And I think you are right about the OT thing, at least looking back we didn’t get OT of we still worked the holiday It came up re: working on Thanksgiving in the big UO discussion yesterday. I had never realized that it wasn’t mandatory to give people OT for working that day, but sure enough, I looked it up and it is not a federal law.

It's kind of dumb to close offices and schools today for Veterans day tomorrow. UO? I think this is regional. In Boston we were always closed down but it is a normal day in the Midwest.

I dont ever remember anything being closed down for Remembrance Day, but there are assemblies and minutes of silence etc if Nov 11th falls during the week.
eta: I mean moments of silence etc happen on weekends but I was referring to school/daycare being interrupted.

and I typically thought it was an observed holiday if it fell on a week day. not having friday off for a holiday on a saturday.
from my understanding of overtime vs holiday pay. if 1 day of the week is holiday pay (8 hours out of the 40 you are turning in) then no over time. You are required to have 40 normal hours of work to qualify for over time. So if the holiday is Friday, and you worked 43 hours between monday and Thursday - you would then qualify for overtime, any thing over 40 non holiday hours worked. so in this case - 3 hours.

The bathroom is a few doors down the hallway from my office and everyday at this time I have the pleasure of being choked out by the cleaners orange scented cleaning fumes.

Well... would you be pissed about not having a paid holiday for Christmas, New Years and forth of July is they didn’t fall during the work week? My thought is, if it’s one of the 8 paid holidays then it makes sense to have a Friday or Monday off that week instead Or some other day. Weather it be a different random holiday or something. Unless you get paid 8 hours of holiday pay and 8 hours of work, which is fine and dandy for hourly positions but salaried would get screwed on years like this. I mean I don’t disagree because Veterans Day is a huge holiday but still a paid holiday for some. H is working and s1 has school this isn’t impacting us. BUT our library is closed today.

I am so glad for the weekend. It's not been a great week for me, but every day is a new one, to just keep trying. Today was quiet at work (first day in a LONG time not filled with meetings). I'm off this afternoon and Monday (Monday because M's DC is closed for remembrance day...pretty much the other place I know of that gets it as a holiday...#relevant).
This afternoon I'm making final decisions on flooring (placement/grout etc.). Tonight I'm supposed to be going to a friend's beach house for a girl's weekend (I'm only staying tonight). Tomorrow is DH's work xmas party (good thing for the snow this morning to get me in the mood for an extremely early Christmas party! Lol).
There's the update on my schedule, for those interested! Lol

Veteran's Day is a paid holiday for me. But since I don't work a traditional M-F schedule, it is observed on the actual day (tomorrow). I will have tomorrow off instead of being paid holiday pay (double time). Works out for me because I will have a 4 day weekend! (Tomorrow, plus my regular days off of S/M/T).
Only plans I have are weeding out the toy room, cleaning up a bit, and setting up our fire-pit.

Ahhh Jesus Christ I just found 2 4 year old twin boys running like crazy through the parking lots and snowbanks in t shirts. They were crying and freaking out and no parents around, it’s fucking cold here. I brought them into Walmart to see if I could call for help and the dad was in there looking for them. I guess they got separated and the boys ran outside to find him. That was so freaking traumatizing I can’t even explain it properly. Just how upset everyone was, the boys were panicking.

You know what’s fun? Your husband coming home early for what you hope is food poisoning.
You know what’s super fun? Getting a phone call to come get your kindergartener because he threw up.
You know what’s super super fun? Your kindergartener throwing up all over the floor of your car even though you brought him something to puke in.
You know what’s super super super fun? Cleaning up puke in a un-heated garage when it’s 11 degrees.
Want to know what’s super super super super fun? You find your toddler, who you put in the room he shared with his brother so you could clean up puke, drinking from one of big Brothers water bottles that you forgot was there.
Want to know what super super super super super fun? Trying to console a 5 year old that’s crying because he doesn’t want to puke anymore

Apparently there have been 3 incidents in my neighborhood of elementary school children being approached/ assaulted on their way to school. One was an 11 yr old girl walking to school who a man grabbed her breasts and tried to get her in his car. There’s a huge increased police presence near the elementary schools now, which is good but the whole thing feels really awful/ scary.

Well I was able to get underwear off and a pull up on. I’ve lost track of how many times he’s gotten sick. He did pee at about 5pm but hasn’t since. He’s pretty lethargic and not very responsive which is not like him. But cries and whimpers when he gets sick. 😢

It’s going to be a long night for me. Isaac is sleeping with H in our bed and I’m sleeping in Isaacs bed (I put clean sheets on). H hasn’t slept because he’s afraid of getting puked on. I’m am bound to catch this because I just want to be by my sweet boy to rub his back and tell him it’s going to be ok.

I’m not caught up at all and have no idea what’s been going on the last couple days... I’m physically exhausted... I do have a question and not sure if any of you know the answer. Worm is sick today, she spiked a fever, it’s stayed under 103°, but I can’t get it under 101°. She has a runny nose and started coughing after she fell asleep. Do any of you know if my cesarean will be postponed if I get sick? I’m going to do my absolute best yo stay healthy for the next few days, but frick... she never gets sick and this is the worst possible time for it to happen.

It's kind of dumb to close offices and schools today for Veterans day tomorrow. UO? Our daycare is closed Monday and I was annoyed because I don’t get it off (It’s not a stat holiday here either). Luckily DH did get it off.
