It's amazing how Sessions never has trouble hearing, understanding, or answering questions from Republicans.

I want them to press Sessions but I also worry that a black and white "no" answer out of him will backfire and push Trump over the edge to fire him.

Are you recused from investigations that involve Sec. Clinton? I can't answer that because it might reveal investigations.

Sensenbrenner: Do you want to risk the real possibility that this program (702) would expire?
Sessions: No
Sensenbrenner: Will you commit to working with congress to reauthorize 702 either the way you want it or the way we want?
Sessions: The act, as passed, is constitutional. i believe it works. And I'm worried about additional burdens, particularly a warrant requirement, damaging the effectiveness of the IC. But we can talk about it.
Sensenbrenner: There's an emergency exemption in the USA Liberty Act as reported from the committee, but you still have DOJ people lobbying members of this committee to weaken the warrant requirements
Sessions: ::shrug::

He's hedging on whether he will recuse himself from a Clinton investigation. This does not make me feel good. So I'm not trying to defend Sessions because he is a southern fried-turd. But if you didn't want to get fired and you knew your boss was watching and wanted you to do something that you didn't want to, would you state unequivocally either way what you were going to do? Like Sessions is not going to take a big stand against Trump. Ever. But he wants the AG job (for reasons I hate). So he might be evasive about it and try to keep avoiding saying or doing anything definite about it for as long as possible. And I guess that's really the only hope we have right now. Because clearly the GOP Congress is on board for a HRC investigation. So they won't be a check.

Mr. Nadler is asking about the Trump campaign NSC meeting photo.
Nadler: YES OR NO. Did you chair that meeting?
Sessions: I did chair that meeting
Nadler: Did Papadapoulous say that he had connections to Russia at that meeting
Sessions: babblebabblebabble--
Nadler: YES OR NO
Sessions: more babble
Nadler: So your answer is yes.
Nadler: did anyone else at that meeting, including Donald Trump, express interest in meeting Putin or express any concern about communications between the campaign and Russia?
Sessions: I don't recall
Nadler: We've established that you knew about at least some efforts to connect Trump and Putin, and they concerned you enough that you "shut it down." After that meeting, did you take any further steps to prevent Trump campaign officials from working with Russia
Sessions: "I pushed back" on George. I didn't have any further contacts with George Papadapoulous (oh that's going to come back to bite him, I'm sure of it)

LOL OHHHH Mr. Chabot wants to talk about how scurrilous and discredited the Steele Dossier is. But let's keep going in on that Clinton conspiracy theory.

I am struggling to have this much optimism because these reps seem so on board with a Clinton investigation. But this is a reassuring way to look at it.

Sessions can't unequivocally say whether it is legal or just for a campaign to "launder" funding for "dirt" through a law firm.

The good Congresswoman from California (Zoe Lofgren) would like to talk about Michael Flynn. YES OR NO QUESTIONS, SIR.
Lofgren: The foreign policy platform at the RNC undertook dramatic changes. Did you discuss those changes with Flynn at any point?
Sessions: I don't recall it. I wasn't there when the platform committee met.
L: You were the lead of the campaign, but you didn't discuss it?
S: I was asked to lead, inform, and find some people to give Mr. Trump advice and support regarding foreign policy and I did so (so HE chose Page, Flynn and George?)
L: You met with Kislyak. Did you discuss those meetings with Flynn?
S: I met with 25 ambassadors that year. I did meet once in my office with Mr. Kislyak. I don't believe I communicated any of that information to Mr. Flynn
L: Are you aware of any meetings between Flynn and the ambassador that might have taken place around the same time as your meetings with the ambassador?
S: I do not
L: Sally Yates said there was some scurrilous bullshit going on. Were you notified when the Trump admin was notified of Flynn's lies?
S: I don't believe so.
L: So you knew about Carter and George trying to establish communications with the Russian government--
S: I don't recall ever meeting a Carter Dage.
L: .....alright. Did you know that Flynn was working for the Turkish government while a surrogate for the Trump campaign?
S: I don't have any information about that
L: Were you, or anyone on the campaign, aware of Flynn's efforts to extradite the Turkish cleric?
S: I read about it in the paper, but I don't recall ever being made aware of it before seeing it there
L: After the Inauguration, you did not know that the FBI was investigating this extradition matter?
S: "I'm aware that the Turkish government continued to press the federal government WRT seeking the return of Mr. Gullen to Turkey. our deparment had a role to play but I'm not at liberty to discuss that"
L: Did you know that Flynn was offered $16 million to kidnap the cleric?
S: absolutely not
