I read it wrong. 15 shot; no information on the number who were killed.

The pastor wasn't in the church at the time, but his daughter was.

I hate this.

I am not a religious person at all, but people should be able to feel safe in their places of worship.

Well, safe anywhere really, but homes and places of worship are kind of the top of the list for me.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. People are being killed in churches, schools, concerts, walking a baby in a stroller down the street. And yet as a country we’ve done nothing. I’m so angry and sad right now. This is so fucked. I hate seeing families torn apart like this. For what? I don’t get it.

MH just told me that he read the church was small with only about 50 persons in regular attendance, so this affects pretty much every single person in that church.

I remember seeing a tweet that gets circulated every time something like this happens. Something along the lines of once we let Newtown go by without anything changing, we as a society decided we didn't care.

But they won't. If the gunman is part of a minority they'll blame the entire minority and use it as an excuse to crack down with racist, discriminatory laws. If it's a white male they'll say we can't blame all white men for it, that he was mentally ill, and that now isn't the time to talk gun control because we're politicizing a tragedy.

It's literally the same shit script, different mass shooting event.

Oh I know. It’s frustrating and terrifying how powerless we are. Things continue to escalate and legislators refuse to take any meaningful action. It’s unconscionable.
