insert massive eye roll:: I've been trying to come up with something for myself. I've been looking into tennis or golf lessons because right now all I do for self care is drink wine 😂

I am trying very hard to work out twice a week and walk a ton on other days. I'm using our Mexico trip as my motivation to stay/get in shape. Very little else happening here.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I need a new Fitbit. Since my old one died I've had a hard time getting motivated to get in my steps. I've asked for an Alta HR for my birthday though (in a few weeks). Good for you for keeping it up!

My Fitbit is plugged in on my nightstand and has been for over a month now. I'm so lame.

So Friday I actually did what I said I was going to do and cleaned out my closet. I took EVERYTHING OUT and went through it. Stuff that I love but didn't fit got folded and put in storage totes. Everything else I didn't like, didn't want, didn't fit went to Goodwill. I can actually see what I have in the closet now, putting away laundry was a breeze this weekend. And it feels amazing to go in there and be able to put on anything that's there and have it fit. I think that may have contributed to me wanting to go out and do more stuff this weekend. The new clothes I've purchased (that fit!) helped with that as well!

I did some last year, but clearly not enough, since I still have a crap tin of clothes that either I don't like, or don't fit.

That's awesome @scorbioscuba! I bought 3 new cute tops (arriving today!) and I'm heading into the city this Saturday afternoon to meet up with my mom, aunts, and cousins for dinner and a show. I plan to do some walking around and shopping before we all meet up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think once I get caught up on all of the bills and stuff I've fallen behind on, I'm going to buy some new summer clothes.

Posting for accountability.
I have got to start exercising again. I never did much but at least taking walks was good for my peace of mind. I have an elliptical in my bedroom. I don't know if I hate the model or what but I really don't like it. We had a treadmill before and I wish we would have gotten another.
H joined a gym and goes before work. I need to make my own exercise time a priority like he did.
I've been trying to make gradual positive changes. The first was to stop keeping wine in the house. If I have it here, I drink a glass or two every night. Then I'm lazy at night and snack more. I'm trying to only have it when we are out or for special occasions. The second change was to increase water. My next is going to be adding exercise in 3-4 times per week. It's so hot out that I need to go first thing in the morning or after the girls are in bed. I'm going to aim for an evening walk tonight.

I did my walk and it felt great. I told H at the girls' bedtime that I wanted to go and get some time to myself. He was oddly offended by that but when I came back he apologized and said he understood. I hope to get in several more this week. Just getting out for an hour was a luxury.

My H did not take my need for some alone time as well as I thought. Today he said something about me being so unhappy and cranky this break. Um, what? I just wanted to go take a walk. I haven't been any crabbier than normal. I have the girls at home since we are in summer break and that's a lot when I'm used to having some down time (of work can be considered down time) but that's It.
Boys.

Ugh. So sorry copperboom. Especially since your H gets alone time at the gym you deserve at least something similar.

We resolved it. He thought I meant that I wanted time away from him. No. Just me time, nothing sinister.
Just got back from my walk. Beautiful night. I listened to my podcast and relaxed. Just enough speed to be huffy. Perfect.
