Cnon he was not. Period. You are spreading false information. The very article you posted has been proven false: www.snopes.com/philando-castile-was-not-wanted-for-armed-robbery/I don't know if you just wanted to get a rise out of this, or if you believed this article, but it is false - and more than that, it is despicable for them to try to tarnish this man's name. Do better, Cnon. BE better.

Resembling a robbery suspect does not equal being a robbery suspect. And being a robbery supect does not equal being convicted of robbery. And last I checked we don't execute people convicted of robbery in this country. Sooo there are quite a few leaps of logic happening here.

Yanez was jumpy, unprofessional, and should never been handed a gun. He sucks under pressure and as a result, he shot and killed a man.

Even if for a hot minute the cop thought that it's not an excuse to go all Judge Dredd on someone and become judge, jury, and executioner all in one. And if you are an officer of the law your first duty is to protect and serve, all people not just the ones you aren't scared of or look like you. This is a complete miscarriage of justice and I can't believe anyone who watched the first video, or heard what damn near an entire community had to say about him, can sit there and type that poor excuse

Do better, Cnon. BE better. I believed this article, I also heard this narrative quite a bit leading up to the trial. The cop thought he might have been a suspect. I mean, as a cop, pretty much everyone you interact with is a "suspect". You're not pulling someone over or intervening in a situation unless you believe that somebody is possibly breaking the law. That's just his job, and what he signed on for when he became a police officer. If he truly believed that this person could be armed and dangerous, then he should've handled the traffic stop differently. All of this is in his hands. I am a special ed teacher, and I work with students with pretty severe behaviors. Every day that I go into work, I know that there is probably going to be some sort of physical aggression that takes place that day. Even so, my job is to handle it calmly and to follow the protocol for attempting to de-escalate the behaviors, responding to behaviors that are ACTUALLY happening, and not what I think might happen. We use precautions, such as keeping a safe distance, using a calm and even tone of voice, etc. in order to try to prevent escalation, but I only use physical intervention if the situation becomes truly unsafe for the student or others. I can't put a student into a physical restraint because I think that they MIGHT hurt me, or even if they say or act like they are going to. If I did that, you can guarantee I would probably be fired, sued, and possibly serve jail time if the student was injured during the intervention (and probably could still even if the intervention was warranted). This situation should be no different. This is his job, and he doesn't have the skill set to do it properly, and a man lost his life because of that. Stop defending it.

Not a shock, since the conservatives really want to keep up this false narrative of the dangerous black man.

Apologists for police officers who murder black people are a large part of the reason black people continue to be murdered by the police. I don't think Cnon has any interest in being better. I think he's pretty happy treading water in his stagnant pool of bs and privilege.

Cnon, you are being an asshole. You are spreading false bullshit that excuses cold blood murder in front of a child. No. Your brand of bullshit seems like a consolidation of everything that's wrong with America. Fuck, dude. Get a clue.

H and I were talking about this last night and thinking out loud. People on juries are not paid well to sit. In my parish, you get paid $25 a day, regardless of the number of hours you are there. Isn't it possible that many people request not being put on a jury because they can't afford to miss work? What if a trial goes on for multiple weeks? There are tons of people who don't get enough paid leave to cover that kind of time. Does this cause a problem with juries in general? Keeping them full of comfortable upper middle-class citizens who can afford to take the time away from work or pay for childcare that they don't normally have?
IDK maybe tons of articles have been written about this already or I'm way off base. It just seems like this could cause problems with having an actual fair jury of your peers. I just can't wrap my mind around an entire jury agreeing on a Not Guilty verdict. I don't understand how 10 people could let this happen and just... go home and go to sleep that night.

Here's more on "this guy": he fed children for a living; he memorized all of their names and greeted them every morning; he knew every kid who had an allergy in that school and exactly what their allergy was; he was kind to everyone there; he is deeply missed by his coworkers; he liked going to baseball games with the people he worked; he was a laidback, funny and supportive guy. He would never have put Diamond's daughter's life in danger. He was an actual human being and a good person not just something for assholes with no lives to theorize about on the internet. He happened to be the same skin color as a man who committed a crime and his car happened to have a tail light out that gave a cop an excuse to pull him over. And now he's dead. Quit reading that fucking bullshit and posting it here to stir up shit. Grow a heart; grow a brain; think more; do better. You can troll people on the internet for shits and giggles. But that is a man's life you are talking about.

Yanez had no business being a cop. He goes from zero to 100 in literal seconds. Just flipped the fuck out over nothing and murdered someone. In that instant he just took a man's life. It's unreal and I am so fucking sad right now.

He sounds like quite the guy, who had his whole life ahead of him. But it doesn't fucking matter *what* kind of guy he was. So what if he *was* an armed robbery suspect? (Not saying he was - making a point.) Whether he was a good person or a bad person, in the moment he was killed, he was not threatening the police officer. He was, in fact, doing everything right in that moment to communicate clearly and comply. Dredging up past transgressions as a justification for his killing is like excusing a rapist because he and the victim had previously had consensual sex. That. Does. Not. Matter.

It was an intentional act by someone who had ZERO business with a badge, let alone a gun. It doesn't matter if he was Charles fucking Manson, in that moment he was a perfectly law abiding citizen and DESERVED to live. He did not deserve to be executed in front of his girlfriend and a FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD. And the executioner deserves to be in jail, not walking free, just because he had a badge.
