What's up this week, ladies?

DD1 will have her first piano lesson this afternoon. There's lots of psychological stress coming from DH's job because of a nasty woman who likes to gossip and rile people up against DH (like saying how he's always leaving early when the boss isn't there - not true, and DH has 200+ overtime hours, so even if it were true it should not be an issue), and the boss actually listens to her. Sigh. Thankfully she's leaving at the end of December, and I really really hope things calm down after that.

I'm exhausted. this cold is killing us. At least M is sleeping in her own bed again. I might nap when she does.

That is such BS crimsonandclover. I’m glad she’s leaving. Office gossip is the worst.

I’m at the airport headed out for a full week out of town. I hope I can just relax and enjoy the time away especially since dd has been especially clingy lately.

Rude coworkers are the worst crimsonandclover. MH doens't get along with his boss and sometimes it brings down the whole house. Good luck on your trip scorpioscuba, I hope you can get some relaxation in. I went away for my first week long trip about 6 weeks ago and it's hard. We bought our tree yesterday and we're going to decorate it tonight! I saw a really good deal on a smaller fake tree, so I bought that too. I hope H doesn't mind! My LO seems to be a little scared of the trees for some reason. He screamed when I pulled a tree out to look at it yesterday, and when he saw the new one today he told me "don't need it." Ha.

Tell me if I sound crazy. 10 years old is too young to be dating/having a boyfriend or girlfriend. I'm not crazy Right?

We did a fake tree this year. We put it up today and will be putting ornaments on after dinner. I’m sorry crimsonandclover. I’ve had a few co workers like that over the years and it just brings everyone down. Enjoy your time scorpioscuba. A while ago someone had a bone graft and implant and I can’t remember who it was. Well I went in for a root canal and they agreed I needed an implant for another tooth. After doing a bunch of X-rays they decided I didn’t have enough bone for a bone graft and implant so I get to get a bridge instead. But for me to get that bridge I had to get braces. So my appointment for braces was this morning at 930. Let’s just say me only able to eat mashed potato consistency food but still having to cook for the family is hard. I loved them as a kid. Hopefully i can get used to them now.

scorpioscuba get some rest!! Your dh has this! You can’t do anything for them right now so I hope you get some time for you crimsonandclover I hope it gets better soon. How’s your work balance going? lollipop not crazy. That’s completely insane and I’d be having a chat with my child about what the point is of dating. At least in our house. No reason at ten. Talk about unnecessary drama. sjames2015 that sounds painful. Good luck. Maybe you need ice cream?? My dh is gone for the week and I’m trying to convince myself that the dishes will do themselves. We survived our craziest night. Dd2 had her Christmas concert tonight and hour after swim lessons. Everyone made it. I managed to stay sane and “enjoy the moment”. So hard sometimes. Why is it so hard?? Tonight I sat and rocked dd3 until she was almost asleep. I haven’t done that in a year or more. She was so cozy and sweet.

dizzycooks THANK you. I was starting to feel like a crazy person. For context it was in a post about someone's 10 year old "girlfriend" saying That they thought they were actually a boy. And the kid just felt bad for misgendering them. So how great is that kid. I and others were asking why a 10 year old has a girlfriend in the first place. Apparently that makes me a terrible person because "what does dating even mean?". It was ridiculous.

I haven't thought much about the "dating" issue as a parent, but I had my first "boyfriend" in 4th grade when I was 8. It wasn't a big deal, we were too young to really do anything except get together for playdates (before "playdates" were really a thing). Several of us in my 4th grade class paired up like that. I think it was just a way to experiment with more complex social situations.

I have to start sewing today. I don't want to be stuck out in the dining room with no tv or anything to keep me company though.
We're all still sick. Starting to get better though, I think.

dizzycooks, oh no. I hope it's over fast! My first "boyfriend" was in 5th grade. He called me once and we just sat on the phone not saying anything because we didn't have anything to talk about. Then I said my mom was calling me for dinner (she wasn't) and hung up. He gave me a necklace with a teddy bear on it. And then after a while he told me that he liked some other girl better and wanted her to be his girlfriend. Honestly, we didn't even talk to each other the whole time... But yeah, if the boyfriend/girlfriend is referring to actually dating, then 10 is way too young. I would assume it would mean the kind of thing I did, though.

My first boyfriend was when I was 13. We danced together, which was super awkward because he was about eye level with my chest (I didn't have boobs then lol) and he didn't know where to put his hands so he held my belt loops and we held hands in the bus on cadet trips. We didn't talk on the phone or see each other outside of cadets. He broke up with me on spring break, I forget why, if he even ever told Me, but I moved on to boyfriend #2 an hour later.
I don't know. If S came home at 10 talking about a girlfriend, I'd probably ask what he meant by that term. My reaction would depend on his answer, but either way, I would most likely tell him that he was too young for a girlfriend

Everyone is asleep, I have a fire in the fireplace and I am doing a few projects I am hoping to finish this week. We moved the rocker back into dd3s room last weekend and now every time I take her to bed she wants me to rock her. It's adorable. I haven't rocked her to sleep in probably a year and my heart is just melting. She asks for it and snuggles right in. I LOVE it.

scorpioscuba how's the trip going? Is your dd better? I hope you're relaxing a bit after work I did get to have a nice dinner and some wine with a coworker after work tonight! 😊 But our workshop is already so behind they are extending our hours the rest of the week. So there won’t be much relaxing going on. I’ve been rocking dd to sleep lately as well since she has been sick. It is blissful. Enjoy it while you can! 😍

Lawdy DD keeps getting WIRED at bedtime. It’s entertaining. She will jump around, fall down and laugh.... just has lots of energy. Thank goodness I got her to bed at a decent time tonight because it’s been a trend not to.
I gave my notice at daycare today. I know I’m making the right decision but I hope dd doesn’t have a rough transition.
I’m sooooo tired. Off to bed!

Dd1 started swim lessons last week. The first two classes my H was home so he stayed with dd2. Last night he was working and I brought her with us. I have never seen her so heartbroken as when she realized she wasn’t getting into the pool with her sister. Just a look on her face of utter betrayal.
She held out hope the entire time. Even after the class was over, and we had been in the locker room to change dd1’s clothes. When we walked out the front of the aquatic center she just crumpled into the sidewalk screaming at the sky “ME! MEEEEEEEE!” and pointing back towards the pool.
Poor girl.
We get to do it again on Thursday so that sounds super fun. 😜

dizzycooks I hope whatever you have is over soon. I forget - do you have parents or ILs around who could jump in in a pinch? Ils are far away and my mother won’t come near us if anyone is sick. I’m debating asking her to leave a few pbjs on the porch for the girls for dinner. I know she won’t come in.

They have parent/tot classes, but not at the same time as dd1’s classes. And with my H’s crazy work schedule I can’t count on him being around to watch dd1 to take dd2 for lessons at another time. She will have to wait until she’s 3.

We survived. Kind of. Not sure how many more days I can do this. nellieoleson my dd3 is also demanding to go swim recently too. When mama isn’t exhausted little one. Do you have the option to swim with her while big sis is in lessons?
