rooskie's suggestion to bring my unopened box of candy to the L&D nurses made me wonder - do people still bring gifts for the nursing staff when you go into labor, and if so, what sorts of things are appropriate? Time and budget allowing, I'd like to do something else besides the candy. I'd love to hear what you STMs did before!

I think gifts are not expected, but always appreciated. There's an amazing donut shop 2 blocks from our hospital so we got a box of fancy donuts last time for the breakroom. ETA rooskie, I just saw your donut comment in the other thread. Great minds!

Speaking as a nurse, we never expect anything, but it’s always nice when a patient or their family thinks of us. I’m working on gifts for the nurses, probably something portable for them to eat and caffeine in some form. I’ll probably bring something for both day and night shift bc a lot of times if something is brought in during the day it’s gone by the time night shift arrives.
