jkjacq similar to DC’s thoughts yesterday. I don’t have the answers but it’s definitely something that’s on my mind.

Morning all! I am going to drop this here simply because it is a busy day and I have a lot to do. Who is ready for $80 Netflix or $40 Youtube. Or paying a la carte for your websites. Want to get to HIH? That will be $3.00 a month. Thanks to Ajit Pai and his ever growing stupidity and our communistic government toward all things now they are removing NET NEUTRALITY today. So everyone with a Comcast bill or other cable provider or any ISP including cell phones prepare to see your bills jacked up to $500 - $700 a month. 3 things you need to know about the FCC’s plan to kill net neutrality rulesTHat is if you have your Internet it is now. If you could live with a dumbed down version of the internet and limit your site visits to here and CNN or WaPo. Might only cost you an extra $30 a month. BUT only those 2 sites. F this. F Ajit Pai. F it all SOOO MUCH! UPDATED: FCC plan would give Internet providers power to choose the sites customers see and use

I finally had a chance to read the details of the allegations against Charlie Rose. Woof. He sucks. If you watch Jon Oliver he has done multiple clips of Charlie and the gang and how uncomfortable it is to be around him even on live air. Woof. As a dude. I am uncomfortable.

People think victims somehow have something to gain by coming forward by sexual harassment allegations. I think it's pretty fucking clear that getting a $27,000 settlement after you've been fired and blackballed because you refused to have sex with an old, powerful man, while he gets to continue in his position of power and making 5 times more than you got for your settlement and NO ONE CAN KNOW ABOUT IT is not something to gain for most women. So much this.

jkjacq, this has been on my mind too. I really think we have to find a way to let people make restitution and evolve. We can’t send every offender to bad man island, and even if we could, is that going to help us change societally? I think we’ve let people evolve on issues related to race and sexual orientation and identity. It doesn’t sit right with me that we’re willing to let people learn and grow in those areas, but not with this. That said, there are some things that, for me, are unforgivable. Preying on or harming children is one of those things. The sheer number and the gross details of the women’s accounts against Weinstein and Toback is another. But some things, it’s not that they are a gray area— they are WRONG— but, they are also a symptom of the messed up value system within our society. And while the acts are wrong, I do think it’s worth it to look at the whole person. It’s rare that someone is entirely good or entirely evil. And it’s not that enough good excuses the bad acts, but it does make me think that a person is capable of contrition and change and possibly ultimately even working for systemic change.

Melania is very on-theme. I know this is catty of me, but she looks like she took the cover off my grandma's couch to make a cape. I normally love her choices, even if they're not the best suited to a given situation. She usually looks so well put together.

Reading the UO/FFFC thread going on reminded me that I was flying last week and while I was boarding there was a couple in first class getting drinks from the flight attendant. Instead of saying thank you, the woman told the flight attendant she was pretty. It was really awkward and the flight attendant was like thank you?! Ugh. Dealing with people on airplanes must be the worst. I know this seems like a nonsequitor, but I was like what if the man in the couple had said that instead? Would that have been harassment, akin to a cat call? Is it any different if a woman says it? It just seemed really inappropriate, and more loaded than a true compliment. This is absolutely harassment in my mind, even coming from the wife. She is limiting the flight attendant's value to her appearance. It clearly made the attendant uncomfortable and the woman either intended it or didn't care. Also, worth noting that although married to a man, we don't know her sexual orientation, so it could easily be sexual harassment even coming from someone of the same gender/sex/etc.

My dad was the public affairs director for Virginia and North Carolina for the 2000 census. I am more qualified to be the director of Operations for the Census.

Ok don't really want him to start pardoning more people but IF he were to do so I'd probably laugh* if he did it in a joint ceremony with the turkey. *before being very likely upset about the pardon

joelies I knew we were talking about Ann Coulter, but your post was the first on a new page and the tweet you quoted didn’t show up right away. I just saw “AC is such freaking garbage.” And instantly thought you were talking about my beloved silver fox.

Moores campaign is giving a press conf at the moment. They are picking apart two of the stories. Like 'around the corner' was over a mile away. Or the restaurant didn't close until X time.

If anyone is from Maine, Collins isn’t a yes on the tax bill. She has a list of what needs to change (taking out the ACA provisions) to be a yes. Get to your phones! That’s one no and one leaning no. People of Maine are on it!
