Ok guys I need help. I'm keeping track of sleep still and j is killing Me . He takes like 7 naps a day between 30minutes and 1 hour . Then he wakes up4 times a night . I feel like this is excessive and crazy. What am I doing wrong? Should I try feeding him more in 1 sitting or keep him up longer during the day? It's exhausting and I keep going it will fix itself but it's not.
Also, he is such a noisy sleeper at night and the closer to morning we get the noisier does anyone else have this issue???
I feel like I'm not making any progress here

king26 How many ounces a sitting does he eat? How many bottles a day? When you say he wakes at night are his eyes open and he’s crying? If his eyes are closed how long are you letting him go before you get him?

If his eyes are closed how long are you letting him go before you get him? He eats 2 or 3 oz.at a time about 10 times a day which I feel like is too much. If I start giving more should I do it before bed and first thing in the morning? I wait until his eyes are open and he's crying at night . He will often whine and whimper with eyes shut for 10-15 minutes before I get him. It's so loud and I have my h asking every 3 minutes if he's up.

king26 N is a noisy sleeper in the early morning, too. I try to wait until he opens his eyes to pick him up but ugh it drives me crazy cuz I’m constantly checking on him. Eta: I see you answered that he eats 2-3oz. Do you think if you put more in the bottle he would take it or does he seem genuinely full and content after his feeding?

king26 -maybe he needs to eat more in one sitting unless he seems really full and has no interest in the nipple in his mouth. I’d try 4oz and see, then maybe 5 even if he keeps eating.

I would definitely try this. also H is a loud sleeper. I try not to pick him up unless he is really starting to move. I actually try and get him while his eyes are still closed. This way I can feed him (hopefully) without he being fully awake. He usually settles right back down. I also don't change him in MOTN anymore (unless absolutely jevessary). When I do change him I do it with his eyes close, although he does open them. Also I think some babies are just not great nappers. H will do great with naps maybev3 days a week, otherwise he does what you are saying. Sometimes he is hungry, but sometimes I feel nothing will settle him. DS1 on the other hand was great at naps. He just sucked at sleeping at night.

This morning I pulled out my Texas size coffe cup! H was up at 4:30,l. He fed and went back down, however 30 min later he was squirming . He must have had bad gas bubbles because nothing was helping. I even gave gas drops but didn't help. I felt bad for him, but I was exhausted!

Yeah I think he needs to be eating more at a time king26, he is likely just snacking and not filling up M is a noisy sleeper and more so in the mornings. As far as keeping him up more in the day, I would not recommend this. He will just end up more overtired and cranky. My experience was the same with DD1, great napped horrible at night as cwbh928

king26 If he isn’t passing out after 2 ounces, I would fill bottles to 4 ounces at a time. If you’re using a slow flow nipple then try a medium flow (if he chokes or is spitting it up then he’s not ready). He might be a lazy eater or tiring himself out from trying to suck. I would start immediately to see if it makes a difference. ETA Sometimes R falls asleep after a couple ounces and I’ll go change her diaper to see if she wakes up and wants to eat more. When R is full she will refuses to drink more even with the nipple in her mouth. If he will drink more, then give it to him. I don’t think there is a way I could force R to drink when she’s really done.

Good advice ladies. I'm going to start with 3 oz. Everyone instead of 2 sometimes and maybe 4 before bed and first thing in the morning and see how it goes. He will stop eating or spit up if he is full . The most he has ever taken is 3.5 oz.

He suddenly started having issues finishing his bottle, and we realized we needed to move from the very slow newborn flow nipple to the next flow. Maybe he would drink more with a slightly faster flow. Do you still swaddle? We started swaddling arms in at night only again, and it's made a big difference in getting longer stretches. I also noticed a positive difference at 8 weeks so maybe once he's a little older. I am so sorry, though. The sleep struggle is so difficult.

I feel silly bc I gave my almost three year old one of his baby brother's pacifiers last night. He's never taken one when younger. He can't fall asleep unless he's drinking milk from his sippy cup which is terrible for his teeth, so I'm phasing it out. I got tired of his whining for his milk sippy and brought out the paci in desperation. He liked it!! I think it made him feel special and like he was getting the attention the baby gets now. I really hope he doesn't take to it, but it's better than milk being on his teeth all night (I think). Poor little guy-- he's really struggling with the baby getting so much of my attention.

thinkchocolate05 cut it cold turkey. T only used a paci for naps and bed - we used to have her put them up when she’d get up. I can’t remember when I did it, but I just took them one night and wouldn’t give her one. So, you need to just deal with a few bad nights and he will be over it. Or, you can offer water but then you’ll have to break that. T goes to bed with water and since we started using the potty I’ve tried to get her not to take it. But, she wakes up at night and gets it from the kitchen. She must be thirsty, but I know it’ll be hard for her to go through the night dry if she drinks throughout the night.

Yeah, I tried giving him his milk sippy up until he brushes his teeth and then only a water sippy, but he gets so upset and refuses the water. I may just need to completely pull the milk sippy out of our bedtime routine. We haven't succeeded with potty training yet, but it is a problem. He drinks so much at bedtime, he pees through his pullup

thinkchocolate05 We have the pacifier problem here. DS was 2 in July. He only gets it for nap and bedtime but I need to get rid of it. But he sleeps so well right now. I hate to get rid of it and have 2 kids not sleeping at night. He's broken a couple of them so if he breaks the last 2, I guess that will be the end of them.

king26 good luck, I agree that it doesn't seem like he's getting enough to eat and that's why he keeps waking up. thinkchocolate05 I agree with bsouls, you just gotta cut everything out cold turkey. It's definitely going to suck the next few nights, but it's really the best thing at this point. Both milk and pacifiers can mess with teeth.

P is also a very noisy sleeper. I don't understand how H sleeps right through it P has been switching up her nighttime sleep on me. She used to go down for the night between 10-10:30, wake up around 6-6:30 to eat, then she would fall back asleep until 9-10. The last 3 nights she hasn't gone down until 11:30-midnight, then wakes up around 7:30 for the day. I'm not sure which one I prefer honestly. The first one was nice because she was falling asleep when we would go up to bed for the night, but then her sleeping late was a little annoying because then I was getting a late start on the day. The second one is annoying because I don't want to stay up until midnight with her, but then it's nice to get up at 7:30 and get the day started. I know, I know, I should just be grateful she's STTN.

I'm also pretty stoked because the weather is finally fall-like. I have homemade chicken noodle soup in the crockpot right now and it smells fantastic

jexxa what’s your secret?? I’m so jealous of STTN people. N only woke up once fri and sat night- when DH was in charge of night feedings. Last night I’m back up bc DH went back to work and he slept terribly 😒 like he knows to just be a little turd bc mommy’s on board or something. Plus- I was able to pump enough this weekend to start a freezer stash! 15oz so far. Not much but it’s a start!!

We are leaving for a 6 hr road trip tomorrow when DS is done at preschool. I was somehow supposed to pack all of our stuff today, on top of having my 6 week checkup and making a Target run. As you can imagine packing is not going so well. I pulled the kids clothes out, while DS emptied his drawers and the bookcase. So now his room is a disaster too. I am sooo not cooking dinner tonight.

addymac, M is the same on weekends when MH takes the motn feedings. She slept horribly all week then this weekend she only woke up once on Saturday night and last night. Now that I'll be alone again she'll probably sleep like shit again! It happens EVERY weekend. In fact, the two times ever that she sttn were both MH's nights!
