Everyone has their own hook for their car jacket and a hanger for their snow suit. It works, but we have tons of extras bc they lose mittens eventually.

Dd started saying “yeah” and it’s so freaking cute. In other news, took her in for an ear infection today. She seemed to feel ok but had drainage. She has tubes. Went to the library and somewhat productive around the house.
Happy week everyone!

Ugh. All day I thought it was Thursday. Turns out it was Monday. Whoops. Sadly I am also not drinking so I couldn't drown that sorrow in a glass of wine. I can't remember if I ever said anything here but over the winter hubs got an abscess in his butt. Very painful. Very. This resulted in a pocket/canal (basically a fistula), which never closed and required surgery. Which was unsuccessful. Long story short he saw a butt-hole specialist today. He will have another surgery. This guy is confident he can both fix the problem and not make my hubs incontinent. I am nervous. Do not want adult diapers this soon.
If mittens end up being like socks we will have 15singles and I will just mix and match at will...

I want to do something just like that dizzycooks but I have to get H on board to buy something that’s a good storage solution. We have been lucky that most of DD1’s small pairs have stayed in her sock drawer so we have them, the snow pants, and heavy coat. @kelltothekell DD2 says yep, yea, and NO! Those are about it other than screaming mommy when she’s trying to potty for the 1000th time.

This is our area. 1 bin for each kid (that method works well for us) and then 3 coat hangers each. Clean boots and shoes (like rainboots that are still to big) go underneath coats, all shoes currently being worn go out on a rack in the entryway.

We had a busy weekend out of town. I was up around DC and MH and LO took the train up to see me. Apparently LO said "choo choo" for the first two hours and then passed out. He's a little jabber box, he just repeats whatever he hears. No mittens over here. Even though I grew up in that climate, at this point I can't even imagine having snow right now. Brrr...

We're all different sizes, so if everyone has their own bin we won't have finding through to find what fits. H and I are getting bins too. The kids jackets are on a hook that S can reach, along with S's snow pants and bookbag. I think I need to get hooks for H and I as well, because he never hangs his coat up.

Our tubs are dollar store shoe bins. They sit on the shelf in our closet. I’ll try to PIP later. In other news, theoprah and I are meeting up Friday! That girl gets around we are going to the zoo, I am super excited!! Although I kinda wish it was wine and chocolate like crimsonandclover got to do 😂. Dh just found out he’s traveling 4 days at the start of December. I’m excited for the evenings to myself, but kinda dreading the solo for 4 days piece. It’s probably good practice bc he’s looking at a job that’s regular travel 2-3 days every week.

Ugh I'm so sick. I'm trying to work from home but I can't sit for too long without needing to lay down. Thank goodness H was home last night and I was able to sleep basically all evening, up for a couple hours and then a night of broken sleep. Cold medicine really sucks. We have a 6 cube storage unit in our hallway by the laundry room (which leads to the garage). DS and DD have a basket on the bottom for shoes. The cube on top of their basket holds DS's backpack and school stuff, and DD's diaper bag over hers. I have hooks in the laundry room for jackets and stuff. I put this system together in January and it has stuck for so long and is my life saver. Above the storage unit is our family calendar and it's how I keep track of what's happening. I also have a basket to dump mail, keys, sunglasses. etc. It keeps everything in one place and I love it. The kids are trained and know where there shoes go and where to get them when it is time to go. FX the surgery works, kcrkcs. That sounds so terrible for him.

Y’all are organized! I guess it’s a necessary thing when it’s so cold. It was almost 80!here this weekend which isn’t normal. Now high 40/50. We skipped the 60s thing! I was just thinking the other day she prob needs some gloves. kcrkcs dang that sucks. I had a friend in college that got some kind of abscess thing and had to pack her butt with gauze and such. I really hope the surgery is successful for him. You never think about how nice it is for things to operate well until they don’t. Sorry that’s happening!

Winter gear storage. This is for everyone. In the spring/summer each girl has a light jacket on their hook and a shelf for sun hats.

I picked up sonic for lunch ($2.99 cheese burgers and gator tots??!) and I am seriously regretting it. I need to be a bit more productive today so I cannot sit down. I do not remember being this exhausted and sore at this point in my other pregnancies. It’s getting old.

I would really like to move the computer desk out of the entryway and put a cubby shelf where it currently is, but I can't for the life of me figure out where I would put it instead. I was thinking the dining room, since we never use it for eating, but I'm not sure.
I really don't get how my mom managed to rearrange stuff so often when we lived here when I was a teenager. Except that we were older and didn't need a place to keep our toys and play, so where I have the playroom she had more living room.

I genuinely don't understand how people get so upset about people decorating for Christmas early. The biggest argument here is that you should wait until after Remembrance day otherwise it's disrespectful to vets. But most vets don't give a flying fart in space when you decorate, as long as you go to the ceremonies or at the very least have a moment of silence at home.
I don't decorate until at least the first week of December, but that's because I get tired of looking at the decorations long before Christmas if I do it earlier.

I'm not decorating yet but I am thinking about gifts. What are you getting for your LOs? I've been thinking about an anywhere chair but they are $$$. A friend has a luna lounger from Target and they seem really nice but don't offer personalization and are still $80. I can't decide if personalization matters. Anyone have a mini chair they love? I've also been thinking about a scooter and/or a balance bike. Or should I wait until he's older? Any of your kids use these?
Also, for myself, I've been wanting to splurge on some nice sheets. I've been thinking about trying parachute or brooklinen. Anyone tried either of these? Any thoughts? I typically like percale sheets.

So we have a 103.5 degree fever over here. Dd3 is deteriorating as the day passes. It’s so sad 😞. I guess we will go in in the morning if she doesn’t feel better, but she’s not getting teeth and she’s still eating a bit. I’m guessing ears? scorpioscuba how did the fevers turn out at your house?

Sorry to hear about all the sick kiddos and husbands. dizzycooks, I think a fever that high is usually indicative of something underneath and not just teeth, so I'd take her to the dr in the morning.

tinydancer we're thinking of getting M a bed for Christmas/birthday. She's getting too big for the playpen, which she still sleeps in because we didn't bother getting her a crib. Other than that we always get them a toy, an outfit, a book, pjs, and something they need. Plus something from Santa. So I think M's something she needs will be a bed. I have no idea what we'll get for S. He really doesn't NEED anything other than clothes. Maybe a new snowsuit?

tinydancer both my kids have PB anywhere chairs courtesy of their Nana. I️ love them. The covers wash up really well and the kids love sitting in them. As for sheets I️ love the Cariloha bamboo sheets....especially with our hot summers, they keep us cool.

I have no ideas for the birthday! I feel like I was so excited about the first birthday and now I'm like, eh. LO loves trains right now, so maybe that will be a theme?
For the holidays, I probably won't do too much baking. Maybe a little something for LO's preschool Christmas party (down here they don't have "holiday" parties, just "Christmas" parties). I like to make ginger snaps and chocolate krinkle cookies. I feel like maybe in one more year my LO would be a little helpful with baking. Now he's sort of in a dump everything out and eat all of the sugar phase. My in-laws are coming to spend Christmas with us and hopefully my FIL will make his famous caramel rolls!

Anyone want to chat about birthdays? Or holiday baking plans? I feel like both of these things are going to come up so quickly and I am NOT prepared. I have nothing planned for birthday this year. We'll probably do it a couple of weeks after her actual birthday again though. As for baking, We have no solid plans, but I will definitely be making sugar cookies from my great grandmother's recipe (my grandfather once said mine tasted just like her's, high praise from her son), and probably ginger snaps and peppermint kids cookies. We do a lot of holiday baking with my Mom, especially since she now has like a mile of counter space. Last year we just sat down with all of her cookbooks and bookmarked everything we wanted to try and narrowed it down from there.

We're having family over on her b-day because it happens to be on the traditional day we have family over (Sat after xmas). There will be no theme or big party or anything, we'll have a cake and presents as part of the regular get-together.
I'm at a loss for presents. She's the 3rd girl. We have everything.

Yes, they have the regular size. DS is 6 and still fits in it comfortably! He reads in it or they'll watch movies together.
