So O has new sores on his tongue and last week had a canker sore on his gum. I don’t know what is going on but I’ll talk to his dr again at his 4yr. Then today he cried about making a hard poop. I’m pretty sure he tore something in his butt because it was gigantic and hard. Ugh, why can’t our kids just stay healthy!!! I had constant canker sores for years. My dad gets them from chocolate so I once gave it up for 3 whole month and I didn't get better. A friend suggested giving up orange juice and that was it. If I do much as sip a cocktail with a splash in it, my mouth erupts within an hour. T's cheeks turn bright red from orange juice.

I wonder if chocolate did it for O too. He had it for the first time about a month ago (Hershey kisses). He never really ate much chocolate prior to that. Or maybe some other food. I never tied mine to anything specific except maybe stress or fatigue.

snoopmommymom I was told that sometimes sores in the mouth that last longer then a few weeks can be a sign of anemia or other vitamin deficiencies.

Does he put his hands in his mouth or chew on toys? Could he be biting his tongue in cheek, perhaps in his sleep or if he is anxious about things? He does put his hand in his mouth or stick his tongue out when he’s nervous. I need to get him to take his multi vitamin. We are bad about that. Maybe it’s a vitamin deficiency. Did you change his toothbrush?

I know this for a fact because once in awhile some clueless idiot wanders into the vegan groups complaining about canker sores and what do you know? They are refusing to take a multivitamin. Every time. Seems like when they go to the doctor it's almost always zinc.

FFFC: I would probably still use expired Motrin. It isn't dangerous like it goes bad, if anything, it just loses potency over time.
