I’m struggling. They want me eating 15 carbs at breakfast, 30 for a mid morning snack, 60 with lunch, 15 for an afternoon snack 60 with dinner and 30 before bed. Anytime I eat more than 40ish I get too close to comfort to that 120 number. I feel like 60 g carbs and getting it below 120 in an hour is impossible. I would double check with your doctor, mine wants my numbers at/under 120 TWO hours after eating which is a huge difference. I find that if I eat close to 60 carbs my body can't get under 120 in two hours without meds, I can't imagine it is even possible to do that in one hour. The carb counts are close to what mine recommends, just the timing for after meal testing is different. And... At/under 120 is all that matters. Even if you are a little over, a 123 number isn't going to hurt you or the baby, especially one hour after eating. You don't get "bonus points" or a healthier baby if your number is 100 versus 119 when you test. Yeah I rechecked my paperwork and it says 120 after 1 hour. She mentioned that she is very conservative with her numbers so that the least amount of complications arise as possible. Of course that led to a number of 122 today at lunch and me being pissed off. I feel like I can't eat anything.

I've gained I think 6 lbs at this point and I keep losing. H isn't very happy with that because he feels like I'm starving myself.

I feel like I can't eat anything. I would call or at least bring it up at your next appointment. If you are being honest with your food intake and making good choices and staying within carb limits and your numbers are a smidge over 120 after 1 hour as if it is really that big of a problem or if she is just SUPER DUPER conservative given that the general rule of thumb is 120 after two hours. You shouldn't feel like you have no options for meals and snacks. Of course I don't want you or the baby to have complications but there is being sane with recommendations and then there is being super duper conservative which sets the patient up for failure and frustration "just cause".

My next appointment is Thursday (growth scan, whoohoo!!!) and I think I'm up about 1/2 a pound in the last 2 weeks since my last appointment and this is the only weight I've gained since my GD diagnosis. I've gained (officially) 15 pounds total so I'm pretty happy with that....

Welp. The doctor put me on glyburide for my high fasting numbers. I'm relieved to not have to do insulin. FX this works!

Every now and then my fasting numbers will be right, but they are usually around 95-105. I just can't find the right snack to get it where it needs to be and I HATE forcing myself to eat when I'm not hungry, especially right before bed.

What’s everyone doing for dinners? I feel like I’m eating the same thing all the time.

What’s everyone doing for dinners? I feel like I’m eating the same thing all the time. I eat whatever my family eats minus the carb. For instance if I make chicken, rice and a veggie I will only eat a very little bit of rice and add a salad. Tomorrow I am making pasta and Italian sausage. I will eat the sausage and maybe a 1/3 of a cup of pasta and then make myself a veggie.

I eat a protein and lots of veggies everynight. I count my veggies as my carbs so like yams and beets are my go to. Occasionally I do the baby purple potatoes or the baby white ones because they have the least amount of starch in them for a potato.
I also eat the same things almost every single night

maddisonrose I get so confused with what veggies are right. Like my list says that carrots and green beans are free but when you flip the package around they have a bunch of carbs in them so I’m not sure how they are free.

I will take a pic of the list of free foods that the NP gave me.

My dietician told me to eat as many veggies as I want whenever I want. Lol. She even specifically said “including carrots”. Funny how it can be so different.

Faith is measuring about 4 lbs 5 oz (75th percentile) at 31 weeks 1 day and fluid levels are good. My doctor upped my Metformin to hopefully help with my fasting numbers. No matter what time I eat my snack, what I have for a snack or what time I get up to test my fasting number are ranging between 95-110. My post meal numbers are usually really good though, so I'm hoping this does the trick!

Sigh. My GD is really stressing me out. My numbers are completely out of wack. I'm so nervous about this. I got a high score after dinner (127) and all I ate was broiled salmon and steamed broccoli! I've gotten great scores in the past with it. Then I got my best fasting number yet - 97 - which I know is still high, but a lot lower than the 112-120 I was getting before. But I got another very high number today after breakfast - 137!! I feel so helpless.

I never had issues except for my fasting numbers until now.

My dr was surprised at my numbers and asked if I was on a strict diet. I told her it was semi strict and I told her what I was eating. She was satisfied with that but also mentioned that I hadn’t gained any weight this month. She was semi happy about that but really wasn’t concerned with my weight gain before this so 🤷🏻♀️ She also said she got my measurements from my scan at the hospital and it said baby boy was measuring exactly on target and not ahead.

marygracerich I feel like we’re on a fairly similar path whenever you update. My semi strict diet keeps getting less so as I go farther along and keep trying more things. I lost 3 pounds last month but they don’t want me losing weight, not that anyone was too concerned with it this time.

I never had issues except for my fasting numbers until now. 32-33 weeks is peak for progesterone or some other hormone that messes with insulin resistance. By 36 weeks that goes down... I feel for you with the up and down numbers and I'm worried about what will happen with my numbers next week when I hit the 32 week mark. I'm hoping upping my meds now will help with that.

I met with the dietician yesterday and left with mixed feelings. She was ok with the 4 times I had numbers over 120 after an hour (1 was a 121 and one was a 122, the other two were 130). She’s really on me about upping my calcium intake somehow but was ok that I’m managing my diet myself at this point. She did say they won’t do oral medication in their practice because it crosses he placenta so if I need anything it’s an automatic jump to insulin which I’m not happy about.
Today she called and said the dr reviewed my numbers and they were ok this week so no insulin but well have to see next week. I’m beginning to feel like I’m destined to be in insulin with her no matter what I do.

I'm sorry you are struggling with it kbw. I am pretty surprised that they want your number under 120 after an hour. That seems so hard to manage. Even if you go on insulin, remember that it's temporary.

Basically. It is Good thins crackers. The whole grain ones. I had shredded cheddar that I threw on top and put in the microwave for 15 seconds. Wasn’t the worst but wasn’t real nachos by any means. Lol

I am such a baby. I still have to work my way up to pricking my finger. Like I sit there for a few minutes going 'I don't wanna!!!!' before I finally have the guts to poke myself.

I hesitate a lot too. Not usually a few minutes but I usually hold my finger over the little button for a good 15 seconds before I press it. It hurts! 😞. Just think this will be all over with soon and we will have our squishy babies.

sweetsurprise do you have an adjustable lancet. Like I can change the depth and pressure on mine? Also they taught me to go around the edge of my finger like a rainbow because it doesn’t hurt as much as the center pad of your finger.

Check to see if your monitor allows for alternate site testing (like your arm). I had to get a new one but it was worth it because it hurts SO MUCH LESS on your arm than your fingers.
