DS1 had a couple week NICU stay from day 1 so I know how hard it is to be away. I'm very sorry you have to do that but hopefully you'll be back together soon and on your way home!

Oh beefinch, al the gentle hugs. How is her grunting now? Have you seen big brother yet to get in those big boy snuggles? DS1 was a grunter, his hand was on his face for delivery, so they thought he could have fluid in his lungs. I ended up sending him to be watched, because watching for all the things they listed was too much for me to do.

Update -
Well last night sucked without her. I did sleep though, which is at least a plus.
Waited for H to go up to NICU in the morning as still couldn't walk.
We get there, and her blood sugars have been perfect and grunting has stopped, she was fine. But now her jaundice levels are way higher than they like it to be, that was caused from the red blood cells as she had to many.
So now she's under one of those lights, in hope it brings it down, and if not she has to have a blood transfusion through the bit of umbilical cord left, and it can take up to 4 hours of doing that.
She also just threw up everywhere which freaked me out, but it was slightly my fault as they asked if she can have a dummy because she's nil by mouth in case she has to have this blood transfusion, she has fluids though so she's just grizzly from hungry, so I helped hold the dummy in and she took way to much air, causing her to throw up.
Of course I jumped up out of my wheelchair when she was being sick and now my cut is killing.
My recovery has actually been fine, just lying down at night and changing position I actually think I lost a few organs turning over in bed lol.
Managing to walk now but it's hard to breathe in deep when walking.
She's just getting her bloods taken to send away to see if the lights have helped, should be back with the hour. Praying it's working

I’m glad you got some sleep beefinch, but I know it must be awful being away from her. Hopefully the light therapy clears up the jaundice and you can get some baby cuddles. And today I learned Brits call pacifiers dummies.

Hopefully the lights do their job quickly and the jaundice improves! Once she is able to eat and she can get some poops in, that will help those numbers too.

Congratulations beefinch. She’s an absolute doll. I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with all this, but it sounds like she’s improving. I continue to see healthy, healing thoughts to both of you!

So she has to have the blood transfusion. Having it right now. Even with the lights on her for 4 hours, her levels went up.
NICU had to literally chase me down in the massive hospital to get my permission asap to do it.
The only plus is that this is something that WILL work and will do quickly. But still sucks.
Also, my cat who was 19 years old passed away today. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. It seems a day that EVERYTHING wants to test me. I've learnt that I'm very strong emotionally. I think she purposely waited to choose to pass away when I couldn't be with her, so we never had to say goodbye. My nan was with her and wrapped her up in a blanket when she was taking her last breaths. I'm just so grateful she had a long and happy life, my perfect fur baby.
My eyes are so puffy and swollen from all the crying I've done these past 24 hours.
Saw DS today and he met his sister. He was quite overwhelmed with all the lights and didn't get to touch her, only lasted a few minutes. But he was very sweet in the few minutes going "my baby my baby" and pointing. It was so nice to give my little boy a cuddle.
Hoping for a much better day tomorrow, I need her to get better asap.

beefinch I'm so sorry for the awful day. losing a fur baby is so hard, on top of everything else. It sounds like baby girl is being well taken care of, but things like transfusions are still scary. FX her bili goes down and she is in your arms soon.

Sorry the past few days have been so emotionally trying. I will be sending lots of pooping thoughts to Miss E to get all that nasty bilirubin out of her system.
Sorry about your cat too; it is never easy losing a pet.
I bet that moment was adorable between big bro and little sis. 💗

Big hugs to you. Soon this will all just be a blip but it must be very emotional and draining for you right now. Take care of yourself and know that she's getting exactly what she needs so you can bring her home to snuggle.

I'm sorry today was a bad day. Tomorrow has to be better. I'm so excited for your DS to really get to meet his sister. He sounds like he will be an excellent big brother. Try to get some sleep and take a shower in the morning if you're allowed.

Thank you ladies. You all have made me feel better.
7am now, got around 6ish hours sleep so I'm going to go see her now to hopefully get some good news, it just has to be good news.
Then going to come back, have breakfast and have a shower, it'll be a very long shower as I'll have to go slow but H isn't here till 11ish to help me, but he needs a break to, even though my parents are doing an excellent job with DS and I wouldn't leave him with anyone else, DS needs his Daddy sometimes.
I'll update you all later, hopefully with some good news
