I feel that we can't go wrong with either Democratic governor candidate.
Personally, I'm voting Perriello. I really like him and I think that it would be a good thing for Virginia to go in a more progressive direction, but Northam has the experience and may be most qualified to handle healthcare. I will happily campaign for Northam if he wins the primary.
I forgot about the Lieutenant Governor race!! Who does everyone like??

Corey Stewart can go fuck off especially. Fuck him. He is an embarrassment to our fine Commonwealth. God just thinking about him makes my blood boil. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

I keep vacillating between Perriello and Northam. I think ultimately I can support either of them in the general.
For Lt. Gov. I'm leaning toward Platt.

I think either Northam or Perriello could do a good job. I watched their debate on Sunday after MtP and was impressed by both. I really don't have a clue about Lt. Gov.

Yeah fuck Corey Stewart in his stupid fucking face. Other than that I'm uncertain if I will go Northam or Periello. I feel like Northam is really dedicated to Virginia but less progressive and Periello is more progressive, but wants to use the Governorship as a stepping stone to something else. But overall if be fine with either of them . Still haven't even though about lt. Gov.

I need to do more research. Thanks for posting this! I was so excited to vote for Periello when he ran for congress a few years ago, so he has that going for him.
The primary is the 13?

Has anyone heard anymore from Periello on his statements or insinuations that he agreed with Bernie Sanders that progressive economic policies were more important that women's reproductive rights? This is the one thing that makes me really hesitate on him, but I don't know how accurate the narrative is. I love Bernie, but I don't love that line of thinking becuase it so incorrectly assumes that you can separate reproductive freedom from economics.

There are things I like about both Northam and Periello. I like Periello because he's really progressive but I feel like Northam might have a better chance of winning the governorship.
For Lt. Gov...Fairfax, hands down. Last Monday night there was a panel in my town with all the candidates and Fairfax really stood out.

smilesp, that's what worries me about Perriello. Virginia rejected Bernie Sanders pretty hard last year, so is Perriello too progressive to win in November? I don't know.

A lot of the democrats where I live are against Northam because he's taken money from Dominion. There's a big controversy here about a proposed Dominion natural gas pipeline that will cut through our area.

He's a really good speaker. He comes from a humble background and has really worked to get where he is. He has lots of experience with government working from the inside and also advocating for others from the outside.

Northam is the only candidate who has never had an A-rating from the NRA.
Perriello is the only candidate who is 100% anti-pipeline.
I'm conflicted.

Northam has an ad running in which he calls Trump a "narcissistic maniac" so he has that going for him.

I can't help but wonder if Northam is too tied into the "establishment", having worked under McAuliffe that it'll feel like an ascension - and if it may keep some people (moderates, independents, Rs) from voting for him in the general. I have similar concerns about Perriello being "too lefty" for centrist Virginians, of which there are many. I worry that Perriello is too liberal and the moderates won't turn up for him. I worry that Northam won't excite the Progressives so they won't turn up for him. TBH I'm more worried about choosing the candidate that can beat Gillespie than I am about the candidate who best suits my personal beliefs.

I just got an email that the postcards4va campaign sent out 7,265 postcards. Regardless of who wins I'm hoping for a good Dem turnout.

Though I will say Northam cares deeply about the effects of development on the environment and would be thoughtful in anny decisions he made, but I agree, I wish he'd just say NO pipeline. He's said No to fracking, offshore drilling and other such destructive practices, so it would be nice.

I was reading (I can't remember where but I'll try to remember) that polls show that both Periello and Northam would beat Gillespie handedly. Although I'm very wary of polls since November...

H is more than a little obsessed with the making of the Perriello commercial where the ambulance is crushed. It was shot in a single take. He's pretty impressed. I'm pretty amused at him.
I like Northam's record and policies slightly more, but after seeing them debate, I think that Perriello is more charismatic/personable. I just don't know!

Well I met Dr Northam tonight and he RT me so now I'm definitely voting for him lop Where did you meet him? I work with Moms Demand Action and we held a rally tonight for Gun Violence Awareness Day. Lt Governor Northam, Rep Connolly and AG Herring spoke. Chris Hurst unexpectedly showed up and agreed to speak as well (he was the boyfriend of the Roanoke reporter shot live on air, and is running in the VA 9th)

Well I met Dr Northam tonight and he RT me so now I'm definitely voting for him lop I am swayed by the idea of a medical doctor in the gov mansion. A pediatric neurologist changed my life once before. A pediatric neurologist changed your life? Care to share?
