That's so soon, I expected much longer. It'll be here before we know it! I hate that the second half of the season ends before all other shows - in March! That’s what really blows! It does suck but I think that's how they get the show to stay great. So many shows have 20+ episodes a season and just aren't good anymore. I'd rather fewer episodes of greater quality than a lot that are mediocre.

This was a really good episode. I just love everything about Randall & his family. & Jack. Jack is such a great dad. Like GDI why does he have to die?! 😩

Im hoping we get to see more of Deja in the future. Like maybe she keeps in contact with them and reaches out to her "foster dad" for advice in the future. I feel like this story was too short lived Me too. I was really hoping she would decide she wanted to stay or something, but I liked that they reached her there at the end and helped her.

I was crying with Randall when Déjà left. He’s an amazing person. Beth too. I just love her so much. She is so beautiful inside and out.

What a great episode. I cried, smiled, and covered my eyes terrified of what will happen. I loved loved loved seeing Randall at Howard and fitting in and having the conversations with Jack. this whole time I thought he was at Harvard lol did not realize there was also a Howard Lol yes. That is actually important to the plot because Howard is a traditionally black college.

Out the the last 3 episodes, this one was my favourite. Probably because Randall is my favourite. I love his corny jokes.
William imagining being there for the big moments was heartbreaking. Because he didn't get to live that. I'm so glad he and Randall had a chance to connect before he passed away.

I finally watched and I'm so glad Tess is okay. Hopefully, Kevin will get some help now.
I also can't get over my excitement that they'll get that cute little boy. He's a doll and I can't wait to see more of him.

Kevin hurts my heart. Everyone else has someone to walk with the next through their shit and while he had Sophie they weren’t in the place where she was there for him in the way that Beth and Toby are there. He’s so alone and it just kills me.
Although I’d kill him if he was my brother driving under the influence. With my kid in the car.

My heart breaks for Tess that she felt she needed a break from her home and left with Kevin. I think Deja leaving was harder on the girls than Randall and Beth know at this time. Here’s hoping they give the girls a little support through this all.

I think this is an unpopular opinion reading through this thread, but I don't think Randall and Beth should be foster parents anymore. I don't think their expectations are realistic- often the goal is to be a temporary home for a child until the parents are ready and fit to care for the child again, it's not always a foster-to-adopt situation. It took a serious emotional toll on them, which I understand, but it also took a serious emotional toll on their daughters, and unless they can really re-vamp their expectations and have a serious sit-down with their girls, I don't think it's healthy for them to take in another foster.
That said, if that little boy is looking for more of a forever home or something very long term, maybe this is a good fit. I don't know. Maybe I'm putting more thought into this than I'm supposed to.

I think that's fair. But I also think that they were so wrapped up in their own emotions that they had yet to realize how much it impacted their girls. I hope it all comes out when they pick Tess up after Kevin's DUI.

This is not unpopular with me at all. I agree. And in general I hate these types of storylines on TV because it is always so much more nuanced in real life and I never feel its well represented for anyone. And I think you make some very excellent points about the toll on them and their daughters. I hope that little boy turns into a long term, forever boy for them too. For story line reasons and for my own sanity.

That said, if that little boy is looking for more of a forever home or something very long term, maybe this is a good fit. I don't know. Maybe I'm putting more thought into this than I'm supposed to. I'm a foster parent currently, and I mostly agree. While some aspects of foster care were presented correctly, many things were not, and some of the statements Randall and Beth made while fostering Deja were really inappropriate given that the goal for Deja's case was that she be returned to her mom. I'm glad they decided not to fight Deja's mom and get a lawyer, but the fact that they even considered that as an option was not okay. (though there should have been no way for Deja's mom to get Randall and Beth's address and show up there in the first place, but that's a separate issue...) I'm hoping that the situation with Deja will cause them to reevaluate their expectations about foster care and see their role as foster parents (and a foster family) more appropriately. Obviously foster parents can get very attached to their foster kids (as they should!), and I think the show was trying to show that side of things, but that shouldn't and doesn't negate the role of foster parents to support the case goal and try to work with the biological parents towards reunification when possible. Randall seemed to realize that a bit at the very end of the episode, so hopefully he will continue to see things that way going forward if/when they foster again.

I saw the Jan premier was delayed a week 😭😭😭 Why would they do that to us? Supposedly to allow more consecutive episodes to air that has has something to do with the Olympics, but pushing it back makes no sense to me
