We don't typically do coats in the car seat other than a sweatshirt or thin fleece. It's a huge pain in the ass though. When we go somewhere I heat the car up and kinda wrap their coats around them and run them out. Then I get them in their coats when we get wherever we're going. If they're wearing their coats then I take them off in the car and put them on backwards once in the car seat.
ETA: I don't even know why I shared that since it wasn't what was asked and others clearly have better solutions... I'm tired.

I have a car seat coat question. People always say they warm up the car before bringing their kids into it without a coat. What about when you’re somewhere you can’t heat the car up first? I know as an adult that if I was somewhere for an hour or two, like the mall, and my car was freezing that a blanket and/or thin fleece wouldn’t be enough. I mean right now when it’s 50s out, nbd. But eventually it’ll be -10.

And I have their coats in the car. So usually they have a hoodie or fleece on and I'll layer their jacket on top after they are buckled. But we both have smaller cars and they heat up fast.

Hopefully that will cut it.

Re: Lying about Santa, when Dude was younger I considered not doing Santa. I probably would have taken that road but he learned about him at school from his friends way before I thought he would and then I didn't have the heart to crush his excitement.
Ultimately, what's the big deal? It's harmless fun and they're only going to believe in magic for a short time. Unless you're always using Santa to menace them like, "behave or you get no presents!" I think it's fine.

I lie to C about a lot of things. Why not some big jolly man who brings presents?

My mom told me "the truth" about Santa when I was 5. We had just started going to church and she made friends with this crazy lady there. We later found out she did pills and that was why she was loony but my mom didn't know it at the time. Anyways, she explained that Santa was a modern Satan. Because all you have to do is change the letters around and it spells it. So letting children believe in Santa was letting Satan into your home.... My mom fell for this malarkey.

Cadence loves Santa, I'm not taking that away from her right now. She talks about him all year long.
