I think that adult Kate lives in LA. B/c last season she was Kevin's assistant out there and that's where she met Toby. So I doubt they would have moved. I believe Rebecca lives somewhere in NY/NJ b/c she lives near adult Randall, who I think lives in NJ (he commuted to NYC for his job, and when the foster child came to him, the police car said Newark, NJ) So I'm guessing she got on a plane. However, this is something that bugs me. Last week Kevin was "home" in Pittsburgh then came to Randall's house, and I swear he said he was in town. But Pittsburgh is not close to NJ. I feel they play fast and loose with timing/location, in the adult years. You're right. Randall said “I didn’t know you were in town.” (I think). So maybe Kevin just called & said he needed to come over.

Randall said “I didn’t know you were in town.” (I think). So maybe Kevin just called & said he needed to come over. That may be correct. But there have been a ton of other situations where they have been off on it (I seem to recall last year's Christmas episode where Randall was back and forth in NYC to his house after dark, and he was still home by dinner. It just didn't make any sense). It's a pet peeve of mine on the show.

Screw all you people who don't like Toby 😭 He's a catch.
Also, who cleans a dog like a baby? He peed on the floor, not himself. Clean up the floor!
Good episode!

I know Kevin was planning to move by Sophie who is near Randall I think. Did Kate and Toby move there too? NJ to LA would not be like I’ll be there in a few hours. Unless we’re just not supposed to think too hard about it.

It was the next day though, right? Kate slept on the couch and woke up to Toby gone the next morning. Plenty of time for mom to hop on a plane across country. Unless I’m remembering wrong.

Lol He is such a wuss. He is 17 lbs & little & he hates touching the grass when it’s wet so when he goes out he pees so awkwardly bc he’s trying not to get his tummy on the grass. Well then he pees on himself. Yayyyy lol

I was thinking the Kevin story was all in a day, but he slept over at that girls, so that makes sense.

The nickname Bug bugs the shit out of me for some reason I've been calling DD2 little bug. 😬 I don't even know how that started. But I know what you mean. I feel the same way about the nickname bubba. I can't stand it.

I like certain aspects of Toby, and I'm definitely liking him more this season than last. I still think he is way over the top, and that isn't my cup of tea, but he is slowly growing on me. He isn't as OTT as last season.

I️ finally watched tonight. I’m 17 weeks pregnant and had a routine OB visit yesterday and had to make sure I️ heard the heartbeat first before I️ watched this episode.
I️ cried all the way through, both out of sadness for Kate and Toby and happiness (for lack of a better word) for Kate and Rebecca. The scene with those two in the hospital, and then Kate hugging her Mom and falling apart, were just so perfect. I’m glad Rebecca was there for Kate, and I’m glad Kate let her in emotionally.

On a side note, the way they’ve told Rebecca’s “story” felt pretty skewed in the first season. I️ don’t know if that was on purpose (kind of like how a kid has a narrow view of their parents until they grow up and see them as whole people) or unintentional, but I️ like that we’re seeing more of her kindness and selflessness.

yianna I’m so sorry that you never got that comfort. I️ can understand how that would be hard to let go of.

I really think that the Rebecca and Kate dynamic is eye opening. How many of us felt that way with our mom's? I did. But as we've gotten older I've realized it was partially made up in my mind. I'm the middle kid like Kate - so I always felt like my older sister and younger brother had preferential treatment over me. But guess what? I'm the only one who graduated college, moved out after graduation, got a full time job, and never relied on my parents for help. My siblings ALWAYS have, and still do.
So I don't know - I think it's more of a dynamic that happens in families but as kids/daughters, we don't see if that way, if that makes sense until we have our own kids.

Although I’m sure this is t rue for some people, I’m 37 and my mother is still a total bitch. I didn’t want her anywhere near me for any of my losses...not that she would have bothered. From what we’ve seen so far, it does look like Kate has most of this in her head though.

The focus on Kate’s dog makes me think that when the house does catch fire, Jack goes back in for the dog? That could be the reason why Kate says that it was her fault he died. Just my thought when they showed how much she babied it.

I finally got to watch tonight! The relationship dynamic with teenage Kate and her mom really speaks to me, and when Rebecca showed up at the door, I cried a lot. It felt like a time in my adult life where I really just wanted my mom, and for the first time ever, she was exactly what I needed her to be.
Anyway, I also thought the writing for Toby this episode was great, especially the way he talked about how he was hurting too.
Looking forward to tomorrow!

The good and bad part of watching on hulu is that I don't get the previews. Am I going to cry tonight?
